How many times a day do you change your clothes?

Not counting getting out of your PJs in the morning and back into them at night .....

Yesterday was pretty typical for me - a very active retired woman in late 60's with dog and horse to care for. Dressed in scruffy jeans/top/boots for dog walking (we live in a rural location), then (change 1) changed into clean jeans/top/nicer boots for trip to Sainos and meet friend for a quick coffee, (change 2) early pm back into scruffy stuff for dog walk 2, (change 3) changed into riding breeches and fleece for looking after/riding horse, (change 4) out of horse stuff, shower and into leggings and baggy top for evening meal/slop about watching a movie with DH, then back into PJs for bed.

It seems I'm a serial clothes changer. Can anyone relate?

I sometimes do this as well especially working from home;

  1. dressed for school run
  2. usually change pants in to comfier ones to wfh/warmer top
  3. change for gym
  4. change in to loungewear after gym and shower
  5. pjs for bed.

(If I go gym late enough I'll just skip loungewear and go straight in to pjs)

Anonnnnnnm · 27/05/2022 15:18

Noooooo way! Weekends I wear one set a day unless I'm doing DIY / dirty work then obviously I'd change. I might change out of work clothes into casuals if I'm doing something in the evening but otherwise it's straight into PJ's 😂

DenholmElliot1 · 27/05/2022 14:31

I change my clothes about 5 times a day depending on what activity i'm doing. I also shower 3 times a day. I thought everyone did this to be honest.

My mind is honestly blown. I couldn't think about showering more than once a day, I'd lose 3 hours doing my hair 😂

Louise0701 · 27/05/2022 15:20

@Anonnnnnnm so if you went to the gym Or for a run you wouldn’t shower after?

Thighdentitycrisis · 27/05/2022 15:21

I’m like you OP
So far today - this morning baggy trackies for wfh. Then put on trousers to go out to the Post Office /get a coffee at lunch time. Then I wanted to sit in the garden for a bit so put on shorts to catch some rays. Might go for a run later so will change again to running shorts.
far fewer changes on days I go to the office

Lacedwithgrace · 27/05/2022 15:27

A fair few times. Usually just swapping comfy shorts for jeans or jeans for trackies. I shower once at night, cba for anymore than that

Smallorangecat · 27/05/2022 15:28

I don’t. I take my pyjamas off and put jeans and a top, then at bedtime I put my pyjamas back on. On work days I get dressed, go to work, change into uniform, get changed again at the end of the shift, go home and put pyjamas on because we can’t wear the uniform outside work.

IRunbecauseILikeCake · 27/05/2022 15:30

If it's the weekend I almost do a casual daytime outfit and a nicer evening time outfit. Not sure why really - just makes me feel good I guess.
Like you I always change for dog walking too

Waxonwaxoff0 · 27/05/2022 15:31

None, unless I'm going on a night out. I wear the same clothes all day.

glamosaurus · 27/05/2022 15:33

Yep I'm a serial clothes changer too. I'm trying to limit it though but it's a hard habit to break...Blush

steppemum · 27/05/2022 15:33

get up into old jeans and T-shirt, go to walk dog.
(These clothes get worn all week, and then chucked in wash.)

get home and get changed into clothes for the day.

Stay in those until bedtime, unless I'm being taken out for a meal or something, which is so rare I almost didn't mention it!

The only time I went dog walking without old clothes on, someone's dog jumped up and planted muddy paws on my white T shirt!

NwNmOldFace · 27/05/2022 15:34

Am: out of PJs, shower, clean joggers/leggings for dog walk. Same outfit to go and do horses as I rarely ride first thing.
Pre-work change into office clothes
Post work - jods and shirt - jods get 2/3 wears, shirt clean each day. Riding, yard jobs and dog walk.
Home, change into jeans/joggers/leggings and t-shirt/jumper.
Night - change into PJs. That said, my dog is a flat face breed so slobber is very much a thing, horses are all DIY in a mud bath in winter. Summer I can get away with same shirt for evening stables as morning.

Carrotten · 27/05/2022 15:35

I just get dressed in the morning and ready for bed in the evening? What is the point of all that changing? Why change between dog and horse?

If I'm going to the gym or out I would add another change in, but otherwise no

JustALittleHelpPlease · 27/05/2022 15:35

This was one of the things I didn't miss when I sold my last horse and lost my last dog. No more early starts to muck out/walk in winter was great but also the end of endless changing and showering! Getting washed and dressed for the day then undressed and washed for night with no other changes in between has been a revelation 😂

Of course there are more horses and dogs in my future but I'm enjoying this bit for a while first 😀

lljkk · 27/05/2022 15:38

I'm probably in the guilty camp, but only partly in that I might keep one shirt on for everything, and I wear the same things repeatedly over many days. Like Monday:

PJs ->
dog walking clothes ->
doing sport outside clothes (got soaked) ->
clothes to slouch around house in ->
got cold so needed to put PJ items back on, esp. my legs.

ApolloandDaphne · 27/05/2022 15:40

If the weather is bad I wear the previous days clothes and old trousers to walk the dog then shower and put on clean ones. Sometimes I put the old trousers back on for the second walk. That's about it before pjs.

How could someone in the average household who works 9-5 shower and change 3 times a day, not including PJs?

canyoutoleratethis · 27/05/2022 14:46

I'm begging you, please tell me that you aren't calling Sainsbury's 'Sainos'. If you are, you have to stop it. Immediately

Right?! It's SAINSBOS.

Mumoblue · 27/05/2022 15:45

Changing up to five times a day? Are you a Victorian lady at court? 😂

Sounds exhausting, but you do you.

I wear my clothes all day, barring catastrophe. My son sometimes has a few outfit changes but he’s 2 and a bit too enthusiastic about splashing in puddles so that’s necessity.

Maybe the exception is if I’m wearing something I’m only comfortable wearing around the house and then I suddenly need to go to the shop, I’ll change to be presentable.

MiaGain · 27/05/2022 15:47

@canyoutoleratethis .... why? It's a supermarket, thats all.

MiaGain · 27/05/2022 15:50

Well, I fell relieved that I'm not the only serial clothes changer around. I honestly don't remember a normal day when I got up, got dressed, stayed in the same cloths all day, then got undressed and back to bed. For the sake of other shoppers in the supermarket, I couldn't go there in my doggy or horsey clothes.

OP posts:
Minikievs · 27/05/2022 15:56

Into work clothes in the morning, gym clothes after work, then pjs

If it's the weekend, into gym clothes, normal clothes, then pjs

If I were you, I'd just change shoes for dog walk....it's not cold or wet, why do you need a change of clothes from dog walk to Sainsburys?

Furrbabymama87 · 27/05/2022 16:01

I have a bath in the morning and get dressed. Evening time I will take off my jeans and put pj bottoms on. Before bed I'll have a bath and put pjs on.

Rayray18 · 27/05/2022 16:02

Once. Work clothes come off as soon as I get home and change into PJ's or lounge wear. End of. Keep life simple!

Wouldyabeguilty · 27/05/2022 16:03

Lady Mary Crawley...is that you?
