Last year there was a lovely long running thread about doing one thing a day that you've been putting off, or just to enjoy the cumulative effect of one extra daily 'thing'.
I'd like to start again, if anyone would like to join me.

Today, I have pulled out a drawer of a little used bureau cabinet, got rid of what is junk, and wiped the drawer out and organised what's left a bit more neatly.

Well done with the books @petalpower ! Someone will usually take them eventually! It's still very humid where I live too. So badly want a decent thunderstorm to clear the air!
I am so impressed at anyone who can sew or do diy. They both seem like artistic endeavours and my skills in that department are sadly lacking.
I got not much done today. Met an old friend for coffee and bumped into another one on the way. So that was nice. Finished my book. Must phone my mother.
Easy dinner tonight, early bed I think.
I may mop my kitchen floor so i can say I've done a thing!

My best friend's husband who is a sailor is famous for putting his entire boat through the dishwasher at the end of the season. he takes apart everything metal and whacks it in - including the anchor.

I hope you have a wonderful time with your con and DIL @Solosunrise !!

Solosunrise · 04/08/2022 20:12

That's really funny, @SummerLobelia!
And thank you 😊

Morning all and welcome to the weekend!
Spare room is sorted. Can't call it his room because I have had boomerang children over the last 10 years, so i think over the years we have all slept in all the rooms!
I have made it all lovely, and now I have to find places for what's been in there. Currently its stacked in the smaller bedroom (we have 3 but luckily 2 are doubles) I think I might wash the curtains and hang them in the sunshine today.
We never did get any rain, and apparently it's hotting up again next week.
Hope you all have nice weekend plans Flowers

I bought a winter skirt on ebay, I thought it has pockets but they were fake. I have managed to rip the seams open and add pockets.

SummerLobelia · 07/08/2022 06:42

Morning!

I hate the fake pocket thing. i wish I was skilled enough to add my own!

We will finish filling the skip today. Then tomorrow I will ring the skip people for collection and hopefully order another.

Sunday lunch out with the family today. yay!

I have been inspired by another thread about household organisation and have a sparkling kitchen. Feeling good today!

SummerLobelia · 07/08/2022 06:51

Oh and I bought a pressure washer (for the patio). It arrived yesterday- timed nicely to coincide with a local hosepipe ban. Hmm Grin

So washing the patio is a chore that has been kicked down the list.

SummerLobelia · 25/07/2022 12:58

Morning!

Today i bought tile cleaner which I will use on our victorian tiles. I also bought some black metallic paint as our outdoor setting needs a bit of titivating.

Lord I forgot I had bought these things! Might do this this week instead of the patio cleaning.

(This is so typical of me- start something and forget halfway through).

Solosunrise · 07/08/2022 07:14

Morning!
Am as impressed as ever at the ability to modify clothing @TheInebriati! One of my daughters does this all the time - started as a teenager- and I can only look on in awe! It's like I have two left hands!

Go you with the skip @SummerLobelia ! You're clearly a little further west than me as our hosepipe ban doesn't start till next week. I hope you have a lovely family lunch!

I'm all set for my boy to get here now - just a couple of days to go. Really looking forward to giving him a great big hug! Though he's nearly a foot taller than me! And longing to meet his fiancée. I love her already because he very clearly adores her, and she him from what I can tell.

My task today is a big blitz of the dining room. It really needs a fresh coat of paint but it's become a little cluttered since it's been doubling as an office. Probably an autumn job now!

Thank you @Solosunrise for the invite.

Today I have filled a bag for charity, thrown a bag of kids crap away and put the kitchen clock back up (I took it down weeks ago to replace the battery abd never got it back up!) Also put 4 things in the car to give to mum snd sister tomorrow. These things have been in my house for ages despite seeing them twice a week.

Solosunrise · 08/08/2022 05:57

Morning all! Well done @Bemyclementine ! I think we've all been there with things like putting the clock back up! (Say she, eyeing a clock that we've just got used to being 10mins fast because nobody has hot round to changing it!)
Today I'm going to sort the clock, and I imtend to wash a kitchen window.

OP posts:
Bemyclementine · 08/08/2022 07:56

Much of my clutter is an accumulation of very easy to solve stuff. Things not being put back/put away when they should.

My aim this week us to stop the house descending into chaos after yesterday's blitz.

Today I will drop the charity bag off somewhere, put away the clean laundry and sort out the paddling pool.

Boybandfacedfannyfart · 08/08/2022 08:35

Morning all. I’ve NC again but I’m a smug jobber. 😁

I think the bloody kids gave me covid again so I spent most of the weekend sleeping instead of jobs. Decided balancing on my step-ladder would’ve been folly given I could barely make it to the kitchen without lurching violently.

today i have to fire up the bastard work PC as it’s nose to the grind again after a blissful week off.

today because I still feel rough, the most I’ll manage is putting the washing on the indoor drier.

