Last year there was a lovely long running thread about doing one thing a day that you've been putting off, or just to enjoy the cumulative effect of one extra daily 'thing'.
I'd like to start again, if anyone would like to join me.

Today, I have pulled out a drawer of a little used bureau cabinet, got rid of what is junk, and wiped the drawer out and organised what's left a bit more neatly.

I have given the shower screen a really good clean. It always has a soap film on it but I've tackled it!
Also did an emergency kitchen wipe down as the hairdresser was coming Blush. Put the fruit bowl on the table for the first time in months, it looks quite at home there.

I realised I’ve been feeling very anxious because I’m broke… so I actually sent an invoice to a customer this afternoon. He’s a good payer so finger’s crossed it’s in my account tomorrow. Isn’t that ridiculous? Putting off sending an invoice… Blush

Are there more invoices to go out?
We'll jolly you along!

Thanks everyone, I have cleaned the kitchen properly and done some other minutiae on the list!

Well done on sending that invoice Edge.

I've been doing lots of putting bits away. Wiping up dodgy marks that I have been ignoring for a fortnight, one on the hall floor I'd just covered up with the rug 😣. Anyway they've been sorted over the last two days. I'm going to clean the fingerprints off the glass doors now. Meant to be done in weekly hour on Monday but I had let the house get too bad. I am not decluttering or sorting inside anything this week. Just doing surfaces.

I love hearing about all the projects!

I am nearly at the bottom of the laundry basket (we produce a lot of laundry!) but this morning I did all the drop offs and the supermarket shop/fridge clear out before work. Felt very virtuous. Have also researched energy surveyors and landscape gardeners for the new by house and contacted a couple.

Didn’t do the tasks I said I would yesterday though!

Today I have prepared S2's room for his return.

opened the window
put the loose books away in the cupboard
pulled the bed away from the walls a bit to let the air circulate
emptied water from and refilled moisture traps
cleaned the window frame and opening mechanism (to the obvious confusion of Over-The-Back's dog, who has never witnessed this before)
dusted desk and bedside cabinet
dusted behind radiator
hoover-dusted the walls, lightshade and behind the bed (accidentally killing the spider which had been dislodged by the window cleaning)
hoovered the floor
put the lightshade back Blush
made the bed

Will move the reed diffuser out of there tomorrow and maybe open the window again for a bit.

Thinking to read Stolen Focus by Johann Hari.

Not sure if it's worth spending money for something that for me, probably boils down to "pull yourself together". I have read the kindle sample and one person he interviewed mentions obesity as linked. There's definitely a link with my weight and my increasingly poor habits.

My hairdresser is the only non family member to have visited my house in months! (We've got into the habit of seeing our friends out and about since DH has been working from home, we're not hermits!)
Her 6 weekly visit is excellent for focusing my mind on a bit of a tidy up!
I also requested that my window cleaner must call the night before he comes, and that gets me scurrying round picking up things too 🤣

I can be a bit the same!
I find if I've got my home/clutter under control, there's more room in my head for administration sort of stuff

@EmmaH2022 I think you're onto something there about obesity. My life was better on all fronts when I was participating in @SnowWhiteLobelia's thread last year. I'd dropped it off and lost control a bit, which is why are started again!

So pleased I have company!

Another fatty out of control here…

I’ve got a 6 hour power cut today as the electric people are doing “something” a mile down the road. Machines won’t work, but I imagine a duster still might…

Today’s big-little job will be to take down the double/wrong curtain brackets in my bedroom and refit them to the front door so I can hang the thermal curtain. Power drill is charged.

Will also need to put boiling water in a thermos because I’m not doing my day without coffee!

SnowWhiteLobelia · 17/03/2022 07:21

Morning! Hope your day without electricity goes really well @EdgeOfSeventeenAndThreeQuarter :)

I am taking an IkEA bag into our dining room which has been a dumping ground of random stuff and loading it up with everything that ought not to be in the dining room. Then I am going to put the contents of the IKEA bag where they belong. After that I am going to put a vase on the dining room table with some daffodils.

Interesting that others link weight with all this

What was the Snow thread?

A 6 hour power cut, yikes!

I have a long list of boring chores...work tomorrow and Saturday so really should do the chores. Argh.

Shined the sink last night flylady style.
Or rather not, I stick to washing up liquid and warm water not the strange bleach mania shown in the original!
Anyway combined with actually putting everything away and the kitchen looked okay this morning. House reset is occurring.
Here's wishing you all energy with tasks today folks.

StillUp · 17/03/2022 09:47

Hi, can I join? I found the thread this morning and you all motivated me to sort the overflowing bedroom bin and a few random items that don’t belong there that were irritating me.

I follow flylady too so have routines for the basics (I’m on the lovely flylady thread), but we redecorated the whole house last year and hadn’t got everything organised again before we had major roof issues, then DC2 arrived. We are finally getting the affected rooms redecorated this week and I can work on getting my house back. I think one thing a day will help.

I have a friend coming for coffee shortly so need to run the hoover over downstairs and have a quick tidy round. My must do thing today is post some important paperwork, and if I can declutter one of the boxes in our bedroom that will be a bonus.

I have been to the supermarket, which I hate. Unsurprisingly. It wasn't on my list but that's because my list wasn't up to date!

Now I have to clear the bedroom chair and bedside table.

I’ve cleaned DS2s room, replaced a hard to reach lightbulb in his bathroom and moved a chair into his room from the study in the hope that he at least throws his clothes onto that rather than the floor and put a lamp on his desk to encourage him to use it rather than lounging on his bed to do homework

Had a very productive 90 mins in the kitchen, including cleaning the kettle and toaster.

Taking a break, then doing bedroom.

@EmmaH2022 the Snow thread I referred to was SnowWhiteLobelia's original project thread. I think in ran for 2 full threads. It was useful and friendly, like this one has turned out to be Smile

This thread is lovely , can I join in please . I’m actually not well at the moment so I’m delegating chores so this morning I have my WFH husband taking an hours break to dust all the ceiling fans in the bedrooms - it’s well overdue .
