Since weve almost managed to fill our 6th thread I thought I should start the next so we have somewhere to sc

If you're lucky enough not to know what I'm on about Semantle is a word game like Wordle. You need to find the secret word of the day, but it works by semantics, not letters. So you input a word and it will tell you how close you are. You have infinite guesses.

For example, one of the secret words was 'costly' with expensive, cumbersome and burdensome being the three closest words.

If you want to join in the fun followthis linkand prepare to lose your sanity.

If you want to see how we've been getting on up to now our previous thread ishere. We tend to use the threads to rant about how we're getting nowhere, celebrate our successes and laugh about the previous day's top 1000 but please, no spoilers. Subtle hints only here; use DMs for more obvious clues.

Enjoy!

@SouperNoodle think of a characteristic the highest greendoers share.

ErrolTheDragon · 05/04/2022 09:28

Phew.

I solved Semantle #66 in 155 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 16.57. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #19. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 56.08 (995/1000). semantle.novalis.org/

@SouperNoodle you are close. Think American, you know the theme.

Got it in 67 today! Only 7 greens and they all made sense.

I think lots of greens can make it harder!

ErrolTheDragon · 05/04/2022 09:34

I'm not sure it's so much 'think American' as that they often use the word with its more general meaning, brits perhaps tend to use it with its more specific slant?

SouperNoodle · 05/04/2022 09:35

Thanks for the clues guys! I nearly lost my mind on this one but I finally got it 😂

I solved Semantle #66 in 114 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 18.02. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #14. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 56.08 (995/1000). semantle.novalis.org/

SouperNoodle · 05/04/2022 09:36

That blue box you get when you win makes me so happy! 😂

FlippyFloppyFlappy · 05/04/2022 09:44

Me too Souper, it's like winning a prize 😂

RoxieLoxy · 05/04/2022 09:54

I solved Semantle #66 in 90 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of -2.09. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #44. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 28.33 (692/1000). semantle.novalis.org/

BIWI · 05/04/2022 09:56

Argh! Can't get beyond 970.

I have:

970
960

958

943

922

917

805

796

712

Obviously a theme with these, but just can't get any higher. Any clues, please?!

RoxieLoxy · 05/04/2022 09:57

I like the blue box too. Almost makes me jump when it appears 😂 And I like it when the word is a 'thing' rather than something boring. No idea why 😂

SouperNoodle · 05/04/2022 10:01

@BIWI you're not quite on the right track yet. Think about different things you might do in 960

BIWI · 05/04/2022 10:06

I solved Semantle #66 in 105 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 1.58. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #17. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 56.08 (995/1000). semantle.novalis.org/

Finally! Thanks for the hints @SouperNoodle and @RoxieLoxy!

I was definitely heading down the wrong track there - I had thought it might somehow be 'opposite' but that didn't take me anywhere with the guesses I made!

AngeloMysterioso · 05/04/2022 10:07

I solved Semantle #66 in 55 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of -1.44. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #12. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 44.90 (985/1000). semantle.novalis.org/

Nice easy one today!

A 970 structure can help with participation

comfortablyfrumpy · 05/04/2022 10:37

Got it, but golly that was annoying!'

HeadacheGrey · 05/04/2022 10:49

@ElegantlyTouched we'll be needing a new thread soon or is there one and I've missed it?

ThePontiacBandit · 05/04/2022 10:56

Got an early green (711) that was actually quite helpful, based on a bit of a pattern I’ve noticed. The hints here got me to high greens and the win! Well above average and I think one of my best so far:

I solved Semantle #66 in 50 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 7.84. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #27. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 56.08 (995/1000). semantle.novalis.org/

Wallawallakoala · 05/04/2022 12:37

So from what I've read, is it something general related to 985?
