Has anyone heard of tattlelife, or am I out of touch? It was mentioned on the radio today, so I had to take a look.
Wow! What a negative site, I could not believe the viciousness of the posters on there. Some of the vloggers, intagrammers I am aware of and don't particularly like, so I don't follow them, so don't understand the effort these people put into criticism and spitefullness.
I most definitely won't be going down that rabbit hole again, made me feel dirty.

OP posts:

Oh cmon, we have all seen the site, it’s no where near some intelligent discussion on issues with influencers, it’s predominantly obsessed jealous posters stalking, speculating and ripping them apart.

intelligent discussion can take place on many sites, Inc on here, tattlelife is not that. I’d be ashamed to be part of it.

I can only assume you have read a wide selection of the posts on there over a period of time to have come to a conclusion that there is no discussion of the issues surrounding influencers. How else could you know that? You do realise that makes you part of it?

Beefcurtains79 · 08/05/2022 10:29

There are plenty of other threads and areas that are nothing to do with influencers and celebs. Its good for money saving, and I like the gender discussion and the questions and answers thread as well.

I found it because Sali Hughes did a big thing about how people in the internet were bullying her and that's where it originated. I followed her on Instagram at the time.

I quite like some of the threads, but there are some that are really really vicious and I do wonder at the posters who seem to follow influencers and celebrities who they seem disgusted by. Particularly people like random Vicky from geordie shore or whatever, for example, who you could easily avoid if you don't like her - not as if she's all over the tv and internet all the time. But it takes all sorts I suppose.

Ironically Sali Hughes was complaining about it because posts kept referencing how badly Sali publicly bullied the former beauty writer Lauren Luke out of her job. Complete hypocrite, but very clever and calculated to make sure “Sali Hughes bully” searches now only lead to her painted as the victim.

The threads following recent court cases were interesting too. Mumsnet tends to delete posts about these and one case in particular had a really good thread on tattle about it which I followed.

Tinkerblonde1 · 08/05/2022 10:32

Hallyup89 · 08/05/2022 08:56

It's better than Mumsnet. You can actually talk about stuff without it getting deleted or risking getting yourself banned because it doesn't fit Mumsnet's agenda. Mumsnet hates it. The cattiness doesn't exist on there like it does on here either.

I expect this thread to disappear soon.

You make a good point. The kindness to other posters is a lot more polite than some posters here.

Crimeismymiddlename · 08/05/2022 10:48

I like it. Some of the comments are extremely nasty and I avoid some threads due to this but a lot of them are just calling out bullshit and in some cases issues with children who are being over exposed/used for content. A lot of the parents that complain about being bullied on Tattle have absolutely no problems with earning money of the back of minors who have no choice but to go along with every single thing being documented on said parents social media.
Sometimes the influencers/celebrities are just worthy of discussion.
If you have a look under the comments of peoples instagram people say a lot worse to them than you see on Tattle.

ParrotsAteThemAll · 08/05/2022 10:53

I pop on from time to time to read the Caroline Hirons skincare freaks Facebook group thread! The posters on the FB page are an embarrassment, sob stories, close up selfies of puffy eyes begging asking what creaming will fix their broken heart, worshiping their ‘god and saviour’ Hirons it’s beyond cringe. So yeah the Tattle page is very entertaining!

CosmopolitanPlease · 08/05/2022 10:56

@Thesearmsofmine ooh which court case was that please?

I wouldn't say I like tattle but it has its place. If I start to get a bad feeling about a person in the public eye I look them up on tattle and my suspicions are always confirmed with receipts. JM, SH, Cashley, and the parents of a disabled boy whose motives I question have all had illuminating threads on there whereas they can't be named here.

Bogofballs · 08/05/2022 11:25

@Fancylike yep Sali and friends used SM to publicly bully Lauren Luke out of her career and led to Lauren’s breakdown poor woman. Now Sali is complaining about being bullied via SM. She has also bullied other women including the lovely Dawn O’Porter. Pot calling kettle black! Also she is actively using India Knight (a friend?) to promote her product line, even though India continues to live with her convicted paedophile husband (and a baby was involved). Anyone with morals would dissociate themselves from such circles.

Its not black and white OP. There is good and bad in everyone including tattle and mumsnet users. I wish everyone was decent and did the right thing, but both tattlers and influencers are guilty of poor behaviour and it needs calling out. Especially as people will get into debt trying to emulate their unobtainable lifestyles.

Bogofballs · 08/05/2022 11:28

Just to be clear I’m not saying Sali has anything to do with India and husband, but if offered a slot in her column I would turn it down. It’s quite obvious that the column was a favourable piece for an old friend and not an objective review…. Or at least that is how it appears to readers when we know they used to be friends.

