Noting there is a thread for the east side, I thought a north west thread was needed.

--Also I am very bored at the moment waiting for dc to fall asleep, and this felt like the perfect way to spend the time.

Any other NW mumsnetters here? Let's talk schools, food, leisure....and so on Grin

Oh @iklboo sorry about your loss, but I do feel you need to do those food items.

I had a significant birthday at Nutters and loved it!

Ok. My gran was in the 'Cafe Ladies' group at church. They mashed tinned salmon with Jacobs Cream Crackers (to make it go further) then spread it on bunnies. That's a trade secret from 1964 for you. What happens in the kitchen stays in the kitchen.

I’m not a fan of Manchester. I used to go to Liverpool a lot as a teen but haven’t been for 30 years - I really want to go and take my ten year old daughter.

Manchester but only because I've been more often and am more familiar. I live smack bang in between and have only been to Liverpool around 5 times. Had a night out there last weekend and had a fantastic time.

Manchester but mostly because I've lived here in Manchester 25 years but only visited Liverpool twice Blush

Manchester.
Liverpool is ok but Manchester is better.

@iklboo

It's my dad's wake on Sunday. I really want to do salmon paste finger rolls now. And hard boiled eggs with the yolk scooped out, mashed with salad cream & bunged back in.

Thanks Sorry about your dad. The bunfight should certainly include those items, though the egg yolks need to be piped not 'bunged' back in, and lightly dusted with paprika.

Manchester. Can't wait for the summer as I'm going to make the most of town this year.

@ErrolTheDragon - you're quite right! Swirly piping bag, too. ☺️

@InMySpareTime Thank you!! That's exactly the kind of place I had in mind. How nice does that menu look!

It's proper lovely food, and the beers are nice too. It's all fresh and usually fairly locally sourced. The front bar is a bit draughty in winter though, sit by the fire if you can, or retreat to the back room!

Sounds perfect as will be going with two beer drinkers. I'm not going to lie, the fire sold it for me!

@Cookie79

It was sad to see that Nutters had closed- his other one, The Bird at Birtle Is still open apparently. Had my 30th meal at Nutters and DD’s first afternoon tea was there. It was a lovely restaurant but not in the best location. Especially as so many amazing restaurants sprung up closer to town and village centres.

I was lucky enough to be at The Waterside in Littleborough on its opening night which to me was on a level with Nutters.

And the Del Lago (it’ll always be the Del Lago to me with its “profit roles”) will always have a special place in my heart.

Relocated last year which hasn’t been easy (house left in disgusting state) but teen DD is much happier, her medical care is better for her health conditions, I have a better job AND we can see Blackpool Tower from the end of our driveway!

I keep meaning to try The Bird at Birtle, must book it now I’m thinking of it.
I went for afternoon tea at Nutters ages ago. It was nice, but not enough to go back again. What didn’t you like about the location? Was it the village itself (Norden) or that exact spot?

I went to the Waterside in Littleborough once, liked it although MIL was there being miserable, but that’s another story…

Never been to Del Lago, but heard good reports.
The Black Bull in Ogden is nice for food.

Glad the relocation has worked out well for you and your daughter.

Wonder if anyone else is awaiting the dreaded secondary school allocations 😐

We ended up with choices that were a little out of the way (and of course out of catchment), with one being a grammar...DS has his heart set on one of the choices so hoping for his first choice (probably the only people who put the grammar as second choice 😂)