Boybandfacedfannyfart · 08/08/2022 08:38

@Solosunrise are you going to pick him up from the airport?

Thelnebriati · 08/08/2022 12:48

Another v. successful weekend decluttering on ebay <smug>
DS has bought a new phone and given me his old one, so I'm going to look into getting the screen replaced.

SummerLobelia · 08/08/2022 15:47

Afternoon all.

DH and I spent an hour skpping merrily. The skip is leaving us (sobs into a hankie) this week.

I plan to repaint our black patio table today when I finish work.

I am off work tomorrow as returning to GP for some test results so hope to finish the skip stuff first thing.

Bemyclementine · 08/08/2022 19:54

I have put away the clean laundry as planned and emptied the paddling pool. I've had a busy work day so didn't get to the charity shop. Tomorrow the DC can help me clean and either refill or put away the pool.

This morning I washed up breakfast stuff BEFORE LEAVING THE HOUSE and have just done the dinner stuff and put away the days crap (stuff dc took to my parents, water bottles, toys etc). Daily stuff that I dont do

Solosunrise · 08/08/2022 20:48

Bah to covid! Hurrah for name changes! We know who you are 🤣
I achieved one clean window and I did also go to work. Today work involved a lot of stairs so i haven't bothered to go for a sweaty walk. Such a rebel, me!
I took my own advice last two evenings, @Bemyclementine and have done my routines. I'm feeling quite smug (you'll notice a lot of smugness on this thread, but it's only because we are so delighted if we get a thing done! Because most of us aren't naturals!)
Have your achievements made you feel a bit better? I hope so 🙂
@Theinebriati go you!! Decluttering for money has never been my strong suit. I tell myself the empty spaces I have created, and the peace they create, are worth. But basically I get totally overwhelmed trying to sell things. Anyway, I'm impressed!
@SummerLobelia how was lunch? I wasn't sure if your 'yay' was sarcastic or not! Is DH feeling happier about skipping stuff? Good luck tomorrow!
Boy is coming on train from airport, unless there is another strike we don't know about yet... I'm on standby though.

Currently reading a book about self discipline, and hoping to make a few changes beyond a daily project. Mostly not scrolling MN before work every day, and doing something like journalling instead. And showering and dressing before coffee. I get up early and still scramble to get out of the house on time.

SummerLobelia · 08/08/2022 20:55

Oh no not sarcastic! It was a proper yay!

It was lovely. Just the family and a nice Sunday roast at the pub. very satisfying and I had a martini.

DH might be getting to grips with the skipping thing. In fact today I left him to supervise and direct while I approved his decision making. ;)

Thanks re tomorrow. Hopefully nothing much but I am an anxious sort.

I hope you have the most wonderful time with your boy and DIL. :)

Thanks

That sounds lovely! I have some family members who'd get a proper yay with an added 🥳 but there are extended family who are only politely tolerated, and they would get a flat yay, without as much as an exclamation mark. Glad it was the former!

What time do we need to be sending good vibes tomorrow?

Thank you re boy and his lady. We are all very excited!! He said they are too 🥳💜

Morning! What nice plans do you have with your boy and his lady @Solosunrise ? It will be so great to see them!

Thanks for the good vibes... about 3.30 would be very welcome. Smile I am looking forward to getting to the bottom of things hopefully. I've just been 'off' for too long.

In the meantime though I am looking forward to a morning of hard skip work or at least directing hard skip work. Grin I also need to defrost the fridge as the temperature setting got bumped at some point and the back has jars of jalapenos iced to it.

Bemyclementine · 09/08/2022 08:13

Today I'm going to fill another bag, snd take both to the charity shop. I live rurally so it's a "special" journey but I I'm honest I never go near a charity shop so might as well get it over.

I also really want to sort out the children's desks, they're full and picked on top so nit usable really.

Bordesleyhills · 09/08/2022 08:16

The fridge must be cleaned.... bin day on Thursday

Solosunrise · 09/08/2022 11:44

@SummerLobelia sending best wishes your way at 3.30! I hope you get to the bottom of whatever it is, and bounce back soon!
We will be doing some semi yay family dinners, a couple of yay 🥳 family/friend barbecues and some trips to beach/downs/tearooms for sure. They will also want to go off and do things on their own/with friends/ with sisters too, which is as it should be. They are on their way 🤩

Sounds like you're on it, @Bemyclementine ! It's a good feeling 😊

It still hasn't rained here. Must be a couple of months. I want to do some garden stuff but i struggle in the heat so it can wait till autumn.

How are you feeling @Boybandfacedfannyfart?

Reasonable chaos free here today, so I'm contemplating a dig around in my wardrobe to see if there's anything that needs attention in there.

My day started well and I didn't look at anything online till i got to my first call (ten mins early 😇 ) Very proud! And I hung a load of washing out before I left so I'm feeling really quite magnificent 😌
