How many grams of pasta do you have per serving?

Just wondering what a sensible portion of dry pasta is for a healthy serving?

OP posts:
Morgan12 · 19/01/2022 07:06

Approx 4535g

Marmite27 · 19/01/2022 07:08

100g apart from one recipe where it’s 75g.

Dippingdots · 19/01/2022 07:20

75g is the recommended on the packs and it's what I use now since getting back down to normal bmi. In a world where I could eat as much as I want with no weight gain I could probably eat several times that, love pasta.

We have 200g between 3 - DD is 8.

@GirlOfTudor

If you're weighing pasta, you have FAR too much time on your hands.
I only started recently as I was constantly making too much and DH persuaded me! We have digital scales on the worktop so it just takes a second. Much less waste and much less 'pasta belly' feeling since I started! Grin
GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 19/01/2022 08:10

100 g each for me and dh, for the main meal of the day. I always weigh it. We hardly ever have any pudding/dessert though. And we’re not fat.

reluctantbrit · 19/01/2022 08:17

Depends what is served with it, anything between 70-100g.

If it comes with meat or fish then I try to lower the pasta amount. If it is a veggie recipe than a bit more.

It also depends on the appetit of the people eating it, if we had a large lunch and/or cake in the afternoon, portions will be smaller. If I just had a sandwich at lunch and we are really hungry I will do more.

mamaduckbone · 19/01/2022 18:17

500g pack for 2 adults, (me and giant Dh) and very hungry 16yo and 12yo ds. I eat a small portion and they hoover up the rest. Sometimes there's a bit left, but not always.

SnowDropMania · 19/01/2022 18:19

75g. I used to do 120!

How come it takes you so long to weigh pasta that you don't have time? It takes most people a few seconds.

MrsTimRiggins · 19/01/2022 18:27

@Decorbreadthegingerate

I count out eight tubes of penne
😂

75g generally. I fucking love pasta and have to weigh it or I get mega carried away 😂

Laufeythejust · 19/01/2022 18:28

I normally have 120g of cooked pasta, I think that’s about 50g dried. I put loads of meat and veg in the sauce to make up for the small portion though I just don’t find pasta filling for the amount of calories it is so fill up on everything else instead.

RampantIvy · 19/01/2022 18:28

I have digital scales, so I put the saucepan on the scales and weigh the pasta in the pan. It only takes seconds. I boil water in the kettle and pour it onto the pasta.

I would be the size of a house if I didn't weigh it.

optimistic40 · 19/01/2022 18:42

Depends what I'm having with the pasta. If it's just pasta with pesto and vegetables, then I'd have around 100g. When I salmon or chicken I'd reduce the pasta a bit.

LadyOfMisrule · 19/01/2022 19:38

500g bag for 1 adult and 4 teenagers. I don’t like pasta.

MrsDThomas · 19/01/2022 21:42

Never realised people weigh it.

Ive used sight for ever!

Tabitha888 · 19/01/2022 21:46

Whatever i want 😂🙌🏻🤰🏻

canbage · 19/01/2022 21:50

Presumed only those who were diets weighed it, we just pour & have big portions 😆

I’m not on a diet because I weigh my pasta!
canbage · 19/01/2022 22:00

That's why I said I presumed only dieters weighed pasta or food regularly. I did not know it was a thing.

Blueplan · 19/01/2022 22:08

We have 50g each. I have to weigh it as dh is diabetic and has to watch his carbs, which means that even 50 of pasta is a rare treat for us.

RampantIvy · 19/01/2022 22:16

Never realised people weigh it.

Never ralised that people didn't weigh it Smile

I meant that the reason I don’t have to be on a diet is because I weigh my pasta (and other carbs).
Trinacham · 19/01/2022 22:17

75g per person

HeronLanyon · 19/01/2022 22:19

Well I only weigh it when I do one partic bake which I only ever eat when cooking just for me as the baking dish fits 250gms perfectly. About once a month.
Then I eat half of it. Then a bit later I eat the other half.
I eat a huge amount of pasta and always have. I am not overweight !
