Has anyone heard of tattlelife, or am I out of touch? It was mentioned on the radio today, so I had to take a look.
Wow! What a negative site, I could not believe the viciousness of the posters on there. Some of the vloggers, intagrammers I am aware of and don't particularly like, so I don't follow them, so don't understand the effort these people put into criticism and spitefullness.
I most definitely won't be going down that rabbit hole again, made me feel dirty.

The Team RH threads are great. They saved me £60 😁

In all seriousness, I like the fact that really shitty behaviour by companies can be called out on there. But I haven’t really explored the rest of the site.

VanillaImpulse · 07/05/2022 23:39

I read it a lot when Philip Schofield first came out. There were a lot of rumours about him that were mentioned on there and probably would've made the main press. Then covid hit and that was all that was on the news for 2 years

Fizbosshoes · 07/05/2022 23:39

Ive read it before and I can't believe the irony of some of the comments that theyre following/watching people they seem to despise, and complaining how much money theyre making from social media...without realising they are effectively contributing to it.
I don't really follow anyone on instagram, or any youtube vloggers...but if I found them super annoying i'd stop watching or looking at their posts!Confused

6ft2inacompact · 07/05/2022 23:42

I like some of it and there can be some interesting and fair critiques of some social media personalities/families/influencers etc

but I agree often it can be unnecessarily vicious or posters who just seem weirdly fixated on a certain person and pick apart every single tiny thing they say or do to a ridiculous level

CrabPuff · 07/05/2022 23:44

This is a really good advert for it. I’d never heard of it and got stuck down a rabbit hole. The Alice Evans threads are gripping.

TheAbbotOfUnreason · 07/05/2022 23:48

I dip in and out of it (same with the fruit farms). Quite useful for info on knowing who probably shouldn’t be allowed near vulnerable people.

Absolutely this - the Team RH threads have really exposed what the company and those who work there are really like - review sites like Trust Pilot are heavily monitored so bad reviews seem to get removed very quickly. So Tattlelife definitely has it's uses in this respect - it is a safe place for people to share their experiences about companies/people.

purpledagger · 07/05/2022 23:57

I first became aware of Tattle through the Mother of Daughters scandal, as I wanted to know what was going on.

Then I was gripped by the styled by Susie threads and Ashley Caun and Alice Evans/ioan Gruffudd.

A few of the posts do cross the line in my opinion, but the vast majority, I've read are reasonable. I think it's important to have a place to discuss the murky world of social media influencers, to show that a lot of it is just smoke and mirrors.

PansyPetunia · 08/05/2022 00:00

They are very inquisitive around fundraisers and where the 'funds' actually go

Part time working mummy
Ashley cain and the Azaylia foundation

Bit of an eye opener to be honest

Manekinek0 · 08/05/2022 00:00

I had a look ages ago and it isn't for me but I think many of the influencers behaviour is far worse.

Sortilege · 08/05/2022 00:02

I had a look when it was mentioned here years ago. Not for me, but good to know the kind of mindsets that are out there.

It was the Phillip Schofield rumours that introduced me to Tattle. That was very eye opening and so have a lot of other threads especially about certain influencers I was following and the secret celeb gossip one for a good laugh

Yes it can be brutal but some are just good chat like the “what ever happened to….” threads

Peoniesandpeaches · 08/05/2022 00:11

I was introduced to it through the chateau diaries. I was watching some of their videos and becoming increasingly disillusioned by their behavior and the site opened my eyes to how much they were scamming people. There are posts/people who go too far but when influencers can delete comments and control the narrative I think it plays a role in balancing the scales.

ArtVandalay · 08/05/2022 00:24

I quite like it! I agree it exposes many of the influencers for what they are.

Although some threads are unnecessarily spiteful. For example, there is one on there about ‘Bowel Babe’ which, in the main, is nasty. The poor woman is dying fgs.

louderthan · 08/05/2022 00:27

I probably spend more time on there than I do on here. Yes some of it is vile (but some threads on here are pretty bad...!)
I've read some really nuanced and intelligent discussion about body shaming, cultural appropriation, BLM etc etc.
I do think that a forum for calling out influencer culture and fakery is valuable. And if you are going to plaster your kids over the internet for money then you should expect to get criticised for it.

CarrieCookie · 08/05/2022 00:32

The Radford family thread is shocking and very amusing.

Sunnytwobridges · 08/05/2022 00:33

I actually enjoy it, not as bad as I thought it would be.

Triceratopsrock · 08/05/2022 00:37

It’s a shame that all the valid discussions on there about the ethics of “influencing” and especially the use of children get lost in the utter spiteful bile.

latetothefisting · 08/05/2022 00:42

I think it's a bit ironic-if I find a certain celebrity irritating I just try to avoid them...but in order to post about the influencers the users must have to follow everything they post, so winding themselves up but also adding to the influencer's likes/watches/page views etc and therefore contributing in their popularity, continued presence and funding!

Its not nice to be bitched about, but if I was getting paid every time someone said they hated me it would certainly take the edge off it....

NeverTalksToStrangers · 08/05/2022 00:48

I like it. I completely avoid all influencer chats though because I just find all influencers 🙄and I don't give a shit about or follow any. I find Instagram baffling anyway (because I'm old af (early 40s) probably 😂).

It's also one of the few places online, like mumsnet, where JKR is treated with the respect she deserves by most posters.

waitingforspringflowers · 08/05/2022 00:59

Is this a mmmm?

FirstFallopians · 08/05/2022 01:15

There’s a few YouTubers I watch- they seem like nice enough, fairly normal individuals with a relatively small following. They have some slightly annoying tendencies, but overall seem like ok people.

Both have Tattle threads ongoing about them, their content and their perceived lifestyles. I LOVE a bit of celebrity gossip, but it goes beyond that- so much of it is just downright nasty and mean spirited. I felt a bit dirty after reading it. I’ve been on MN for ages and there’s no way posters here would get away with diagnosing complete strangers with very serious personality or mental disorders or just making libellous claims with no evidence and not be called out on it in the same way as on Tattle.

Some of the less toxic threads are very very funny, and those fuckers know their stuff when it comes to digging around various YouTubers on Companies House…

TheChosenTwo · 08/05/2022 02:00

I’ve never actually joined it to add to it but I lurk there and read. It’s bloody funny, one persons in particular, funnier than MN and has me howling with laughter every single time I read it.
no kids involved, i don’t read much else other than this one blokes thread so can’t comment on that side of things.
but tattlers have me creased

ISpyCobraKai · 08/05/2022 02:15

I love it, Secret celebrity gossip is my favourite, I like the gender stuff too.
Some of the threads go too far, but I avoid those.
Also they never have a bad word to say about my beloved Harry Styles 😍

Kedece2410 · 08/05/2022 02:45

Some of the threads are real eye openers. The Stacey Solomon one being a good example.
