Since weve almost managed to fill our 6th thread I thought I should start the next so we have somewhere to sc

If you're lucky enough not to know what I'm on about Semantle is a word game like Wordle. You need to find the secret word of the day, but it works by semantics, not letters. So you input a word and it will tell you how close you are. You have infinite guesses.

For example, one of the secret words was 'costly' with expensive, cumbersome and burdensome being the three closest words.

A relatively straightforward one today for me

I solved Semantle #61 in 40 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 1.89. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #11. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 86.44 (999/1000). semantle.novalis.org/

Also tried my native language one (linked in the faqs below the game) and got today's in 54 guesses - I will add it to my daily games lineup too

I'm not finding this straight forward. As below it seems like I got a red herring and I am struggling to think away from it

Can anyone give me a clue to move in from 811, 917 or 963 please before my brain explodes....

Whether the word brings 917 about may depend on your social and political worldview ...

Thank you @moofolk I went down the completely wrong track. Got it now, but as I had to clear cookies on phone I won't share the score because it seems I got it in 20 when it is more like 220

I solved my first semantle! Largely helped by one of the comments above but still very happy.

OMFG I got 999 as my first green (I KNOW) and now I can't for the life of me complete it. I could have sworn I've tried all the closest words/synonyms

Think parts of speech rather than synonyms.
