Semantle thread 4 is almost full and there's still plenty of love (and hate 🤣) for the game, so here's a new thread for Sunday's game.

If you're lucky enough not to know what I'm on about Semantle is a word game like Wordle. You need to find the secret word of the day, but it works by semantics, not letters. So you input a word and it will tell you how close you are. You have infinite guesses.

For example, one of the secret words was 'costly' with expensive, cumbersome and burdensome being the three closest words.

I solved Semantle #54 in 67 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 10.56. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #4. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 81.99 (999/1000). semantle.novalis.org/

I am over 200 guesses in, and have only 3 low greens, 154, 207 and 209. I think I am stuck in a dead end. Please can someone give me a hint to get back on track?

154 does have a wierd connection to the word... think of other similar things. As for 207&209... nope.

Although I suppose 209 is sort of shaped like one...

I got too specific on certain words so spent ages going round in circles. Broadened the subject and got it straight away.
No need for synonyms today.

Never heard of this game until I clicked on this thread just now. Obviously I got very lucky on my first go!

With a little help from a decent early guess and some of the hints here

No IDEA how that happened. I got a very ow green on guess 23 and by pure luck followed this in the right direction.

Having just had a very MN lunch, I can see how there might to be a connection to 209, as there is to 207. There's a completely different theme possible!

Thing is, we might have all done it quite quickly but I bet none of us had many in the 900s..they're mostly words that just aren't in my vocabulary and assume I'm not only speaking for myself 😀
