Seriously how much?! Window cleaner

I am in shock but I’m not sure if I have just lost touch with reality. We live in a three bed terrace which is 60s build in zone 6 London. We have three windows at the front and three windows at the back plus sliding doors (one fixed panel and one door) - max 2m wide.

The window cleaner wants to charge £22.

Is that right?

£40 every 8 weeks in Kent. Clearly getting ripped off…off to find new window cleaner!

1224boom · 31/01/2022 19:52

I pay £25 for semidetached house 3 windows at front, 3 at the back. If I want the conservatory doing it's £50 total. West Midlands.

Mine doesn’t go up the ladders but uses a special brush with hose on a long stick, perhaps that’s why it’s £10 as he doesn’t have the extra insurance of going up a ladder?

gogohm · 31/01/2022 19:53

@ToastieSnowy The spray ones charge extra here!

blowingagail · 31/01/2022 19:54

Mine's a bargain, more than 20 windows plus high French doors for £15 a go!

Beamur · 31/01/2022 19:54

£7 in West Yorkshire. Includes back door and actually quite a lot of smallish windows! About 12 I think...we're getting a good deal. Doesn't take very long though, they use a kind of water that dries without smearing so just wash the windows with a brush on a hose and that's it.

EchoChamber7 · 31/01/2022 19:55

@Snowiscold

I think 22 is cheap for London. I’ve never been quoted less than £50 and that was 20 years ago. Hence We don’t get our windows cleaned. Most want to put you on a contract to do the windows monthly - but that’s only to do the front. As we are a terrace, they don’t have free access to get to the back - which is the hard bit - so you have to call them up and they charge as and when. But it’s very expensive. I’ve given up now.
I am so glad that you posted- we’ve always had quotes of £50 or more. Zone 2 London. And always try to get put on a contract. We’ve not given up but don’t want monthly contract.

10 windows £20 Scotland

EchoChamber7 · 31/01/2022 19:56

Do any of these prices include inside or all just outside? We always have both inside and out done.

Beamur · 31/01/2022 20:04

Outside only

Outside only. Still won’t get anything below 50. Last quote I had a couple of years ago was about 100, I think, but I can’t swear to it.
cafedesreves · 31/01/2022 20:07
