Another daily project

Last year there was a lovely long running thread about doing one thing a day that you've been putting off, or just to enjoy the cumulative effect of one extra daily 'thing'.
I'd like to start again, if anyone would like to join me.

Today, I have pulled out a drawer of a little used bureau cabinet, got rid of what is junk, and wiped the drawer out and organised what's left a bit more neatly.

A slightly frustrating trip out this morning. The charity shop that I can park outside would only take the clothes but no books. The books are too heavy to carry to other charity shops that were close by so they’re still in the back of my car. Went to our lovely local independent appliance retailer but they only had a small freezer rather than the tall type I wanted for the garage to replace the one that’s dying. They could get one that was more than I wanted to pay. Now waiting for them to call back about supplying a cheaper one so not really a job that I can tick off my completed list.

SummerLobelia · 28/07/2022 12:19

I love MN also @Solosunrise

If it were not for MN I may not have realised one ought to wash one's skirting boards. (Still not done it yet). It has been an amazing resource for me from everything to providing support and advice with dealing with my ASD tweenie; to providing massive inspiration for days out in London (the Horrible Histories Thames tour is still an absolute highlight); to helping me identify a strange allergy my DS developed that i could go and speak confidently about to his usually indifferent allergist; to just providing resources and discussion that has served to further inform my feminism.

The daily project thread has really transformed my home and sense of well being. Sometimes I forget how much I have achieved and then have to run an inventory through my mind. Then i can really look back and see how the little changes have added up to something really significant.

Plus I love the general chats.

Can highly recommend a rose arch. Grin.

SummerLobelia · 28/07/2022 12:20

Oh and today I have dumped a charity shop bag (ours also refuse to take books which is an irritation) and reported an abandoned vehicle on our road that has been there since the start of the year.

Now I am off to merrily skip stuff.

Peridot1 · 28/07/2022 14:19

So glad that people get me on why I’m irritated! He even hung it out. Badly. But I didn’t say anything. I managed to get to the machine while he was hanging it out to put in what I’d wanted to wash. On the correct cycle. I did say he had used the wrong cycle and he got a bit annoyed. He’s not too bad generally. Does most of the cooking. And clears up after himself.

I’ve been out shopping so have come back in a better frame of mind!

Hurrah for the skip @SummerLobelia! That definitely deserves prosecco! Happy filling it!

im planning an afternoon of ironing.

Aria999 · 28/07/2022 14:59

Lol I do all the laundry in our house but I did once grow mould on the sheets by leaving them in the washer for a few days by mistake so I think if DH did destroy something I couldn't really complain...

Solosunrise · 28/07/2022 15:51

I too cock things up frequently and so cannot grumble 😅
I try to keep irritated to myself but sometimes it's there alright!
Solidarity, sisters!

And @SummerLobelia yes I appreciate MN for many of the same reasons Flowers

Our washing machine broke down with a full load once and it was several days before it could be repaired. I managed to salvage everything by doing two hot washes, the first with bicarbonate of soda to kill the mould.

SummerLobelia · 28/07/2022 18:45

Well a flaw in my cunning (skip) plan.

I have spent some time putting things into the skip.

DH has spent some time taking them out again and telling me they will be useful someday.

I confess i did not see this coming.

We have had words.

(If anyone objective can tell me what a broken clothes horse and a bunch of broken plastic pots plus a feather pillow that was pissed on by cats might be useful for I would be most grateful).

Solosunrise · 28/07/2022 18:53

I used to be married to one of those. I'm tempted to say pop him in the skip and go and drink more prosecco, but i fear that would be unkind.
Solidarity once again!
I can only come up with suggesting that you come up with a plan to sell the advantages of having some extra space.
Otherwise nowt. I traded mine in Blush

SummerLobelia · 28/07/2022 18:55

We argued and he has brought me flowers.

Honestly.

18 years married.

Sometimes I want to brain him with a brick. (I think we have plenty of those as well..... )

Solosunrise · 28/07/2022 18:58

I hear you! I imagine he has his good points. I hope the flowers indicated that he has reflected on the wisdom of putting those stinky broken things back in the skip Flowers

I have told him that I love and appreciate him but he has to FUCKING LET THINGS GO.

