What really disappoints you???

Light hearted thread....

What really disappoints me is having a beautiful watermelon sitting waiting to be eaten only to finally cut it open and it's tastes of nothing! No juice/no flavour, and it was definitely ripe, been sat ripening for a week.

I agree about the litter. There is a viewpoint overlooking a beauty spot near my house and over the railing it is full of litter. I don't understand the mentality of the people who go their to admire the view and then decide to chuck their fast food wrappers at it.

PaperTyger · 02/04/2022 16:56

Oh yes, another diassapointment is having a table loaded with dirty glasses and plates And a waitress comes near or ask s something but doesn't actually take then away.

It's such basic training surely!!

Take dirty plates!!

My kids, they are only thinking about themselves.

Hot chocolate - sounds wonderful especially on a cold day but if you buy even an expensive one out it always seems to be weak or grainy or has a taste of artificial sweetener. Even trying different varieties at home I have yet to find one that delivers the rich smooth deliciousness that the words "hot chocolate" conjure up in my mind. ( All suggestions gratefully received)

Athena51 · 02/04/2022 17:08

Biting into what looks to be a crunchy, juicy apple only to find that it's woolly tasting and horrible. in fact fruit disappointment is a definite thing. As a child/teenager in the 1970s and 80s fruit seemed to be much tastier. I couldn't get enough of it but so much of it is just meh these days.

I could just be a moany old fart though who knows Smile

When I buy a coffee but it’s too milky and weak.

dipdye · 02/04/2022 17:15

Walking into a house that doesn't smell like home cooked food when you've been invited for dinner.

So disappointed

collieresponder88 · 02/04/2022 17:40

When your order an Indian and popadums but the dips are missing !

PaperTyger · 02/04/2022 17:43

On another restaurant/pub one.

Why oh why have sandwich only at lunch or a ploughman's only at lunch!!

PaperTyger · 02/04/2022 17:49

Oh yes hot chocolate.
Some are slimy goo, some are actually hot melted chocolate!

TheDoveFromAboveCooCoo · 02/04/2022 18:55

@KatnissNeverdone

Satsumas. They're either magnificent or wholly pathetic and you can never tell whivh you're going to get.
Omg this absolutely!! Why are they so bloody volatile!

See also avocados - miss that 5 second ripeness window and you are screwed.

100problems · 02/04/2022 18:56

Treating yourself to eggs benedict and the poached egg isn't runny

100problems · 02/04/2022 18:59

Also buying a Charlotte Tilbury lipgloss at duty free only to find the end has dropped off in the tube. Customer Service response, have to return it to source. Angry

dogs that you stop to pat but they run right past you Sad

Laughing away to these, in sad recognition. Woolly apples, the electorate and undercooked aubergine (not in that order) are painful.
Bullies making themselves out as victims.
When decent series live on past laurels (or worst become a pastiche of past glories) thinking Killing Eve (best ever first series) GBBO etc.
Paying for a babysitter to go to a film.
Going out in general.

MrsHugget · 02/04/2022 19:23

Avocados- I rarely hit ripeness jackpot and last week was served some blackened ones hiding under vile poached eggs and vinegary sauce (Bob and Berts- vile)
Satsumas, tangerines. Barely buy them.
But my biggest disappointment in minor league issues is buying nice make up and it still being my face EVERY SINGLE TIME. It never improves 😂

floridana · 02/04/2022 19:25

The local newspaper. It's always full of dull non-news you've already heard about on Facebook anyway and adverts for gardeners. It takes about 2 minutes to read.

Christmas Day - why us it all the fun us in the run-up? I love the shopping, wrapping, films and music but Once the day arrives I can't be bothered

dannydyerismydad · 02/04/2022 19:31

The postman.

Actually, our postie is a lovely chap. But I've been waiting for an important piece of mail for MONTHS. Every time I hear the post hit the doormat my hopes are dashed.

Eggsley · 02/04/2022 19:35

@D0lphine I find the Avon gel look nail varnish is good, as long as you use the top coat and use rubber gloves for washing up or cleaning. Not too expensive either. It lasts me about a week with 2 coats plus top coat. Although I work in an office so don't really do anything except typing all week.

I am disappointed by eggs being in cakes. I am allergic to eggs Sad

Fruit tea actually tastes of disappointment.

Iamblossom · 02/04/2022 19:37

Omigod reading these out to DH and we are all agreeing vehemently with:

Peaches, satsumas, oranges, avocados and hot chocolate

Litter yes, takeaways, yes, Sky yes.

I'm going to add MacDonalds

Overnight hotel stays