LidlMissSunshine · 08/05/2022 11:29

Flavourflava · 08/05/2022 10:17

Do the Jack Monroe people have an alert for her all across the internet? It's so weird, literally any time she's mentioned anywhere they appear "ACTUALLY HER DAD WAS A LANDLORD AND SHE DOESN'T PAY HER TAX".

I haven't kept up with her since she used to flounce off Twitter every two weeks and her list of ailments became laughable. I assume she hasn't changed but this behaviour is also completely unhinged. Ok, you don't like her, calm down.

I think the reason some people get a bit het up is because she’s a proven liar and demonstrably on the grift at best/fraudulent at worst. Same goes for most of the other influencers who are critiqued on that site. And yet there are people who will say ‘oh why are you bothered? If you don’t like watching people defraud the trusting general public then just unfollow them and get on with your life.’

I mean… I just don’t get that line of argument at all.

And to call it abuse is a misnomer. Criticising people in the public eye isn’t ‘abuse’ or ‘bullying’. It’s not done to their face. It’s a discussion on a relatively tiny forum in one corner of the internet. If influencers, etc, go looking for it and they don’t like what they read then that’s on them. I’d be the first to say it’s utterly out of order to go on someone’s timeline or Instagram page and post a load of targeted, unkind comments. But on TL no one is talking TO the influencers, they’re talking ABOUT them.

If influencers don’t want to be talked about, why invest so much in raising their profile and growing followers? To expect to be able to completely control all conversations about them and be immune from all criticism speaks to raging narcissism.

Figgygal · 08/05/2022 11:31

Ive no clue who they are talking about a lot of the time

I cant follow it

bandhee · 08/05/2022 11:39

I had a look at it once. Never again. I don't know anyone who admits to posting there.

There might be some decent folk on there but they're lost among the bullies and conspiracy theorists.

The discussion of celebs and influencers sounds extremely infantile and childish, and vicious, which they appear to enjoy, where personal appearance (about other women) is concerned.

Beefcurtains79 · 08/05/2022 11:44

Posters on Tattle might be vicious about influencers, however they are not vicious to each other, unlike on here.

Carrotten · 08/05/2022 11:49

I think it's really a vile site

Yes sometimes there are valid points raised, but essentially that justification is used to hide a real hatred of people. Posters will often say they are doing good work to justify writing something really quite nasty about an celeb/influencer.

It's something about the obsession of that hatred that really gets me, following someone fairly obsessively, commenting on their every move on the site, making up vile names for their family and children, messaging these influencers. It's just obsessive and quite sad. And then they will all egg each other on. And sometimes the behaviour is quite stalkerish and past what should be normal for disliking someone online

bandhee · 08/05/2022 11:51

Beefcurtains79 · 08/05/2022 11:44

I disagree. I saw various childish scuffles, calling each other horrible names, on some of the Tattle threads.

They were obsessed with someone called Maura (an influencer?) and her double chin when I looked. It was very bizarre. Pulling apart her appearance, back patting, while breaking into argument amongst themselves at the same time.

Carrotten · 08/05/2022 11:52

Posters on tattle will be vicious towards posters if they say something that goes against the general thoughts of that thread. If you say something supportive for example of an influencer. It's just like bullies in a playground hyping each other up, they will be nice to each other as long as you massage each others opinions and egos. But you quite literally aren't allowed to give positive opinions on many threads

How is that any different to on here? Quite often the first couple of replies will set the tone

CutesyUserName · 08/05/2022 12:43

The Off Topic threads on Tattle about Mumsnet are hilarious! They are currently discussing this thread 😂

Tediumincarnate · 08/05/2022 12:47

I don’t post on tattle but sometimes refer there to get more detail on a topic than is available on mumsnet. There are some shocking true facts on there which you wouldn’t otherwise know, but which should be more widely known.

but agree some of the posts are toxic

7eleven · 08/05/2022 13:05

It’s been mentioned, but people really need to look at the Part Time Working Mum thread. They really do, if they’ve ever sent her money.

BornIn78 · 08/05/2022 13:15

I got directed to Tattle via a PM on here a few years ago when I was actually defending Jack Monroe on a thread in here.

Wow, eyes opened! She’s a grifter and I’m actually laughing at the PP who talks about her “activism”.

jamoncrumpets · 08/05/2022 13:22

I'm not a member but I read the Ashley Cain threads because anyone with half a brain can see he's spending fundraising money on all kinds of toot.

Chakraleaf · 08/05/2022 14:14

I agree about Ashley Caine:(
