Dunno about anybody else, but food is my comfort zone, my happy place. So bugger off doom and gloom, tonight we have homemade beef curry and basmati rice, and a Yealands 2021 Reserve Sauvignon Blanc. The Sav' Blanc is for me.

A big bowl of salad with vinaigrette dressing for later to compensate for eating it!

Lacedwithgrace · 02/03/2022 15:02

Homemade chinese takeout tonight.

Chicken chow mein
Cantonese style chicken (sweet and sour sauce on crispy chicken)
Black bean chicken
Prawn toast
Egg fried rice

longwayoff · 02/03/2022 16:38

Half a pack of M&S porcini and truffle ravioli with butter, parmesan and taleggio. Yum. Looking at it written down, I should probably find some greens to add to it.🥬

I'm actually going to make a proper dinner for once and make the BOSH boys' red wine ratatouille vegan risotto. It's delicious and we have slatherings of parmesan all over it (we're veggie not vegan). It tastes just as good cold the next day. And of course a glass of red to accompany it Smile

Vampirethriller · 02/03/2022 16:57

Today is instant mash, tinned tomatoes and cheese. Cannot be bothered with anything requiring effort.

Cherrysoup · 02/03/2022 18:29

Lidl tomato and mozzarella gnocchi with their tomato/pepper tomato sauce, chicken breast mixed in. Omg, to die for!

badlydrawnbear · 02/03/2022 18:50

Pasta with tinned tomato and olive sauce, dough balls
I had a left-over (left because all the garlic butter was finished) dough ball with chocolate spread afterwards.

A580Hojas · 02/03/2022 20:12

Tray bake - chicken thighs, potatoes, garlic, mixed Med veg (from a M&S pack tonight as I'm not well), cherry tomatoes, olive oil, s+p, oregano, slices of chorizo. All roasted together at different stages in a large roasting tin.

Plantsandpuddlesuits · 05/03/2022 17:48

Really cosy shepherds pie here with cavolo Nero and sprouts. It's nearly ready can't wait!

mbosnz · 05/03/2022 18:28

Ooooh, I've been having a craving for Shepherd's Pie - I've put that in the meal plan for Tuesday.

Tonight is DD2's favourite (well, one of 'em), Cantonese sweet and sour pork on rice.

Chicken bento sort of thing with rice, veggies etc

MotherofPearl · 06/03/2022 19:00

Beef stroganoff, rice and greens. Caramel sticky toffee pudding afterwards.

confusedofengland · 06/03/2022 19:25

Tonight we had roast chicken (ready roasted from supermarket), roast potatoes, gratin dauphinoise (ready done from supermarket), roast carrot & parsnip, broccoli & cauliflower cheese and mange tout.

All was from the yellow label section at Tesco on Friday night. Whole meal cost approx £3.50 for 5 of us (2 adults, DSes aged 13, 10, 8). I wouldn't usually buy ready made bits but couldn't resist!

For pudding the DC are having the last of DS3's Maltesers birthday cake. I can't manage any!

When life gets busy and hectic, finding time to prepare meals can be a challenge. This is where the humble cucumber sandwich can come to the rescue. Not only is it quick and easy to prepare, but it's also a light and refreshing option that can help you power through your day.

Cucumber sandwiches are perfect for those times when you don't have the time or energy to cook a full meal. All you need is a few slices of bread, a fresh cucumber, and some butter or cream cheese. Simply spread the butter or cream cheese on the bread, add the cucumber slices, and voila - you have a tasty and nutritious meal that can be enjoyed in minutes.

Not only are cucumber sandwiches quick and easy to make, but they are also a healthy option. Cucumbers are low in calories and high in water content, making them a great way to stay hydrated and satisfied throughout the day. They are also packed with vitamins and minerals, such as vitamin C and potassium, which can help keep your body healthy and energized.

So the next time you find yourself short on time and in need of a quick meal, don't underestimate the power of the cucumber sandwich. It may be a simple and unassuming option, but it can be a true lifeline when you need it most.

Crispy prawn tacos here this evening. A gousto recipe, though not ordered through them this time, recreated with the recipe card.

I haven't been able to get a cucumber from our local supermarket for at least 3 weeks. I really want a cucumber sandwich now!!!!

DS is making chilli tonight, hopefully milder than the curry that DH did last night which made me cry.

I love this and will do it but in my head, a little voice said rapidly at the end of your post “Paid for by the Cucumber Marketing Board”

Xiaoxiong · 16/03/2023 13:29

@LemonJuiceFromConcentrate my first thought was "ChatGPT has found Mumsnet" 😂

I am going to serve up cucumber sandwiches and as I put them on the table I'm going to trill "A true lifeline when we need it most"!

RethinkingLife · 16/03/2023 15:23

Mackerel and a smidge of pickled rhubarb with roast cauliflower and broccoli.

I would have pickled cucumber if I could find any to pickle.
