South Wales. Just a lot of wind, nothing too bad so far. Sky relatively clear. I'm going out this morning then wfh in the p.m. so hopefully won't see too much of it. I live in an area known to have its own 'microclimate' though being on the sea shore we normally get worse winds than anywhere else. I need to check the buildings and the outside structure we have for the cats, but cant see anything wrong except blown rubbish so far.

MistressoftheDarkSide · 18/02/2022 07:28

Bournemouth here....woke up about half an hour ago very uncharacteristically and it's a bit windy..... cat is very agitated but so far, touch wood, doesn't seem too bad. Mind you we've been upgraded to red overnight from 10.00am so who knows. I was a teenager for the grand storm of 1987, be interesting to see if it gets to that level.

dubyalass · 18/02/2022 07:28

West Cornwall here. Can hear my roof creaking and I'm in a sheltered bit where it's mostly going overhead! Very strong gusts and can feel the house vibrating Confused It is a bit scary. Don't envy anyone on the north coast. Still got electricity at the moment.

Hampshire/Surrey borders - wet and windy.

Have a hair appointment at 1 but assuming it will now be cancelled as we are in a red warning.

Local primary school has some children away on a trip due back this afternoon. That will be a worry for parents.

We are lucky we don’t need to go out at all.

I am worried about the huge trees in our neighbouring garden although DH tells me the wind is blowing in the right direction for us. So now I’m worried about the elderly lady next door. She’s vulnerable anyway and generally doesn’t answer her door or phone.

itsgettingweird · 18/02/2022 07:30

Hampshire coast here.

Woke at 4am and it was silent. No sound of animals about as you'd usually here.

Woke at 6.30am for work to an email saying all schools been shut by council.

Then discover we are a red zone now!

Windy but nothing horrific yet. But then my street is quite sheltered so what's happening 3 miles down the road at the coast is another matter.

PeonyRose80 · 18/02/2022 07:30

Winchester area, now a red alert from 10am so Hampshire schools all been closed. Quite windy but nothing more so far…

Theredjellybean · 18/02/2022 07:31

South West Coast. Windy but nothing unusual

windy321 · 18/02/2022 07:33

Glasgow area here - lots of snow but no wind

X posts.

I'm about 20miles down the M3/27 from you in the south!

South Wales Valleys, 7.30am. Wind has picked up considerably in the last twenty minutes. Extremely gusty.

GeneLovesJezebel · 18/02/2022 07:35

@GeneLovesJezebel

North West - nothing here yet. Trees are still.
Just had a big squall pass through, trees still again and I can see blue sky.
notanothertakeaway · 18/02/2022 07:42

South west Scotland. Frost on the ground, but not windy

dottydodah · 18/02/2022 07:42

SC here(about 3 miles inland) just breezy and dry ATM.Got to go shopping today .Will be keeping away from the coastline though!

PutYourBackIntoit · 18/02/2022 07:43

Blue skies here in Gloucestershire by the Severn.

Am pissed off because a much longed for weekend break for me and my eldest daughter has been cancelled for this, and I have to wfh with 3 kids today. Sad

Northernsoullover · 18/02/2022 07:43

South East Wales. Its gone very quiet. Nothing like expected at the moment. I read that the arrival time has been pushed back by two hours. Can nothing run on time in this country? 🙄😂

Akite · 18/02/2022 07:45

I'm in Somerset and it's very calm here. According to that Windy site, the worst is due between 10 and 12, I hope the calm start to the day doesn't encourage people to go out and about thinking it's missed us. It wasn't ever due to be overnight was it? The red warning here is from 7am to 12 noon

SunshineCake1 · 18/02/2022 07:46

Kent

Very wet and windy. Bit scared.

Kids in Bristol and London so worried about them too.

MillyMollyMandyMaybe · 18/02/2022 07:46

Cotswold side of Gloucestershire here, rather than the Severn Vale, and although we’ve only just got up, it’s hardly noticeable here yet.

I wonder, given the south coast and London are now red, if it’s actually tracking across the country a bit further south than they modelled yesterday? We were due very high winds by now, with the worst from about 8 or 9 until about 12.

TheNoodlesIncident · 18/02/2022 07:51

According to Met Office's Friday morning video, it's set to hit our area and Liverpool around 11-12. We have an errand to run in Liverpool today so will go as soon as we've dropped our dc in school, so we can be back before it gets really bad.

It's very quiet at the moment. Storm Dudley didn't affect us much, it was a little windier than usual but nothing to mention. We won't dodge Eunice though...

MistressoftheDarkSide · 18/02/2022 07:55

Local rag has a live feed going and says the worst will be between 9 and 2....usually as soon as we get iffy weather our internet starts dropping in and out but touch wood it's fine at the moment......

Crunchymum · 18/02/2022 07:55

Central London borough.

Not out of bed yet but was woken by the wind about an hour ago. It's not constant but it sounds pretty strong. We have an old house with sash windows so it's making a racket.

It's half term but we'd planned today as a "home" day anyway as I have a furniture delivery coming. Also have food shopping scheduled and a courier coming to collect some returns (all booked a while ago as its the one day we'd be at home).

Not sure what will happen? I don't expect anyone to deliver if its unsafe.

Kids still asleep, cat seems a bit perturbed and is tucked up by my feet.

poshme · 18/02/2022 07:56

@WingBingo thank you for that link that's amazing!

undermilkjug · 18/02/2022 07:57

Oxford here. Very heavy rain and strong gusts. I have to go into work and walking to the bus stop was like walking into a wall for a little while. Supposed to get bad between 10 and 3.

allmysons · 18/02/2022 08:00

South Glos here, no different to normal here at the moment but all the schools are shut. I thought the worst was going to be 7-12 but all fine. Sounds like it will come a bit later.

DH is at our holiday let on south Cornwall coast and the sea is coming over the wall and hitting the house, it's getting through the gaps in the windows so all the towels are in use mopping up sea water on the window sills. He said it's really windy and getting worse

Nailsbythesea · 18/02/2022 08:05

South west of Bristol got up at 4 and all was still.

Wind is low level here and hasn’t really ramped up in the last 4 hours.
