Outright lying has long been the name of the game for Putin's Russia. Remember the Skripal prisoners claiming they just wanted to visit the beautiful cathedral in Salisbury? They don't need people to believe the lies, they just need to sowndoubt and confusion and the false idea that there are two sides to the story.

Russia won't accept that so round and round we go. Russia does not want any western influence in Ukraine it wants it in the "sphere" of Moscow.

Surely invading Ukraine has made it much more likely that the country will look West. A policy of positive engagement and financial support of Ukraine from Moscow would be more likely to have them look East.

There’s a Twitter account following private jets owned by oligarchs, worth checking out to see where they’re all fleeing to!

Zelensky has signed an official request to join the European Union.

That’s not neutrality though is it? That request will stop the peace talks. I wondered if the ‘denazification of the Ukrainian state’ was, bizarrely, directed at Zelensky ie he has to go. What else can he mean? Putin will want a Russian puppet like Lukashenko in order to full the threat is removed. How on earth will Zelensky survive with all those mercenaries looking for him.

I think Russia and Belarus are putting a more positive spin on talks and saying there will be a second round, whereas Ukraine is a bit more cautious.

Both sides basically saying they shared the key points to be discussed and now everyone will go home for consultations and then we'll see what the next steps are.
