How many times a day do you change your clothes?

Not counting getting out of your PJs in the morning and back into them at night .....

Yesterday was pretty typical for me - a very active retired woman in late 60's with dog and horse to care for. Dressed in scruffy jeans/top/boots for dog walking (we live in a rural location), then (change 1) changed into clean jeans/top/nicer boots for trip to Sainos and meet friend for a quick coffee, (change 2) early pm back into scruffy stuff for dog walk 2, (change 3) changed into riding breeches and fleece for looking after/riding horse, (change 4) out of horse stuff, shower and into leggings and baggy top for evening meal/slop about watching a movie with DH, then back into PJs for bed.

It seems I'm a serial clothes changer. Can anyone relate?

Out of pyjamas in the morning then no, whatever I'm wearing stays on for the day. Back into pyjamas at night, and I wear the same set of clothes for at least 3 days, bar socks and knickers. Jeans last about a week.

RebeccaCloud9 · 27/05/2022 16:06

Blimey, such varied lives!

I wear one outfit all day most days. Stretch black jeans with vest and jumper in winter/t shirt or blouse in summer. Maybe a summer dress, but I'd wear it all day.

I will wear different gym clothes, but that is a rarity ATM. And I would change to go out eg for dinner but again, that isn't that often.

I wouldn't get changed out of work clothes just to be at home.

OnaBegonia · 27/05/2022 16:06

I've heard Sainsbos but not Sainos 🤣
Why different outfits for dogs and horses?

ChagSameachDoreen · 27/05/2022 16:06

Who are all these multiple clothes-changing people??

Unless I shit my pants, i have the same clothes on all day.

ATadConfused · 27/05/2022 16:08

GetOffTheTableMabel · 27/05/2022 15:00

That’s a lot of changing OP. You’re like Retirement Barbie!

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

GlitteryGreen · 27/05/2022 16:10

I work from home so I am usually dressed in tracksuit bottoms and a T-shirt.

I stay in this all day unless I am going out somewhere that requires different clothes - the gym, for instance, or meeting a friend (may or may not change for this!!). Change back into original clothes when home. I then keep the same outfit on for a couple of days as well if I've just been lounging about in it!

Definitely not 5 times a day 🙈

MushyPeasPrincess · 27/05/2022 16:11

DenholmElliot1 · 27/05/2022 14:31

I change my clothes about 5 times a day depending on what activity i'm doing. I also shower 3 times a day. I thought everyone did this to be honest.

You honestly think everyone showers 3 times a day?? Have you never read one of the "my DH is a minger who hasn't washed in 5 days" threads on MN? Grin

Most people shower once a day I would say. Maybe twice if gym/exercise.

allfurcoatnoknickers · 27/05/2022 16:11

I only change in the day if I'm exercising, or doing something that requires really dressing up for work.

I have two dogs and just walk them in normal clothes...but then I don't live in the countryside and they both hate water, so don't get particularly mucky.

Astrabees · 27/05/2022 16:15

Today? gym stuff for pilates class at 7.15, then shower and change into work clothes - smart for conference. When I get home I'll change into jeans and T shirt to walk dog, then into PJ's to lounge around in before bed, then take them off to go to bed. 4 changes, fairly typical.

Blinky21 · 27/05/2022 16:17

3 on average

ILIWYS · 27/05/2022 16:19

Blimey, some of these posts sound exhausting. Some days I don't even get out of my pyjamas 😆

airrrrAIRRRRiELLLL · 27/05/2022 16:23

Hope there's no one on here in the rag trade thinking there's a gap in the market for 'dogwalkingwear'. 'Loungewear' is bad enough.

ATadConfused · 27/05/2022 16:24

Depends on the day/activities, but I happily used to go to the supermarket in whatever I was wearing to walk the dog, sort the horses.

Not had horses to sort for a long time now & currently no dog to walk, though do get enthusiastic greetings from friends dogs & dogs out walking!

Fortunately the school run now doesn't necessitate me getting out of the car and my 'big coat' covers most things, but I NEED a summer one!

I was less impressed yesterday when the teen needed to stop at the riding centre to get a new pair of navy blue jodhpurs (for an event) & I was not dressed for it, but thankfully 'big coat' did its job!! 😂

SockQueen · 27/05/2022 16:32

If I'm working, I'll get changed into scrubs when I arrive and change back to normal clothes before going home. On a non-working day I wouldn't ordinarily change, bar putting on my Brownie leader uniform once a week, unless going out somewhere fancy (v rare these days). I sadly don't get the chance to exercise really, so no active wear here.

I shower every morning, wouldn't usually do it again in a day unless I get very very hot and sweaty or there's a bodily fluid incident at work (also thankfully rare!)

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 27/05/2022 16:32

Here at the Scottish Outdoor Club we wear the same outfit every day, wash it but never iron it.

MrOllivander · 27/05/2022 16:44

I used to
Work uniform (job 1)
Work clothes (job 2)
Horse stuff
Gym clothes
Casual/pjs

Forever changing in the toilets at job 2 or hefting bags of clothes about

SirChenjins · 27/05/2022 16:47

No! I’ll change out of my smart work clothes into my jeans to walk the dog when I get home if I’ve been in the office, otherwise it’s one set of clothes (unless I’ve got a night out obvs)

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 27/05/2022 16:49

Pj's into clothes 1. If I've been wearing leggings wfh and going somewhere I might change into jeans 2 back to pj's 3. I might change into gym gear at some point

SunshineCake · 27/05/2022 16:51

Running gear for a run and walking the dog. Pair of socks number 1 & 2
Normal clothes Pair of socks number 3
Bed clothes Socks number four

So as you can see I am all about the socks!

Sometimes I will get through two normal T-shirts depending on activity and weather. Usually manage same jeans all day, for two days.

orangeisthenewpuce · 27/05/2022 16:57

I don't wear pj's in bed. Put work clothes on, go to work, come home. V occasionally put on loungewear for the evening but usually wear work clothes until bedtime.

Vampirethriller · 27/05/2022 17:00

Once if I'm at work, out of my overall. Non work days, I don't at all.

NotTheWomanIWas · 27/05/2022 17:02

'Sainos'...... 😬

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 27/05/2022 17:05

Ideally no more than twice. Work out clothes on for school run and exercise, then into "normal" clothes after my shower. If I'm going out in the evening I might change again, or if I've cleaned the house I'll put old clothes on for that, then change again.

GraceandMolly · 27/05/2022 17:06

That’s a lot of changes. I would stay in the same outfit most days and only changing for sports sessions.

ArabeI · 27/05/2022 17:07

I'll change into gym/exercise/dance clothes on almost daily basis. They're easy maintenance re. washing and drying, though.
