What really disappoints you???

Light hearted thread....

What really disappoints me is having a beautiful watermelon sitting waiting to be eaten only to finally cut it open and it's tastes of nothing! No juice/no flavour, and it was definitely ripe, been sat ripening for a week.

My kids bickering... again.

And YABU @FrancescaContini baked potatoes are amazing!! :)

ColtBolt · 02/04/2022 14:24

Humanity.

Is there hope for any of us?

Otherwise, I am repeatedly disappointed that I have so much more energy when I eat a big bowl of broccoli than I do when I eat a pint of Häagen Dazs Pralines and Cream. 😢

MidgeYoure · 02/04/2022 14:30

Steak… always seems to disappoint, no matter how much you pay for it, wether at a restaurant or for home cooking.
Agree with PPs about satsumas… used to be lovely when I was little, this Xmas, they were so grotty that I gave up with buying them.
Likewise peaches, frequently got ‘belly ache’ from eating so many as a child, now don’t even bother with them and buy tinned if I fancy them.

Dippy egg disappointment - when you’ve been craving dippy eggs then despite cooking it just right it isn’t quite dippy enough

Yes, Yes, whole-heartedly YES!

ilovesooty · 02/04/2022 14:44

The electorate.

Sorry - not lighthearted.

Helocariad · 02/04/2022 15:05

Hot cross buns. They never taste like they should. Bought posh ones from the bakery earlier and they were DRY 😑

Also, people who serially complain about their abusive partner/boss, get tons of sympathy and advice, practical help with starting separation/grievance procedures etc, but never do anything about it. Sorry, not lighthearted this one.

TheZenOne22 · 02/04/2022 15:21

Totally agree with the satsumas - but mmm when you get a good one 😋

The ‘must read’ 5 star books of the year which always ends up being rather disappointing.

Also, being inside and baking from the sun shining through the windows to find out it’s frickin’ freezing outside Grin

notprincehamlet · 02/04/2022 15:34

Continuing the fruit-based disappointment - peaches. Rarely get a good un. Also Labour under Starmer. And life in general.

Isobelslider · 02/04/2022 15:38

Sky

The final straw and why I will be cancelling the contract when it ends is when the best film they can dig out of the depths to show is Fast and Furious 9.

notprincehamlet · 02/04/2022 15:39

Apologies, I see that the crushing disappointment of the contemporary peach has already been raised

JayAlfredPrufrock · 02/04/2022 15:43

Eating out. I am disappointed almost every time.

But I remain ever so ‘opeful.

Helocariad · 02/04/2022 15:49

Yes, peaches!

PeskyRooks · 02/04/2022 15:55

The taste of a fruit or herbal tea compared to the smell!
When I put on some new clothes and look in the mirror and..nope..I still look like me! 😁

alittlefickle · 02/04/2022 15:57

@PeskyRooks

I love the smell of camomile - the taste, not so much ... in fact. No.

Satsuma disappointment- I always buy the Jaffa easy peelers from Tesco and they have always been juicy and tasty.
Avocado, never put in fruit bowl or near to citrus fruit after buying or they will appear fine but be black inside.

Jellybellyfun88 · 02/04/2022 16:24

By how thick and ignorant so many people are by not wearing masks to protect themselves and others

Madre123 · 02/04/2022 16:28

My wonderful hard working husband working so extremely hard for us both ....only one slight pay rise in years and seeing him so exhausted every day and constant pressure from employer.....Certainly not paid his worth and putting so many more hours in than his team.....no support....makes me so angry

TCMolly · 02/04/2022 16:29

€32 spent on a Mac Stack mascara.
Supposed to be the best mascara ever.
No, worn off after 3 hours.

Fitterbyfifty · 02/04/2022 16:32

Watermelons are never going to be good in April! (Unless you're not in the UK of course). I think a lot of fruit disappointments can be put down to buying out of season - just buy in the correct season and as close to home as possible.

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 02/04/2022 16:33

@notprincehamlet and @JayAlfredPrufrock - is it coincidence that you posted right after each other?

PinkArt · 02/04/2022 16:43

@Mamette Have you tried schar? The seeded one especially is lovely. They are tiny but to me taste like actual bread rather than cardboard and disappointment!

ImplementingTheDennisSystem · 02/04/2022 16:52

Litter. It's everywhere and such a symbol of society's selfishness.

AnastasiaRomanov · 02/04/2022 16:53

Eating out
Takeaways
Getting in the shower and finding you forgot to put the water on so it’s cold
Friends who are still too scared of Covid to meet up.
Finding out people you trusted have been talking behind your back
Expecting to enjoy watching something on TV and it turns out to be yet more rubbish
All the absolute crap in the shops.. especially clothes which all look like they’ve been made out of scraps by colour blind people who can’t sew or use scissors properly.
