Just wondering what a sensible portion of dry pasta is for a healthy serving?

^ And to add - pasta for breakfast is a step too far for me!

Not sure why there seems to be this narrative that people who weigh their pasta are these carb-obsessed, joyless, uptight nit-pickers, whilst the non-weighers are happy free-spirits with much more important concerns Confused.

Personally I view weighing food as an extension of household budgeting. If I use my scales (which takes seconds) I know how many meals I expect to get, which helps me to budget and reduces waste.

In the same way that I go to the butcher and ask for the exact number of sausages I need, rather than getting them in multiples of 6, or the right amount of mince rather than having to buy 500g.

Not many people would be full of (faux) confusion if you told them you actually looked at price tags in the supermarket rather than just chuck stuff in randomly. But take that to it's logical conclusion by being careful to use what you need, and you suddenly must be obsessed with carbs.

@Alysskea

I am so disturbed by this thread. Life is too short to weigh 50g of pasta!
I'm overweight and I don't want to be any more, that's why I weigh it.
cornbeeflegs · 20/01/2022 18:58

About 60-70g usually, although I often end up making too much!

Oblomov22 · 20/01/2022 19:20

Oh dear. 60g? I use more like 100g+!!
I use a 500g bag for 4 people. There's enough for some lunch left over for me.

blueshoes · 20/01/2022 21:35

120 g is an average man-sized portion for Dh and a hungry teen ds. 80 g for dd.

CurlyMango · 21/01/2022 21:26

Lol, honestly about 700g for three of us. Plainish meal without lots of other things. There’s usually a little left for one lunch the next day. Hahahha

I'm currently doing slimming world and whilst pasta is a free food, I had 75g of pasta tonight and I was stuffed!

This is my 50g (raw weight). Denby pasta bowl. Lots of meat and veg.

How many grams of pasta do you have per serving?
ISpyCobraKai · 22/01/2022 00:53
