What would you expect a "bottomless brunch" to be?

Girly weekend away, bottomless brunch suggested, at around £20 per head. All agreed. Ended up being £12 more.

What would you expect from it?

From a place in the local town's website.

Our Bottomless Brunch Is £40pp, Which Includes A Sharer Starter For The Table Followed By Two Dishes From Our Brunch Menu, With Bottomless Prosecco, Rosé Prosecco, Mimosas & Brunch Cocktails For 1.5hrs.

They all mean something different so I’d want to check what was included.

My starting guess would be that for £20 it’s unlimited food and paying extra for alcohol.

I hate bottomless brunch.

£32 is cheap for bottomless brunch.

I'd agree with pp - one item off menu with unlimited tea & coffee (what my local Wetherspoons do for around £6 and it's lovely!) plus extra for unlimited prosecco. Most restaurants would charge around £30

£20 is cheap so I'd be asking what was included. Around here 'bottomless brunch' seems to be more late afternoon, often involves foods that aren't 'brunch' related (e.g. pizza, tapas, burgers...) and 90mins-2 hours of unlimited prosecco with optional upgrades for unlimited cocktails.

I can safely say I’ve never vomited up a boost brunch 🤣

tricky balance though, daytime drinking. You really have to carry on, or you’ll be in bed at 5pm with a headache.

I went for bottomless brunch a few weeks ago, had a full English breakfast with unlimited cocktails and they brought 2 bottles of prosecco for the table and some snacks .. was really good quality for the the price ☺️

I've been to a few and they vary a lot. I'd expect the £12 was the food and the £20 was unlimited prosecco/cocktails/beer, for 90 minutes or 2 hours. It is a laugh, especially for a birthday or other occasion.

Some have been rather stingy, having to flag down a waiter as glasses were empty. Others have been super generous, leaving the bottle on the table, and immediately replacing it when it's empty. One came over to us 1 minute before the two hours was up and asked us which two cocktails each we would like before it finished.

A brunch order and unlimited Prosecco.

Don't be so dramatic. Buck's fizz with a meal from 11am - 1pm, on a couple of Saturdays a year, is hardly equivalent to knocking back White Lightning from the bottle on a park bench every morning at 8am.

Champagne or buck's fizz with breakfast is available at lots of smart hotels, especially as part of an 'occasion' type package like a honeymoon stay or Valentine's. Millions of people also have buck's fizz with breakfast/brunch on Christmas morning too. It's totally normal as an occasional treat.

Unlimited food, coffee, tea and fruit juice. Not unlimited Prosecco, but maybe a glass if it's that sort of place.

Interesting to hear that the unlimited part refers to alcohol! I haven’t heard of this before so just based on the words bottomless brunch I would expect unlimited amounts of breakfast/brunch foods, tea/coffee and juice. I wouldn’t have expected alcohol to be part of it at all!

I would expect the unlimited food too. As I don't drink I wouldn't want unlimited alcohol.

I'm remembering fondly one hotel chain's breakfasts when I used to stay in them for work in the 90s with tables full of cereals, fruits, nuts, breads and jams, yogurts, juices and continental breakfast type meats and cheeses as well as the hot buffet English breakfast type items. Plus hot drinks. Have whatever you want and as much as you want. (I'd even walk out with fruit and yogurt in my hand for later and no one batted an eyelid). I'd expect my bottomless brunch to be like that.

Can't be many places where you get unlimited booze and food for £20.

Brunch = food (to me) so I'd expect bottomless food and just assume the word 'bottomless' had been selected for alliteration purposes.

I'd be very disappointed to find limited food and endless booze

It is pretty clear though

I drink, but even I would want a decent amount of hot food for a brunch, rather than alcohol and a pastry. For me brunch is shaksuka or a decent cooked breakfast.
