Criminal Barristers are next to strike over pay rates.

Intriguing

22 years as a NHS Consultant Rhinologist I’ve never operated upon someone’s sinuses under GA, recovered then and discharged them so they are home by 10am. #amazing

Strangely, cocaine is currently trending on Twitter. Can't think why.

2 more jobs for Carrie he suggested to keep her busy
But the PM’s closest advisers were said to have vetoed both suggestions, warning either position could undermine his wife’s status as a private citizen.

From that article:
One source said: "He has form in finding convenient cubby holes for his women".

Ugh. So grim.

Notonthestairs · 21/06/2022 15:21

"Boris Johnson’s allies have denied that he ever tried to get a government job for Carrie, while he was Foreign Secretary.

In other news, here’s an entry in the diary of former Foreign Office Minister Alan Duncan, from April 22nd, 2018."

I suspect there is a paper trail.

Dottychicken · 21/06/2022 15:24

I bet the die hard forties will be impressed by his statement on the rail strikes. Divisive, inflammatory, inaccurate and nasty as usual. Nothing about the government working to support finding a solution to the problem. Just another excuse for him to sneak another power grab onto the statue books.

Notonthestairs · 21/06/2022 15:25

They've been hankering after rewriting trade union legislation for years. Now is their excuse.

Dottychicken · 21/06/2022 17:38

Statute even. Not statues. Though they did make an almighty fuss over the removal of some of the slave trader/merchant statues.

DuncinToffee · 21/06/2022 18:11

Not sure if the 'it's Labour’s fault' is quite going to plan

twitter.com/SavantaComRes/status/1539277133352259584?t=5WxlX_Npy20GAtZki3HGHw&s=19

A majority of UK adults say that the rail strikes this week are 'justified'.

Justified - 58%
Unjustified - 34%

Pippa Crerar

Inside the glitzy Tory summer party where Boris Johnson auctioned off a cosy dinner with himself, Theresa May and David Cameron for £120,000 as Tory donors filled his election war chest

Quite honestly I think whoever won that should contact trading standards.

Alternatively maybe we should crowd find for next year and send Ricky Gervais.

guinnessguzzler · 21/06/2022 21:01

Indeed. I genuinely feel sick at the thought.

I think I'd send Ricky Tomlinson.

All of those "prizes" mentioned seem absolutely horrific. Topical comedy shows are going to be hard pushed to come up with more hilarious concepts.

Notonthestairs · 22/06/2022 07:36

Sums things up pretty well -

His refusal to take responsibility for any of it, ever, has increasingly created a government in his own image – one that ricochets between blame-shifting and clean-up. Of course the strikes are Labour’s fault, even though they’ve been out of power 12 years and counting. Of course lawyers are the reason they don’t have a working immigration policy. Of course there is no reason for taking responsibility for breaking your own laws – of course you couldn’t even be expected to know your own laws. People have spent way too long musing about what “Johnsonism” is when it really is transparently simple: it’s always, always someone else’s fault. And, by extension, someone else’s problem.

People have spent way too long musing about what “Johnsonism” is

It's lying and cheating.

Notonthestairs · 22/06/2022 08:38

Johnsonism = what will distract from the latest mess/scandal.

Cornettoninja · 22/06/2022 08:42

I’ll have a go;

Johnsonism; vacuum of moral integrity

Notonthestairs · 22/06/2022 08:42

I note that there were suggestions yesterday that they'd introduce an ethics panel of 3 - presumably they think they can keep at least one of the panel in their pocket to provide cover.

DuncinToffee · 22/06/2022 08:51

This also happened yesterday

The motion, effectively, to press PM to appoint a ministerial code watchdog is defeated, with no firm concessions from No 10. Seems quite a hostage to fortune for Tory MPs. I wonder what will happen if another scandal breaks in the next couple of months, with nobody in post. ~AA

I'll also have a go:

Johnsonism - the ideology, doctrine and practice of thinking with one's penis.

Cornettoninja · 22/06/2022 12:23

Priti is fuming at todays PMQ’s

prettybird · 22/06/2022 12:27

She's always fuming. She oozes hatred for "lesser beings" according to her high opinion of herself

On other news, snakes are full of venom.

Cornettoninja · 22/06/2022 12:30

Grin that’s fair @prettybird.

She was particularly noticeably seething about the labour question regarding Afghan refugees and the fact only two applications have been processed since April or March (can’t remember which).
