Last year there was a lovely long running thread about doing one thing a day that you've been putting off, or just to enjoy the cumulative effect of one extra daily 'thing'.
I'd like to start again, if anyone would like to join me.

Today, I have pulled out a drawer of a little used bureau cabinet, got rid of what is junk, and wiped the drawer out and organised what's left a bit more neatly.

I have no particular plan but instead can walk into any room in the house and see at least 5 jobs need doing.

This is me. I am sitting working on my laptop in my kitchen (new extension) and looking around I can see:

DH tools need putting back in the shed rather than living in the corner of the kitchen where they've been for the past 2 months (admittedly because as soon as he puts them away he has to get them out again)

light fitting needs to go up in the cloakroom

three parcels need returning to amazon

chopping board needs re-oiling

I need to clear out the baked goods drawer and take scraps to the chickens (this is supposed to be DS2's weekend job)

cushions need making for the bench seating

light switches need filler around the edges

bulb needs changing in the light high up in the skylight which requires a complicated ladder set up

need to order my backsplash which Ive been putting off because Im worried about getting the measurement wrong

I need to re- hook my curtains using french pleat hooks not normal pencil pleated hooks since they're not hanging properly.

And that's just one room!

Love the idea, would like to join please.
Unfortunately, not managed my one job of sewing badges to uniform today but have spent half the day unable to find sewing kit 🤦‍♀️ Found at last but now run out of time before activity. Must do it tomorrow.

Today I’ve picked, washed, chopped and frozen 10 enormous leeks from our vegetable garden. They have been looking at me for many weeks and threatening to bolt.

I always picture vegetables running away when I hear that phrase.

I have a ridiculous list written down, and more in my head but currently I'm trying to tackle obvious jobs that have a visual impact.
So things like wiping the doors down or washing the bath mat feature quite highly.

In the end I only made a list of garden jobs that I want to do rather than garden and house jobs. DH got involved by manfully wielding a saw and sawing random things. I did however collect some garden rubbish together and googled skip hires.

PierresPotato · 15/03/2022 19:28

I'm trying to stick to visual impact too.
Behind the scenes can wait a bit. I did declutter a few bags of clothes and books last month.

DH has moved DD’s clothes( in a clothes basket & 2 bags for life) which have been at the bottom of the stairs for weeks. He’s put the clothes from the basket in a storage box in DD’s room & I am going to take the bags to the charity shop. Next job is to move the rest of the stuff on the stairs.

Oh here you all are! I've been attempting to log on all day. Thought mumsnet was down.
It's all been happening here, well done, some great strides being made Smile
I am also a flylady fan, for the poster who mentioned it.
I think (for the person who asked) that it's worth developing daily routines, and the daily project is a thing that I've been putting off.
Sometimes I get overwhelmed with too much to do and then don't do anything.
Occasionally my task is ie find the equipment I need for task. Next day, actually use it.
I like things that have an obvious impact even if small: clean the toaster, or wipe down the fridge, or sweep the patio.
Eventually all these little projects add up, and make a real difference
Sorry, I've not replied to posters individually, just trying to answer some of the questions!

I thought my home smelt a bit stale today (2 elderly cats in residence) so hoovered lounge thoroughly, and bought some febreze and skirted cushions) and also wiped kitchen surfaces and mopped floor with pine disinfectant. Also bought method bathroom spray for shower, which you don't need to rinse. It smells gorgeous, so I feel a bit happier . Also opened every window in the house for the half hour it took to do those things.
Longish work day today so that's all I did (husband cooked tea and washed up, little darling) but I'm relaxing in a fresher house now

Today I have removed a whole load of old paperwork into the recycling box.

Job not entirely finished because there is still a small pile waiting to go into the filing cabinet. Should probably move it and the pile of to-be-shredded before H wants to use the room for his workout...

Bit of a late entry but have done lots of overtime today and updated the water and council tax with our move. Also confirmed payment terms with the moving company.

Yesterday I double checked all the completion statements. Also up to date on washing and putting clothes away.

House is filthy though and I need to book an oven clean tomorrow and arrange some play dates!

So off for a very late bedtime feeling relatively productive!

Pass impressed by overtime and chores in the same day!

Got to sleep at 2 and feeling a bit coldy. Not working today so should do a lot. In reality, I think I'm going to just do a maintenance tidy and sort two boxes in the bedroom. That sorting will take a lot of time tbh!

Morning! I am hoping to hang a picture in our downstairs loo. It's been sitting on the floor next to the door for about 2 weeks. Blush

Hello everyone! I have a two hour break and I'm proud to announce that instead of sitting on my backside reading MN, I've done a couple of small projects 😇
I have cleaned my hob and the tiles behind it, and I have cleared up the clutter that has crept in beside my bed (books, paper notebook, magazines, several pens and a box of tissues and various random items have been put back where they belong!)
And, I've put a wash on!

Go us!!!

Hi all!

Love reading what everyone is doing. And struggling to do. Makes me feel better!

Didn’t do much yesterday but today I’ve lodged a cheque into the bank, sorted some books for the charity shop and actually took them to the charity shop along with some crockery. And went to Tesco to get a security tag removed from a top I bought on Saturday. Also brought some more books downstairs from the landing - just bringing a few down each time I’m coming down made a big difference. A bit like this thread! Little bits add u and make a big difference.

I'm impressed. I have been....reading and MNing. I'm now going to do some exercise, then the chores I was going to do this morning.

Someone tell me off?

[waggles finger at @EmmaH2022 ] :)

Picture hung. Before Christmas we had a leak from the upstairs bathroom and the ceiling in the lower toilet collapsed. DH fixed it and replastered then painted it. Previously we had old and aging family photos in that room. Now we have replaced them with 3 Japanese-inspired floral prints that are surrounded by black frames (today!). I have also persuaded DH to get one of his (hoarded) old chandeliers from the loft and we will attach that to the currently bare bulb light fitting. i have also ordered a silver gilt framed mirror online. One simple job rapidly turned into 3 and counting but I think it will look amazing when it is done. :)

I got the Henry out and did all the corners the robot hoover misses.

Took the meter readings to work out how much we’ve used since last week to get a better idea of what mid-winter usage looks like.

I bought some filler and filled in some gaps where a new extractor fan had been fitted in our downstairs loo. Also wrote a slightly complicated letter about power of attorney that I’ve been putting off.
