North west thread

YouHaveMail · 17/01/2022 23:22

Noting there is a thread for the east side, I thought a north west thread was needed.

--Also I am very bored at the moment waiting for dc to fall asleep, and this felt like the perfect way to spend the time.

Any other NW mumsnetters here? Let's talk schools, food, leisure....and so on Grin

ZenNudist · 21/01/2022 21:42

Mancunian here. Anyone else affected by Burnham's planned clean air zone. I've just found out and am fuming!

@YouHaveMail yes, my location is exactly as you describe yours!!

jesusmaryjosephandtheweedonkey · 21/01/2022 21:57

@ZenNudist it's kicking off in Bury over it!
Will be virtually every road outside the centre

RiskyCookie · 21/01/2022 21:59

We say bap over here in this neck of the woods. Grin

Diditopknot · 21/01/2022 22:02

Is it a form…or a bench?

fizzypiggy · 21/01/2022 22:07

Oh hello! I'm in barm country/south Lancashire. I've never actually tried parched peas, am I missing out?

InMySpareTime · 21/01/2022 22:11

The clean air zone is a storm in a teacup, it's only commercial vehicles, and even then it's only old polluting ones. People are kicking off about a charge they're worried they might have to pay at an unspecified point in the possible future.
The main actual risk for Joe Public is the ANPR cameras going up all over the place for the CAZ, which will catch all the uninsured and untaxed drivers.

NoWordForFluffy · 21/01/2022 22:12

Evening from Southport!

I'm not too sure what they are here, but I'm originally from East Mids so call them rolls! I think I've seen barm mentioned, however! My kids call them buns, and they're born and bred here. 🤷‍♀️

Which chippy are you going to, @PunishmentSnart?

gluenotsoup · 21/01/2022 22:16

It’s a muffin.
Chips and gravy with it please 👍🏼

gluenotsoup · 21/01/2022 22:18

However- a bread roll is always served with soup, a bun has icing on it, and muffins with chocolate chips in are cupcakes.
Where am I?😂

Harrysutton · 21/01/2022 22:23

Hi all

It’s a chip teacake for me in East Lancs.

No idea what the weathers been like we’re all stuck in with covid but it’s reet. Grin

YouHaveMail · 21/01/2022 23:57

@PaperMonster I never thought I'd find anyone on mumsnet from my neck of the woods 😂

TheOnlyMrsW · 22/01/2022 08:35

@PaperMonster @YouHaveMail I suspect we're either in the same place or not very far, I'm where the steam trains end their - extremely short - journeys. We're off to Hebden Bridge today and it's a 20 minute drive!

PunishmentSnart · 22/01/2022 09:09

@NoWordForFluffy In Southport it’s always the Sandgrounder Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 22/01/2022 09:17

Good choice!

Our local is The Fryery which is really nice too. 😋

PaperMonster · 22/01/2022 14:48

@YouHaveMail and @TheOnlyMrsW OMG what if you know me???!!! 🤣🤣

YouHaveMail · 22/01/2022 16:55

@TheOnlyMrsW ohhh we are very close, the steam train doesn't come to our town (takes us 30 mins to get to Hebden bridge)...@PaperMonster Ohhh maybe we do know each other IRL 😂

Hello 👋 It’s a barm where I am South Ribble

iklboo · 22/01/2022 17:30

Now....what do you call a narrow passageway between houses - like with back to back terraces?

gluenotsoup · 22/01/2022 17:33

A ginnel

PunishmentSnart · 22/01/2022 17:33

The entry

Saucery · 22/01/2022 17:36

@insancerre

Hello

Fylde coast
Anyone know where Owain is?
Not seen him for ages

No, we were wondering that. Roger might have mentioned it, but we missed it. But then, Roger says everything at least twelfty times so maybe not. Hope he’s ok, the little drumming whizzpoppet. ❤️
