Semantle thread 4 is almost full and there's still plenty of love (and hate 🤣) for the game, so here's a new thread for Sunday's game.

If you're lucky enough not to know what I'm on about Semantle is a word game like Wordle. You need to find the secret word of the day, but it works by semantics, not letters. So you input a word and it will tell you how close you are. You have infinite guesses.

For example, one of the secret words was 'costly' with expensive, cumbersome and burdensome being the three closest words.

I solved Semantle #54 in 4 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 34.76 (881/1000).My penultimate guess had a similarity of 38.64 (938/1000). semantle.novalis.org/

I've only been playing a couple of days and have been totally the other end of the scale so I'm well pleased today!

I solved Semantle #54 in 24 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 9.80. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #6. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 26.92 (602/1000). semantle.novalis.org/

Haven't got any green words yet and I'm just going around in circles.

Got it in 13 today, should feel pleased but almost feel cheated as it didn't take long and now I need to wait until tomorrow again :)

Well, I'm stuck in my usual hole of having discovered a couple of low-ish greens early on (guess 12 was 814, then all the associated words I could think of were cold apart from guess 16, which gave me 602) but now I'm up to guess 28 and only have cold ones, as my stupid brain is stuck in an 814-related rut! So impressed with everyone who gets it in under 50, nevermind those of you getting it in around 20, you bastards!!

I solved Semantle #54 in 17 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 2.55. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #6. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 67.71 (998/1000). semantle.novalis.org/
Got it very quickly today. Don't know if I'm happy or sad about that.

The number given was for brew, so a bearded bloke doing this is likely to be a craft brewer.

Was fairly straightforward once I got my first green, though I did go off on a useless tangent for about 10 guesses.

814 and 602 are actually quite a good combo. Its a bit like a 602 in some ways, think about what else is in 814

Got it in 140, pleased with that - I don’t try and minimise my number of guesses and I don’t Google / use a thesaurus. I only come on here for clues in extremis.

I feel kind of cheated I got it so early in the day...now I have no excuse not to be productive!

Got it without a clue in the end. Tried a different tangent and it worked. Slowly, lol.

I am over 200 guesses in, and have only 3 low greens, 154, 207 and 209. I think I am stuck in a dead end. Please can someone give me a hint to get back on track?