I am now off for another glass of prosecco and then i am going for a bath.

I adore DH. But fuck me he is frustrating.

Solosunrise · 28/07/2022 19:09

Wise move! Wine and a bubbly bath can cure most ills 😃

OP posts:
Peridot1 · 28/07/2022 20:31

Oh that is frustrating @SummerLobelia. But I suppose was to be expected in a way.

There must be something in the air. We had an argument tonight. Not about the washing! Politics. We cannot talk politics. We always row. He stormed off so I sat in the garden and finished my wine and have come to bed with an ice cream. And my kindle.

Tomorrow is another day!

Aria999 · 28/07/2022 23:02

Oh @SummerLobelia that sucks. Did he know it was a cat piss pillow? Sounds like he has some issues!

SummerLobelia · 29/07/2022 05:12

Yes he does have issues. He gets a bit panicky about change. However his strengths are he is incredibly loyal and loving and (usually) he listens to me. He is also desperately kind.

Bit of a shame he is now under the patio then.

Right. So today I will go at a slightly slower pace and will check with him first about what i throw.

@Peridot1 I hope your row is over too. Thanks

Solosunrise · 29/07/2022 05:59

Big group hug 🫂 I hope today is a better day @Peridot1 Flowers Humans are complex beasts aren't they? I'd dig him back up @SummerLobelia - he sounds a jolly decent sort in the main.
I've come over all energetic since it's cooled down a bit. I'm about to write a to do list as i have a million ideas swirling about in my head. Fortunately not working this morning.
One definite plan is to drop some bits to the dump, and i have some work equipment in my car that needs properly storing somewhere in the house.
I may even make it to the garden centre to look at rose arches for next year.

Feeling the need to mind map (have a great book about this!)

I've had too much coffee - woke early and had two already Blush

I hope you all have a lovely day!

fudfootedfannybangle · 29/07/2022 06:37

Sorry, is it the cat or the husband who’s under the patio now?

I’ve learned so much from mn - especially around women’s rights and acceptable boundaries in relationships.

still ain’t dusting my skirting boards weekly though… 😁

my productivity has slowed this week as I’ve had other stuff going on, and now the kids are coming home early as they’re fed up with dad. I’ve told the youngest it’s a blessing because I’m never going to be able to squeeze behind the loo to paint back there and this is why child labour is so underrated.

fudfootedfannybangle · 29/07/2022 06:38

I need to take secateurs to my rose bush as it’s acting like a triffid and trying to block the gate. Perhaps it needs training over an arch.

Peridot1 · 29/07/2022 08:53

All restored here this morning. Usually is to be fair.

There was a deer in the garden last night and he took some photos to show me this morning. Bloody sod ate some of my newly planted flowers during the week!

I managed to get to the washing machine first this morning so have a safe wash on.

Didn’t do the ironing yesterday so that may have to be tomorrow. No time today I don’t think. Although may manage some. Off out this morning for leg and bikini wax. Neighbours over for dinner tonight so house tidying and cooking to do.

have a good day all.

RunningKatie · 29/07/2022 10:21

I am not envious of leg waxing!
I'm on a webinar, it should be interesting but I'm writing a list of what I need to do work-wise by next Friday and panicking a bit!
Today I need to go up in the loft, dh is also clearing random piles of wood from the side of the house, it looks like an absolute dump currently.

petalpower · 29/07/2022 21:53

Today I spoke to the local appliance retailer. They can’t get hold of the new freezer I want so I’ll have to get one online. I’ve also ironed and photographed the skirts that I want to put on eBay. Just need to list them now. Suspect I won’t get that much. Anyone want a bundle of lovely Boden skirts?!

Thelnebriati · 29/07/2022 22:07

If they'll fit a fattie I might have a bid Grin

petalpower · 29/07/2022 22:29

Size 14 @TheInebriati?

Thelnebriati · 29/07/2022 22:31

I might be able to get one leg in.
