Another daily project

Last year there was a lovely long running thread about doing one thing a day that you've been putting off, or just to enjoy the cumulative effect of one extra daily 'thing'.
I'd like to start again, if anyone would like to join me.

Today, I have pulled out a drawer of a little used bureau cabinet, got rid of what is junk, and wiped the drawer out and organised what's left a bit more neatly.

I had a day off today purely to catch up on housework and sorting paperwork. I work full time and I'm struggling with time management.

So today has been filled with loads of daily tasks.

petalpower · 14/03/2022 17:16

I’ve cleaned the remote controls which were filthy!

PierresPotato · 14/03/2022 17:19

I was following flylady scheme until a few weeks ago so my effort today will be the basic Monday quick cleaning of high traffic areas. I'm that out if practice it's become a special project.🤨
I have cleaned the hall table. Again really shouldn't be a special project but I am where I am!

Fatgalslim · 14/03/2022 17:28

Can I play?

Yesterday I reorganised the garage and got rid of all the stuff being kept because "we'll need it one day". 3 tip runs it took.

Today I re-potted 4 plants that I've been meaning to do for a year, I'm surprised they are still alive in all honesty.

EdgeOfSeventeenAndThreeQuarter · 14/03/2022 19:09

What a lovely friendly thread!

Late entry for the day - but I’ve just darned a hole in a cashmere jumper that’s been sat on the dining table for at least 2 months. Blush I’d love to be able to tell you it’s a fine work of invisible mending… but at least it’s a near thread colour match. And DONE!

Fernsinthegarden · 14/03/2022 19:15

@Fatgalslim nice work with the plants? Do you have any experience with orchids? I have two leafy twigs that are living in my bathroom that I’ve been promised will come back if I just leave them alone and don’t touch them! I’m twitching to trim the tops down, should I continue to ignore them?

merryhouse · 14/03/2022 19:34

Lol Edge that sounds like my mending!

(You can't see my elbow poking through, that's good enough)

Lio · 14/03/2022 20:07

So impressed with all these achievements! On Wednesday I put three pairs of mucky trainers through the washing machine and yesterday I finished the job by putting their laces back in.

hobbledyhoy · 14/03/2022 20:11

Nice thread and hoping it'll motivate me.

Yesterday I finally repotted some plants after thinking about it for 3 months.

Desperately need to declutter paperwork but haven't been able to face it yet. Maybe a drawer at a time will help

EmmaH2022 · 14/03/2022 20:15

May I please join?

Today I managed to mop the kitchen floor before going to work for a double shift. Normally I don’t get anything done before that.

AuntFlorence · 14/03/2022 21:02

I took out two bags of recycling, mostly shredded papers I didn't need anymore after yesterday's in road in doing my filing system.

I have got some bags for the Red Cross to do tomorrow (clothes donations). I don't have much money, but I do have a lot of old clothes so thought that was something and trust that the Red Cross will know better than me how to help in the Ukraine and wherever else help is needed.

I have a pile of books ready to sell or donate but haven't worked out where to yet. Making slow progress, but one task a day seem achievable so I'm well up for that

SnowWhiteLobelia · 15/03/2022 07:53

Morning!

We are Covid House right now so stuck at home. I plan to go around the house and garden making notes of projects that need to be done. (And those I wish to be done).

Peridot1 · 15/03/2022 08:54

Morning!

That’s a great idea @SnowWhiteLobelia. I’ve done that a few times. Not saying I’ve done everything on my lists but I’ve made them! Grin

I’m off shopping with my sister this morning but this afternoon am planning on sorting some books and taking old medicines to the pharmacy for disposal.

Breathmiller · 15/03/2022 09:14

Oh, I'll join. I found that thread useful.

I'll read back through everyone's suggestions for inspiration

bluesky45 · 15/03/2022 09:35

Ooh I'll join! Yesterday's job was cleaning the toaster, I do not do that nearly often enough! Not sure what today's job will be, it might be creating and sending an invoice so I can finally get paid! Keep putting it off for some daft reason, imposter syndrome I think!

RunningKatie · 15/03/2022 11:17

I have sorted my savings account, 2 years after they wrote to me. I blame covid!
And I've returned some trousers.
Next I am off to buy the Easter egg hunt buckets I saw last week. I still love them, the dc will love them and I suspect it's our last year of both believing Sad

pronxcessxo · 15/03/2022 11:21

i would love to join in as im afraid my house is a bit chaotic atm 😅 today im going to clean out the salad drawer in my fridge as it's gone a bit rogue in there! and possibly pull out the sofas and clean under them x

EdgeOfSeventeenAndThreeQuarter · 15/03/2022 13:20

I took the bottles to the bottle bank. Always have the urge to explain myself “haha not an alky first time since last summer”.

Put all the stuff I’ve got on Vinted into a dedicated bag and put the p&p stuff IN the bag so I don’t need to turn the house upside down when I sell something.

Nnique · 15/03/2022 13:27

We managed to finish the border yesterday after all, but it was a joint project with DH so I’m not sure it actually counts. Hmm

Today I think I will keep it very, very modest as I’m in some kind of funk that has lasted, well, weeks and weeks it feels like...so I need to make sure I don’t become overwhelmed: I’m going to put away a pile of clothes that’s been left on our ottoman in the bedroom for about a week now. I much prefer it when there’s no clutter in the bedroom so I’ll feel a lot happier once this chore is done.

shinynewapple22 · 15/03/2022 13:41

Can I mask how everyone is deciding what their one task is? Do you have a long list of things to be done at some time and then pick one per day? I am a big procrastinator.

Nnique · 15/03/2022 13:57

I usually have a long list of things that I vaguely want to get done. Once in a while I write it all out in my notebook so that I don’t have to carry it around in my head. If I’m in the zone I can power through loads of tasks at a time for a week or two at a time but then I’ll hit a wall and just need to leave things for a while otherwise I get overwhelmed. So there’s always something or other that would be nice to get done.

EmmaH2022 · 15/03/2022 15:10

I'm on another double shift and didn't do anything this morning. Might not do anything tonight but making a list for tomorrow - no work - and generally trying to devise a housework schedule around shift work.

I did try this on another thread but it was probably too boring to get a reply!

EmmaH2022 · 15/03/2022 15:11

I have a very long list!
EdgeOfSeventeenAndThreeQuarter · 15/03/2022 15:25

I have no particular plan but instead can walk into any room in the house and see at least 5 jobs need doing.

No good deed goes unpunished though and the other night I snipped off a loose thread at the top of a bobble hat.

The bobble fell off and the top of the hat unraveled. So now I need to see it all back together. Grin
