Apologies, couldn’t see a thread about this.

Just seen the most horrendous video of a West Ham footballer drop kicking his cat Shock across the room, then throwing things at it, then slapping it out of someone’s arms.

(Link to video mobile.twitter.com/emilyhewertson/status/1490811894197886981?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet)

It’s being published by the sun, but what I don’t understand is, why when (quite rightly) the lady who slapped the horse was sacked, all West Ham have said was that they “have spoken to him and will deal with internally”.

This is horrendous! The poor cat

He should have his pets taken away and be fined and money given to animal charity.

Awful behaviour

Frollop · 08/02/2022 18:45

I think some of them think they are untouchable because of the money they make and status.

StrawberryPot · 08/02/2022 18:52

It would be enlightening to hear what nationally Mr. Zouma considers himself to be.

Why? What difference does it make to anything?! Confused.

TimePoliceTeam236 · 08/02/2022 18:54

Well West Ham have said he is playing tonight. What.The.Actual.Fuck ??

UltraVividLament · 08/02/2022 19:00

@Nandakanda Zouma was born in France, grew up in France, played football in France at the start of his career. He is a French national and has played many times for France. He is French. To suggest that he's not somehow really French because his parents came to France from CAR before he was born is, well, there's a word for that...

BronwenFrideswide · 08/02/2022 19:06

One off incident my arse.

It was planned and deliberate, he picked the cat up from a chair in the hallway brought it into the kitchen and then kicked it, all while his brother filmed it laughing.

That poor cat was terrified.

Absolute horror of a man deliberately abusing a defenceless creature and I have no doubt it's not the first time, he was confident enough to do in front of his brother and a child fgs.

If true, this is very disappointing.

West Ham are saying it doesn't matter enough.

BronwenFrideswide · 08/02/2022 19:20

I can't believe West Ham haven't dropped him for tonight's game at the very least.

His sponsors have remained cravenly quiet.

Frollop · 08/02/2022 19:21

They shouldn't let him play today. He should be suspended for a period of time. They need to set an example that it's not acceptable.

BronwenFrideswide · 08/02/2022 19:23

Correction Adidas have said the following:

Adidas, who sponsor Zouma have also said they are investigating the incident.

A statement from the sportswear brand said: “We are aware of a deeply upsetting video circulating online. No animal should be subject to cruel and unwarranted abuse, and we are investigating the incident internally.

awaynboilyurheid · 08/02/2022 19:27

The child holding the cat when he slaps it, what kind of example is that to a child? Makes you wonder what they think of the child or consider how upsetting for them too to have a pet slapped out his arms , very worrying behaviour.

I thought it looked rather as if the child was pushing the cat towards the man, not sitting holding it.

tiffanyheart · 08/02/2022 19:43

I agree @mowglika..it was much worse than I thought it would be too. Feel sick now Sad. DS (just got his first phone and saw it) can't understand it and keeps asking why he did it SadSad

HotToddyColdSauvignon · 08/02/2022 19:46

Can’t believe west jam are letting him play tonight Sad

And I can't believe there's actual people on this thread that are reporting posts. Do you actually condone this scumbag's behaviour? Show yourself 🤬

BattleMyDemons · 08/02/2022 19:49

Lol at the deletion. I really, truly, sincerely hope someone doesn’t break his legs, he wouldn’t deserve that at all, absolutely not. There you go mumsnet and whoever the animal abuse sympathiser on here reporting me is.

Gerwurtztraminer · 08/02/2022 19:50

It reminded me of the woman who was caught on CCTV dumping a cat in a wheelie bin so I looked it up. She was taken to court, fined £250 plus costs of over £1000 and banned from owning animals for 5 years. She also resigned from her job in shame (so who knows if employer would, have taken any action) and was hounded by people and press. There were mitigating circumstances in her case; her Dad was terminally ill in hospital at the time (not that it makes OK but explains a bit of her mental state).

Will be interesting to see how this case pans out legally given what he has done appears to be much worse (not seen the videos as can't watch it,) Can't see him resigning somehow. .... shame or not.

Shocking isn’t it.

user1471453601 · 08/02/2022 19:51

I honestly don't think the club I support would put up with this.

In his first season, when we were desperate for defenders, a new defender turned up late, twice, for team events. He didn't play for the team again.

Same manager has the final say on new recruits. Their football credentials are not in doubt by the time the manager gives the board the nod to sign them. Said manager is on record as saying he's as interested in a potential players character as his football skills.

That's not to say the club doesn't make mistakes, it does. But it owns up to them and tried to put them right.

As our Prime Minister is finding out, it's never the actions that bring you down, it's the cover up.

West Ham need to own up to employing a wrong un, and get rid as soon as possible.

I think MNHQ are already keeping a close eye because of the number of racist posts, tbh, so it may be that nobody actually reported your (non-racist, for the record!) one.

Not liking racist comments isn't the same as condoning animal abuse.
