Has anyone heard of tattlelife, or am I out of touch? It was mentioned on the radio today, so I had to take a look.
Wow! What a negative site, I could not believe the viciousness of the posters on there. Some of the vloggers, intagrammers I am aware of and don't particularly like, so I don't follow them, so don't understand the effort these people put into criticism and spitefullness.
I most definitely won't be going down that rabbit hole again, made me feel dirty.

The jack monroe threads are an absolute cespit, vile vile vile disgusting comments all while thinking they're funny. When did mocking someone for their mental health struggles become acceptable. Beyond dire.

The Ashley Cain ones are good and the Alice Evans one was for a bit, but it's a boring now nothing is happening.

BoreOfWhabylon · 08/05/2022 07:50

That would be because TRAs don't constantly monitor TL for perceived "transphobia", target advertisers and try to bring spurious legal action against it, all of which they do to Mumsnet.

The Alice Evans and Mrs hinch fans have been doing that for yonks and got no where. Blame MN not tras for their heavy handed moderation!

dearhummingbirds · 08/05/2022 08:24

It definitely does depend on which thread you’re on. And whilst there might be some not so nice words about influencers, I’ve found that the community are good to each other and support each other.

FuzzyPenguin · 08/05/2022 08:27

I like it, Some threads are a bit much but I just don’t read those ones, but like here really. Mumsnet doesn’t always best reputation either.
The threads I read always show genuine concern for the innocent children who get dragged along in adult choices.

TheChosenTwo · 08/05/2022 08:29

@Catcrisis I sent you a PM.

A580Hojas · 08/05/2022 08:29

I'm not a member and I don't post on it, but I'm aware of Tattle and what it is.

I think it's a good thing that people pay attention to and can discuss the role of celebrities and influencers in public life. I think it's good that there is critical thinking going on, rather than just passive acceptance of the fakery of the modern world. On Mumsnet you can be critical of some celebs, but not others ... it's quite odd.

I remember a Sali Hughes thread on here years and years ago ... no doubt that was zapped. If Advanced Search hadn't been taken away I might have had a look for it.

duvetdrama · 08/05/2022 08:31

It's the weirdest concept...can't stand this person so I'll check their Instagram/watch their videos just so I can criticise them?? I don't get it. It's like saying you hate soap operas but go to the effort of watching every single episode of Eastenders just so you can slag it off 🤷‍♀️

ermagerdabear · 08/05/2022 08:32

I disagree. The people on there have brought to light what a huge grifter and liar Monroe is. They are very enlightening. For example, for all Monroe's lefty credentials and yelling at Tory politicians on Twitter, she hasn't paid her taxes in about two years and earns at least two grand a month through her Patreon which provides absolutely nothing to her subscribers, all while Monroe claims to be living on the breadline.

TitoMojito · 08/05/2022 08:32

It's a hideous little site. The threads about Alice Evans are horrendous. Plus the users keep coming on Twitter and Instagram to harass her. It's awful.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 08/05/2022 08:35

Perfectlystill · 07/05/2022 22:08

I think it's great

Yeah,it's no worse than MN when people get going!

Polkadotties · 08/05/2022 08:35

I’ve been on tattle for ages, however I stick mainly to the off topic and advice sections. I don’t really post on any of the big influencer threads. The gender thread is full of thoughtful discussion regarding the erosion of women’s rights. The JD v AH trial thread at the moment is brilliant

Handsnotwands · 08/05/2022 08:37

I only read a few threads, I’m not interested in most of the influencer ones. But I find most of the conversation informed and nuanced. Far more balanced and accepting than most MN threads

they exposed Sarah Akwisombe who was on track to scam a literal £million via unqualified and unsubstantiated “business coaching”

in the mutually backslapping world of big bucks influencer marketing culture I think it’s vital there is somewhere it can be discussed openly where it’s not those benefiting who control what is and isn’t said And we’ve seen that MN is not that place 🤷🏼‍♀️

Who cares? You don't need to announce it Hmm

Found the tattlelife user 🤣

Oh yes the big hoo ha about the nasty bullies who were just pointing out she'd done her fair amount of bullying in the past too.

rocketfromthecrypt · 08/05/2022 08:47

Some of the threads definitely go too far, though the same could be said about MN. But I do think it serves a purpose. Where else really exposes some of the nefarious activities of the influencers who monetise their families to sell impossible lifestyles to the vulnerable or gullible? I don't spend lots of time there but dip in and out occasionally.

LidlMissSunshine · 08/05/2022 08:49

I’ve been on TL for a while now Occasionally a thread can get a bit too personal and nasty, but to be fair, a lot of it is completely valid critique. So many influencers on the scam - making money out of their followers with undeclared ads and instigating sly pile-ons to anyone who challenges them.
Why shouldn’t they be called out? It’s not bullying, no one is targeting the individuals themselves. It’s just a place where people can talk about shitty online behaviour without getting shut down by ‘be kind’ all the time. No one’s obliged to be kind about people who themselves aren’t kind.

Chakraleaf · 08/05/2022 08:49

I love tattlelife!

Agree

katienana · 08/05/2022 08:54

I think its good that lies and scams can be exposed online but it goes way too far sometimes and you can't believe everything you read on there. I agree that there should be more protection for children of influencers who don't get to consent about their whole lives being online. I don't like personal insults being bandied around constantly but criticism of behaviour is fair game.

Hallyup89 · 08/05/2022 08:56

It's better than Mumsnet. You can actually talk about stuff without it getting deleted or risking getting yourself banned because it doesn't fit Mumsnet's agenda. Mumsnet hates it. The cattiness doesn't exist on there like it does on here either.

I expect this thread to disappear soon.

Sunnysundays33 · 08/05/2022 08:57

Just a bunch of sad acts with nothing going on in their own lives, waaaaaay to invested in other people's 😂

Beefcurtains79 · 08/05/2022 08:57

Them exposing Mother of Daughters was amazing, they really do their research tbh.
I couldn’t believe the amount of blatant and provable lies influencers and celebrities are telling on social media in order to sell things and line their own pockets.

LookAtHetGo · 08/05/2022 08:59

I love TL.

I only follow the threads that I enjoy - ones where celebrities and social media "stars" as held to account for what they post. There's so much grifting and lying. Tattle has the receipts.

TokyoSushi · 08/05/2022 09:02

It's viscous, but often really interesting, they're usually not far wrong.

TokyoSushi · 08/05/2022 09:02

Viscious!
