love it but as an engagement ring - couldn't imaging wearing it just as a normal ring

I prefer your original pear cut one but you choose and buy what YOU want and can see yourself wearing it for many years to come.

Not to my taste at all. Too complicated and I don’t like diamonds clusters. I also prefer cold to silver/ white gold/ platinum.

Of course none of that matters if you like it

I don't like it as it isn't my style at all but that isn't what matters. As others have said - if you like it, then that's fine.

When I was searching for my wedding ring, I really wanted silver but with diamonds. They are relatively hard to come by because silver is softer than white gold or platinum so the diamonds aren't as safe (true! I did have to replace a small diamond!) so I was limited in choice.

I got one I liked but didn't love.

However, years on and I do love it.

If you're not as limited in choice, keep looking until you love one so much you don't even want to ask others what they think because you don't care.

I like it. Is it for an engagement ring? Because the only thing I'd be wary of is I'm not sure you'd then get a wedding ring to match in because of the shape. I feel like big rings like this work best on their own and wedding rings alongside them detract.
