I am in shock but I’m not sure if I have just lost touch with reality. We live in a three bed terrace which is 60s build in zone 6 London. We have three windows at the front and three windows at the back plus sliding doors (one fixed panel and one door) - max 2m wide.

The window cleaner wants to charge £22.

Is that right?

I pay 12 for front of the house only, as I do the bottom back ones and he has no way of getting his ladder thro for the top back ones. Without potentially damaging my brand new very narrow kitchen.

The £12 is for 2 large and 1 slim bathroom window

£8 here (SE)

FreedomforWA · 01/02/2022 02:00

So I'm in Australia and we had a quote for a 3 bed single storey house with 3 sets of sliding doors...$170 which is £90. £22 seems like a bargain to me!

NZ here and same sort of prices; I can't believe people are complaining about £22. I'd bite their hand off if window cleaner quoted me that. Our wages here in NZ are lower than the UK too.
Tanfastic · 01/02/2022 06:36

£6 for just front windows in Lancashire 😂

OddSocksSparklyDocsandDungaree · 01/02/2022 06:49

£5 for 5 windows, the glass on the door and washing down the frames too. Not in London though Smile

userxx · 01/02/2022 07:07

@Chocaholic9 really!! I thought wages were higher over there. I'm surprised at that.

WeAllHaveWings · 01/02/2022 07:39

Cost of living is so much higher in London they probably need to charge that to live!

Scotland - 14 windows, patio doors, sills, frames and front door £10

Tumbleweed101 · 01/02/2022 10:18

£14 for 11 windows and two doors on a 3 bed semi in Suffolk.

Tumbleweed101 · 01/02/2022 10:20

He does do it properly, up a ladder and cleaning windows sills and frames too. Once a month on average. I did cancel one who used the pole thing and let the drips fall onto the lower windows. He stopped cleaning frames too and was same price as the new one.

Norgie · 01/02/2022 10:21

I pay £6 per month. It's just gone up from £5.50 for 11 windows and patio door.
He cleans the frames, sills and glass in front door too.
Bungalow in York's.

2 bed end terrace in the arse end of fuck (lincolnshire) £14. I think it's acceptable as he actually turns up on a regular basis, unlike our previous window cleaners.

User48751490 · 01/02/2022 12:50

£6 for us.

Fifthtimelucky · 01/02/2022 13:56

It sounds like a lot to me. Ours is £24 (outside only) which covers 7 windows at the front (plus front door) and 8 at the back and sides plus back door and 2 long sides of conservatory windows

It's extra when we have the conservatory roof done.

Just the front would be £7.

We're in Surrey and use someone who has a long brush on a pole using filtered water, so no need for a ladder.

glassesblob · 01/02/2022 14:00

Wow, we only pay £4.50 for a 3 bed terrace. It's 3 windows at the front and 3 at the back so not loads. I couldn't imagine paying any more than a tenner!

Trolleedollee · 01/02/2022 14:13

Mine only comes once every 3 months as have all my window cleaners in the past. I'm amazed at them coming every 2 weeks. We probably all have very dirty windows round here

Unprecedentedusername · 01/02/2022 14:39

Up north. £26.50 for 21 windows and 5 bi fold doors.

SartresSoul · 01/02/2022 15:02

I paid £25 for a chain company to clean the windows once. We’re in Yorkshire and have a 5 bed detached (it is not a mansion though, it’s really not that large). I didn’t bother again because they just hosed the windows with a jet spray thing, they didn’t look clean at all. Traditional window cleaner charges £10.

Redlorryyellowlorryblue · 01/02/2022 16:32

I pay £40! 4 bed semi in SE. It’s the cheapest I could get after 3 quotes. They originally wanted £50 as we have a conservatory.

PearlieQueen · 01/02/2022 20:56

Does anyone do their own with a squeegee on an extendable pole? I'm tempted to get one but a decent one is upwards of £100 on amazon Shock

CoffeeWithMyOxygen · 01/02/2022 21:29

@Topseyt

Sounds OK to me. What were you expecting it to be? A £5?
Ours is £5! We’re not in London though, in fairness.
Travis1 · 01/02/2022 21:47

Ha ha I’m £5 for a 3 bed house. Central Scotland whenever he appears(weather dependant) no way on gods green earth I’d be paying £20 a go.

ZenNudist · 01/02/2022 21:49

BeaLola · 02/02/2022 01:09
