Semantle thread 4 is almost full and there's still plenty of love (and hate 🤣) for the game, so here's a new thread for Sunday's game.

If you're lucky enough not to know what I'm on about Semantle is a word game like Wordle. You need to find the secret word of the day, but it works by semantics, not letters. So you input a word and it will tell you how close you are. You have infinite guesses.

For example, one of the secret words was 'costly' with expensive, cumbersome and burdensome being the three closest words.

Five mins later ...

I solved Semantle #54 in 60 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 13.46. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #38. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 27.11 (612/1000). semantle.novalis.org/

I had two words that I'd consider to be closely related that were cold, but I think that's because I think if it in one context and they've majored on another.

Surprised myself today!

I solved Semantle #54 in 20 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 6.02. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #7. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 15.89. semantle.novalis.org/

I took a somewhat indirect route

I got it on a totally random guess! It kinda takes the fun out of it 😂

So weird this game, there's quite a lot of words I'd presume would score highly, but they're not even green 🤔

After the last few days, I am happy with this one

My problem today was getting 495 early on. Quite unrelated to the other words on the list!

I don’t normally post my score, just lurk about for clues when I get stuck. However this morning I was delighted with myself for getting it in 22 so I thought I’d share, only to find when I got here every bugger’s done it in twenty today!

Got it in 5, I was all settled in for my usual 100+ guesses.

I was so pleased - only three non-green guesses today!

I'm on the depressing side theme!!! And can't get off it

Whiffle it is still from the depressing side theme, but it would have been easier to get to from another route.

It's very related to some of them, from an 840 899 perspective isn't it?

I only had three lowish green ones and then by some random fluke got it!

@ErrolTheDragon I've mixed my numbers... 459 not 495! 495 is related.

Word association is funny though... the side tangent people are talking about looks really obvious answer to me... but DH works in that area...
