What would you expect a "bottomless brunch" to be?

Girly weekend away, bottomless brunch suggested, at around £20 per head. All agreed. Ended up being £12 more.

What would you expect from it?

It’s normally brunch type food as served and Prosecco on a time limit 90 mins or 2 hours. But the terms always state. But £20 is cheap they are normally £35 plus.

It's just the latest trendy name for a daytime piss-up that's sprung up all over the place. People will rave about it for a while and then move onto the next thing.

Rubyroseyposey · 20/05/2022 11:38

Place local to me does a wide range of brunch type meals and unlimited hot drinks and booze for 2 hours which is 25.

I'd assume that drinks are free refillables.

Brunch type food, usually a posh fry up and unlimited cocktails

I went to one a few weeks ago, the smaller food was in the BB price but it was an extra £7 for the full breakfast

PoleFairy · 20/05/2022 11:39

Bottomless Prosecco / cocktails / beer for 2 hours and then some kind of brunch food like eggs benedict. Places like turtle Bay I think do burgers though and an Italian near us does a pizza one! So a pizza and 2 hours bottomless brunch. You normally end up table dancing at midday and passing out in a pub garden at 2pm

dogschewbones · 20/05/2022 11:39

I'd expect unlimited filter coffee/tea, but not fancy coffee. Unlimited buffet.

I wouldn't expect alcohol.

SagittariusDwarf · 20/05/2022 11:39

I'd check the menu online to see what it consists of.

in my (extensive) experience, it's breakfasty food chosen from a menu and unlimited Prosecco/cocktails subject to a time limit of around 2 hours. And it's a lot of fun.

The bottomless brunch idea, I think, has been ripped off from the Dubai brunch, only the ones here are not as extravagant, go on all day, or cost as much.

Generally speaking, the ones I've seen are a set price for a set length of time. The food is from a set menu of brunch type foods such as eggs benedict, fry up, waffles and fruit, etc. then unlimited Prosecco, soft drinks and cheaper type cocktails such as gin fizz.

Whatisaweekendzzz · 20/05/2022 11:43

I’d expect unlimited Prosecco and an order one breakfast type thing off a set menu. So something like eggs Benedict plus unlimited Prosecco

burnoutbabe · 20/05/2022 11:43

food wise when i have done it its usually choice of plates and generally been 1 savoury and 1 sweet (so i have eggs benedict, then waffles)

I have done it for £30 in London for decent 2 courses and unlimited teas/coffees and fruit juices. Others paid more and had drinks. That was TIMMY GREENS.

SoggyPaper · 20/05/2022 11:44

I’d expect it to happen in the afternoon, so not delivering on ‘brunch’ more ‘lunner’.

as far as I can tell, it’s generally a very much limited food situation (one brunch type dish per person) with as much of a (probably limited) range of drinks as you can get through in a clearly defined time period.

PurBal · 20/05/2022 11:46

I wouldn’t expect it to be bottomless for £20 if I’m honest. I’d expect some small print that said “up to X glasses” or a ridiculously short amount of time (like 90 minutes) and one dish.
In other countries bottomless brunch means unlimited food and drink (including premium items like lobster, oysters, champagne, cocktails) and 3+ hours. It’s an absolute waste of money in the UK.

Favouritefruits · 20/05/2022 11:46

As much fizz as you like and something off the breakfast menu.

user375242 · 20/05/2022 11:47

Some of these answers are hilarious. I've been to a few in a big city, it's usually pizza/American breakfast and unlimited alcoholic drinks for a set period of time.

user375242 · 20/05/2022 11:47

Not generally prosecco and English breakfast..
More cocktails and beer.

theobligatorynamechange · 20/05/2022 11:48

A very small amount of food (like eggs Benedict) and then unlimited booze, probably Prosecco.

Like some other posters have said, I could eat an unlimited amount of food, but only drink a small amount of alcohol, so I wouldn't do very well out of this deal, personally! It's really aimed at heavy drinkers.

I'd also expect the servers to top you up when your glass was empty (i.e. they are in control of dishing out the booze) and for the table to be for a set period of time, e.g. 90 minutes. And for everyone on the table to take the same deal.

Arsewangry · 20/05/2022 11:49

Are you going to put us out of our misery OP and let us know what your brunch included?

AnotherTroyforHertoBurn · 20/05/2022 11:49

Food of questionable quality, ditto the prosecco.

I hate the whole concept and would rather have one glass of decent fizz I have chosen myself.

WarrickDavisAsPlates · 20/05/2022 11:49

As others have said bottomless prosecco or similar and brunch food.

I imagine you got the bottomless drinks for £20 and had to pay the extra £12 for food? I have seen ones advertised where you have to buy your food separately from the "bottomless" price.

Alternatively: bottomless= no trousers or pants?

IncompleteSenten · 20/05/2022 11:50

Booze and fancy food. Both with free refills/seconds.

passport123 · 20/05/2022 11:51

Blimey, does everyone here drink in the mornings?!

Rosiestraws · 20/05/2022 11:52

I'm amazed at the £20 price originally mentioned... £32 seems more like it (and still a good price) and I would expect one food dish (maybe not even proper brunch style as a lot I have been to are burger and chips or whatever) and then it's usually 90 mins (occasionally 2 hrs) of bottomless fizz or a specific cocktail. I have seen some places that only do 1 hour too...

10HailMarys · 20/05/2022 11:54

I would expect a choice of decent breakfast-type meals (chosen from a menu, though - not a buffet) and unlimited Prosecco or buck's fizz. If people want different drinks, or extra food, then that would be added to the bill.

I'd expect to have the table for two hours or so, maybe?

thevanilla · 20/05/2022 11:55

About 90 mins worth of cheap Prosecco and one brunch item from the food menu. A recipe for lunchtime vomiting
