Dunno about anybody else, but food is my comfort zone, my happy place. So bugger off doom and gloom, tonight we have homemade beef curry and basmati rice, and a Yealands 2021 Reserve Sauvignon Blanc. The Sav' Blanc is for me.

What curry recipe do you use? I rarely make beef curry but really like it.

Dembones292 · 24/02/2022 16:47

Roast chicken with courgette risotto.

MonkeyPuddle · 24/02/2022 16:48

I took the kids out earlier and took picnic, as usual I made too much so the kids are having the leftovers, DP is having soup and a sarnie and I’m going to work.

I was down for this thread and then remembered I have to go on a date and I’d forgotten to plan my tea beforehand arghggg. So probably a mini pizza whilst I rush to get ready after work. Yours sounds delicious and I would like some!!

Phormiumjester · 24/02/2022 16:48

Sounds lovely.
We're on steak, mushroom sauce and Aldi Skin on Fries! The kids are having chicken instead of steak as I can't get them to like it. Broccoli and peas.

Husband bringing home a red. Probably a Malbec. that's on offer in Tesco

A580Hojas · 24/02/2022 16:48

I'm home alone tonight, so I'm having a King prawn makhani ready meal and a vegetable samosa, probably followed by a tangerine. There's a nice Bordeaux rose open in the fridge so no doubt a glass or two of that to accompany!

DataColour · 24/02/2022 16:50

Homemade dhal curry and saag paneer with rice. One of the kids favourites.
When I make beef curry I use the following recipe and it's really good.

SparkleSky · 24/02/2022 16:51

We're having veggie curry with naan bread then strawberries and chocolate brownie from m&s for pudding Smile. I'm going to tidy up the DC toys in the living room, put the lamps on to make it cosy then open a bottle of wine tonight with DH Wine

Waxonwaxoff0 · 24/02/2022 16:51

We're on holiday and eating at an Italian restaurant tonight. Will be indulging in cocktails.

withiceplease · 24/02/2022 16:52

What a good idea!
I've got DH his favourite- lots of lamb chops! Honestly all the cooking I do, and he likes these best 😂. When about 10, given money by his mum to buy himself dinner (she was a sahm usually) he went to village butcher and asked for as many lamb chops he could buy for his money.
So those, creamed leeks, mashed potatoes, broccoli and gravy with mint sauce 😊

emmathedilemma · 24/02/2022 16:54

Pizza and probably wine

theseriousmoonlight · 24/02/2022 16:54

@DataColour thanks for that link - I'll be trying that out.

We went to Macdonalds for lunch as we were out with the kids. They'll have sandwiches for tea soon and DP will have the tiktok salmon rice thing after their bedtime.

FrenchyQ · 24/02/2022 16:55

Sausage , chips and beans (normal sausages for husband and son, veggie ones for me).

AmbushedByCake · 24/02/2022 16:55

Not sure whether to do chicken and mushroom ramen or eggs beans and mushrooms with toast.

@TerrifiedandWorried

What curry recipe do you use? I rarely make beef curry but really like it.
It's out of an NZ Food Magazine.

Hang about:

90g butter
2 medium onions, finely chopped
4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1 thumb fresh ginger, grated
3 tablespoons of curry powder
1 teaspoon each - black mustard seeds, salt
1 tablespoon white vinegar
1.5 kg rump steak, cut into 2.5cm cubes
1 teaspoon chili paste
400g tin tomatoes

Heat the butter in a heavy based saucepan over a gentle heat and cook the onion, garlic, and ginger until soft and golden. Add the curry powder and mustard seeds and cook for a further 3-4 minutes. Add the salt and vinegar and stir well.

Increase the heat slightly and add the meat, tossing it to coat well. Add the chilli paste and tomatoes, and bring to the boil, then lower heat to a simmer. Cover the pan and cook for about an hour, stirring occasionally until the meat is tender. If you have too much juice at the end of cooking, remove the lid from the pan and cook on a high heat until the juice has reduced.

Serves 4-6.

Your DH sounds like a man after our own hearts! We had marinaded lamb racks last night - oh lord, they were delicious. On the down side, the cat redecorated the stairs in the bones. . . whoops.

Pizza from the freezer here as it’s an activity night so not too much time.
Seems a curry Thursday is a theme here though and so now I fancy a curry!

EatSleepRantRepeat · 24/02/2022 16:58

Freezer fish, chips, and peas, with some lovely tartare sauce we buy from Lidl. Only about 45p but it's as good as the chip shop ones.

CrimeaChimera · 24/02/2022 16:58

what an excellent idea!

We are having roast ham with maple glaze, roast potatos, honey carrots, cauliflower and broccoli and then a tinned peaches meringue nest with clotted cream. I am considering making my own yorkshire puddings, but have never done it before so might skip it.

DS1 is having raw veg on the side instead of roasties (sensory issues). DS2 bless him will eat everything.

SiobhanSharpe · 24/02/2022 16:58

Spicy baked chicken wings (marinated in yoghurt, chutney and curry paste)
Stir fried cabbage with peppers and tomatoes.
Channa masala.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 24/02/2022 16:58

Peanut and Hoisin Chicken with noodles and beansprouts

Bookaholic73 · 24/02/2022 16:59

Sausage pasta bake tonight. With lots of cheese.
I’d like chocolate and wine as pudding too.

CrimeaChimera · 24/02/2022 17:00

Oh, and in between posting on war threads and watching the news (a poorly scheduled annual leave day here) I have been looking into organic veg boxes and signed up for the subscription service at our local butcher. Lamb racks will be a part of it next week and I am very excited!

MintyGreenDream · 24/02/2022 17:00

Out for tea tonight so it's pub grub

Thatsplentyjack · 24/02/2022 17:00

I'm on a "diet". Just cutting out the crap really but I've just had cajun chicken breast with roasted carrots, parsnips and red onion. It was delicious.
One child has decided they are having sausage pasta, another is determined he's having the chicken dippers in the freezer and the baby just spits most food out. No idea what dp will have, he's still at work.
