No wonder the Russians are running out of food rations if he's along for the ride...

Small tangent of a question please - what’s with people typing UA in emoji letters 🔠 (can’t find them to post). Obviously I know UA is Ukraine - but what is using those emojis supposed to convey?

notimagain · 28/02/2022 22:23

Got it now….flight radar showing no registration so hard to do any detective work, could well be legit.

It is not impossible that some of the reports of racism among treatments of refugees could be being created by Russia. Some undoubtedly will not. I could go on about how the current resentment of racism may be larger than racism actually is, and ask where is the reciprocal aid for European refugees from India and the Middle East, but that would be a huge argument in itself.

The website below has a number of articles some of which talk about long-term Russian misinformation and fanning of resentment against the West in the Balkans and East Europe.

I’m linking this particular article for this quote: “It’s important to understand that Moscow’s demands of the United States and NATO are in fact the strategic goals of Russian policy in Europe. Their aim is not to restore the Soviet Union, as some suggest. Rather, the idea is to reframe security in Europe—particularly in Europe’s east—as a contractual relationship between the two principal strategic actors in the region, Russia and the United States/NATO, thus turning the page on an era when it was the business of the United States alone. This is regarded as a vital national security interest. If Russia cannot achieve its goal by diplomatic means, it will need to resort to other tools and methods.”

I wonder too if Europe wants to join in this reframing of power players!

He has a YouTube channel pumping out the sort of stuff that will no doubt be being broadcast in Russia to pull heartstrings. There are frightened ethnic Russians in the border areas the poor and defenceless of every country suffer in wars. All so very sad.

Ncwinc · 28/02/2022 22:26

In 2014 Russian missiles fired from Eastern Ukraine shot down a passenger plane.

Your post sums it up for me

Justanotherlurker · 28/02/2022 22:26

I can find a link to the analysis I’ll post it down thread but the conclusion was that if the Russians got their act together with tactics and organization, and also decided to be less restrained with their artillery and similar munitions then there is still scope for things to get much much grimmer than they are now very quickly

There is some analysis that Russia hasn't put there latest tech out there yet as most footage has been of dated equipment, a few Tos-1 has been spotted on the streets but they still have a lot on the border.

They obviously wanted a quick run and grab of Kyiv and hope the gov just fled overnight but a lot are saying this could just be a weakening exercise and the limited new tech will arrive soon

BronwenFrideswide · 28/02/2022 22:26

I think it's supposed to be the Ukraine flag Cocomarine but it doesn't translate/show on certain platforms?

Emmelina · 28/02/2022 22:27

Anyone know what this is all about? No info other than it’s American. Interesting flight pattern!

I think they are posting an Ukranian flag emoji. If your device doesn't recognise it, it automatically changes it to UA

Ah! That makes sense - thank you!

Back to our mystery Gulfstream.

According to one of the less used tracker sites, it’s American registered, N888DQ, and it is associated in some way to “Bank of Utah Trustee”…

(TBF they may have hired it to someone and it is not on bank business but ???)

I just read (it was an American news source, WP maybe? Lost the link now) speculation that they have used all of the crappy equipment for the first wave, so it doesn't matter if it gets blown up by local resistance. They may then save their bigger fancy weapons for some "later" unspecified time. I can't think why, but it seems plausible at least
Ncwinc · 28/02/2022 22:31

It’s the Mormons!

RedToothBrush · 28/02/2022 22:31

Alec Luhn @ASLuhn
Bulgaria will give Ukraine 14 Su-25 & 16 MiG-29 fighter jets, Poland will give it 28 MiG-29s & Slovakia will give it 12 MiG-29s. More importantlygiven Russian missile strikes on military airbasesthey can fly missions over Ukraine from Poland

Seeing this reported by several sources now.

Not going to spell out how this is significant...

BeyondPurpleTulips · 28/02/2022 22:32

Test: 🇺🇦 - this should be a flag
