Dunno about anybody else, but food is my comfort zone, my happy place. So bugger off doom and gloom, tonight we have homemade beef curry and basmati rice, and a Yealands 2021 Reserve Sauvignon Blanc. The Sav' Blanc is for me.

We’ve got spag Bol cooked slowly with red wine and homemade garlic flatbreads. I’ve been feeling so anxious all day and cooking (and eating!) soothes me

Lordamighty · 24/02/2022 17:27

Ragu bolognese with homemade red onion & green olive focaccia.

MinnieMountain · 24/02/2022 17:27

I’m having a M&S Chinese takeaway for one.

DH will have something from the freezer once he’s back from hockey practice.

DS is eating at MIL’s.

Very nice, We are having a Pizza hut delivery as we are celebrating, my 16 yr old son has been homeschooled last 3 years, due to MH, he sat IGCSE' s in Nov and today we got his results. A* on all subjects bar one which he got A. So whatever is going on in rest of the world will have to wait, because l am having a drink and a dance and some lovely pizza.
Congratulations to your DS! That is amazing - and yes, the rest of the world can be put on the 'busy' signal, and you dance, and drink, and celebrate. That's what matters.

That and food. Oh, and wine.

I made a new recipe from TikTok yesterday and it was so delicious I’m going to make it again.
Basically stir fried any leftover old veg, 2tbsp of soy sauce and peanut butter, 1 tbsp honey & sweet chilli sauce. Add a bit of water and pre cooked noodles. It was so good and cheap!

Repetitivebeats · 24/02/2022 17:30

I'm making DP and me roast cauliflower with harissa and goats cheese from the Green Roasting Tin book. I've not made this before but all the other recipes from that book have been banging so I'm looking forward to it.

Teen DS has a friend round for a sleepover, so have got them some pizzas and sides.

Bloodyshittystorms · 24/02/2022 17:31

I've ordered pizza, if ww3 is starting I'm not dieting !

BitOutOfPractice · 24/02/2022 17:32

@mumpower3

I made my 3dc sausages and home made mash with gravy and heart shaped Yorkshires Grin then i put the mash into a "volcano" shape and the gravy spills out haha!
Oh that's made me smile. My lovely mom used to make mince and tatties for us a kid with the potato in a volcano, with mince lava and peas as the sea around it. Such a lovely childhood memory. Your kids will love it!

I'm making orecchiette with broccoli, chilli, garlic and anchovy sauce. I'm contemplating half a slab of Lindt hazelnut afterwards...

DementedPanda · 24/02/2022 17:33

Cottage pie and green veg.. probably broccoli and green beans.

BigSandyBalls2015 · 24/02/2022 17:34

I can’t decide between pasta with a spicy chorizo/tomato sauce or gnocchi baked in the oven served with a mushroom and Stilton sauce

Leftbutcameback · 24/02/2022 17:34

Hash brown waffles (marvellous invention), fried egg, veggie sausages. Comfort food

BigSandyBalls2015 · 24/02/2022 17:34

Oh and white wine

Grantanow · 24/02/2022 17:35

We are having fried venison liver (yummy) with broccoli and steamed small potatoes washed down with a bottle of 2016 Gigondas from The Wine Society.

BigSandyBalls2015 · 24/02/2022 17:35

Hash brown waffles … I never knew this was a thing!

DontWiltMySpinachPlease · 24/02/2022 17:47

Lightly dusted fish, roast potatoes and roast veg. YUM

howdidigettobe50something · 24/02/2022 17:50

Comfort food tonight... lovely sausages from the butcher, mash, roasted carrots, broccoli and gravy 🙂

iklboo · 24/02/2022 17:50

Curry - I used a jar as it was getting near its best before date.

Pressure cooker a whole chicken & took all the meat off the carcass, browned the meat a little in the pan, then chucked it in the sauce to heat through. It was really tasty.

ApolloandDaphne · 24/02/2022 17:51

M&S fish pie, sprouts and carrots, washed down with a shedload of sauvignon blanc and bleak TV.

mbosnz · 24/02/2022 17:59

The shed of sav' blanc always helps numb the bleak tv. . . I must get in vital supplies!

I did ribs in the slow cooker in ketchup, five spice, sugar, a stock cube and sesame seeds. They've been on for five hours, and I've just popped them in the oven to crisp them up for kids tea- they've loved them im really pleased and looking forwards to ours later!
