How many times a day do you change your clothes?

Not counting getting out of your PJs in the morning and back into them at night .....

Yesterday was pretty typical for me - a very active retired woman in late 60's with dog and horse to care for. Dressed in scruffy jeans/top/boots for dog walking (we live in a rural location), then (change 1) changed into clean jeans/top/nicer boots for trip to Sainos and meet friend for a quick coffee, (change 2) early pm back into scruffy stuff for dog walk 2, (change 3) changed into riding breeches and fleece for looking after/riding horse, (change 4) out of horse stuff, shower and into leggings and baggy top for evening meal/slop about watching a movie with DH, then back into PJs for bed.

It seems I'm a serial clothes changer. Can anyone relate?

How bizarre

I get dressed and go to work. I get out of my work clothes when I go to bed!

If I go to the gym or for a run add in another change of clothes but that's it!

I couldn't be doing with the washing or the hassle of multiple changes!

Sceptre86 · 27/05/2022 17:11

My baby has reflux so I change several times a day. Before she was born I'd change into exercise clothes and then do a workout, shower and into regular clothes.

DockOTheBay · 27/05/2022 17:11

Do you wash all those sets of clothes after wearing them for a few hours? Horse stuff fair enough, but couldn't you wear the same clothes for the first and second dog walks? And your "coffee with a friend" clothes could be worn at least twice more. I wouldn't bother to change into a top and leggings to watch a film for 2 hours, I would just put my PJs straight on.

To answer the original question I usually get changed zero times. Once if I am going out somewhere in the evening (rarely!)

GraceandMolly · 27/05/2022 17:15

@DenholmElliot1
. I also shower 3 times a day. I thought everyone did this to be honest.

No, I wouldn’t say this is typical. Most people wouldn’t be home enough times to shower that often.

20viona · 27/05/2022 17:16

Too many on a work day!
Pjs - normal clothes - work scrubs - normal clothes - pjs

Sometimes it's more if I need to change a scrubs, so annoying.

KohlaParasaurus · 27/05/2022 17:20

Three. Casual day clothes (shorts or jeans and a t-shirt) when I get up, then after breakfast I'll change into exercise clothes to go for a run or a bike ride, then I'll have a wash and put on smart work clothes and that's what I'll wear until bedtime. Not everything gets washed every day and I don't shower every day.

FlySwimmer · 27/05/2022 17:21

Kinda depends on the day. Busy outside work day, I get dressed in the morning & probably won’t change until I get into my pyjamas at night. If I’m WFH, the day might pan out as gym clothes -> ‘home’ clothes -> pyjamas.

DH is a bit odd about staying in one’s ‘street clothes’ once home. He’ll change from his work clothes, into comfy home clothes, before then getting into his pyjamas at night. If it’s not really late when I get in from somewhere, I’ll often change at least my trousers into something stretchy & comfortable, but not pyjamas.

coffeecupsandfairylights · 27/05/2022 17:35

On a weekday: PJ's - work clothes - comfies - PJ's.

Weekends it's normally: PJ's - comfies/going out clothes - PJ's.

I'm begging you, please tell me that you aren't calling Sainsbury's 'Sainos'. If you are, you have to stop it. Immediately

Oh no! Is that what that was? I assumed it was some trendy Southern coffee bar chain ☕😂

RollOnWinter · 27/05/2022 17:40

Bloody hell! I get dressed in the morning, keep those clothes on until bedtime.

I don't get muddy or walk dogs, nor do I do loads of gardening. I haven't got horses. I like the simple life and couldn't be arsed with all that faffing about

Anonnnnnnm · 27/05/2022 17:43

@Louise0701 yes of course I would in that instance, but the chances of me doing either are very slim 🤣🤣

Riverlee · 27/05/2022 17:50

Weekdays - work clothes, then change into slob clothes, then pjs. If going out, then change from work clothes to pub (or whatever clothes).

weekend - day clothes then come home and change into slob clothes, or stay in day clothes.

so maybe 1-2 changes on average. Very occasionally three changes (plus nightwear)

Louise0701 · 27/05/2022 17:53

@Anonnnnnnm fair enough 😂😂😂 love the honesty!

CambsAlways · 27/05/2022 17:59

Nope get up shower wear casual clothes do housework etc shopping in same clothes shower before bed pjs back on, if I was mucking out horses etc then yes I’d be changing clothes but nope only one set of clothes for me

leftistbimbo · 27/05/2022 18:04

It totally depends on the day and what I’m up to but I definitely do similar! I always change into joggers or leggings for lounging at home but would usually change into jeans to head to the shop, change into a nicer outfit again if i was going to the pub or meeting a friend, another outfit change if I go to the gym that day…

Onwards22 · 27/05/2022 18:09

Wake up.
Get changed out of PJs into work clothes.
Come home.
(Get changed into workout clothes if exercising.)
Get into PJs.

Boymumsoymum · 27/05/2022 18:12

This thread has been really revealing for me.....I finally understand how people are managing to generate like 10 loads of laundry per week....they are only wearing stuff 5 mins

MintyCedricRidesAgain · 27/05/2022 18:13

Erm nope.

Get dressed, might change top if I go to my mums as her house is like a sauna.

Harem pants and a t-shirt for lounging/sleeping.

Depends if you can rewear it really. I wash towels and bedding weekly so not an obsessive washer!
Uniform job - unlikely as usually had body fluids on it and on a bad day my trainers go in the wash too
Non uniform job - rewear skirts/trousers, wash tops
Horse stuff - yes if just a bit of mud, no if I had sweated through it
Dog walking - probably but again depends how sweaty/dirty
Pjs/evening slob stuff gets reworn

I change my clothes about 5 times a day depending on what activity i'm doing. I also shower 3 times a day. I thought everyone did this to be honest.

Lol. Course you did.

Sometimes it's more if I need to change a scrubs, so annoying.

I once worked in a Trust where we had to wear different coloured scrubs and shoes for theatres and for everywhere else. So if I was on the emergency list I had to change every time I left the theatre suite to go and pre-assess a patient, then change back when I came back into theatres. My record was 14 changes in one shift! I did reuse the scrubs if still clean, but it was a lot of time wasted getting changed.

familyissues12345 · 27/05/2022 18:46

Work day I wear uniform and I usually change at some point once I get home (latest I finish is 3pm). Occasionally I keep my uniform on if I can't be bothered and am not planning on going out!

Weekend - always change out of PJs, sometimes change twice if I'm going to the gym or having a night out

Would love to see how anyone working full time can change their clothes & shower that many times a day??
Have you comprehension of how most people live??
Confused

hopeishere · 27/05/2022 18:57

Get up change out of pjs into clothes. Different shoes for walking the dog. Generally wear that for the rest of the day until I get ready for bed.

If I'm going out for dinner I'll get changed.

Animum2 · 27/05/2022 19:02

I WFH permanently now and just 1 change from pjs to t shirt and shorts
