@Theoldcuriosityshop

He has only lost the HRH in an official capacity, in private he is still HRH.
For now.

@Theoldcuriosityshop

But what good is that to him? So what if the driver and butler still have to call him HRH?

He no longer gets to swan around having the plebs bow to him and call him Your Royal Highness. For someone as entitled as Andrew, easily the most arrogant of his generation of royals, that is a major humiliation.

AbsoluteMeringue · 13/01/2022 18:46

She knows he's lying, poor Queen.

AllThePogs · 13/01/2022 18:46

They had no choice. Over 140 veterans wrote demanding he is stripped of these titles. It was going to blow up into a big story if they did nothing.

MollyPea · 13/01/2022 18:47

And where do you think all of her personal wealth comes from? Hundreds of years of taxes and untaxed inheritance, money accumulated from much poorer people and farmers living on and working their huge masses of land.. think about it

velvetvixen · 13/01/2022 18:47

He's 61. I can imagine him becoming a very bitter and grumpy old man.

phishy · 13/01/2022 18:47

@Aldinho57

That's such a shame, can we not do the same to Harry,
Just for marrying a black women? Pathetic,
cleocleo81 · 13/01/2022 18:47

@TheWernethWife

I feel that Charles and William have had a hand in this.
The news reported they heavily influenced the decision.
Nanny0gg · 13/01/2022 18:49
@Nanny0gg Arf, what would you expect them to say? In the Royal Family, being able to spell your own (ridiculously overblown) name is a sign of exceptional intelligence. They're all as thick as custard.
I would (respectfully) disagree.

Depending on what exactly you mean by 'thick'

Notsomerryandbright · 13/01/2022 18:49

Oof bet he's sweating now. Oh wait...

MenoMom · 13/01/2022 18:49

I think he now gets to be addressed with a matey 'your Grace' instead of the more deferential 'your Royal Highness', which has to chaffe.

He also has to do a clear out of his dressing up box as he won't be Colonel in Chief of lots of random regiments anymore.

I suspect his good friends from work as UK trade envoy - Middle Eastern dprinces and the like will be loyal though , as he was honourably loyal to Epestine, these men have their bro code. l

amusedtodeath1 · 13/01/2022 18:50

I think we can have pity for any innocent person affected by this.

MsTSwift · 13/01/2022 18:51

Always struggled with the whole concept of royalty intrinsic acceptance they are “better” than the rest of us - turns out they are actually worse!

Luredbyapomegranate · 13/01/2022 18:51

I think it will have been Charles call.

Once which I bet he’d have made earlier if it wasn’t for resistance from palace. But I think they were all surprised the judge didn’t throw it out because of her previous agreement, which almost certainly is what would have happened in the UK.

PupInAPram · 13/01/2022 18:51

What he really needs is an orange jumpsuit and a custodial sentence.

velvetvixen · 13/01/2022 18:51

Charles and William are looking to the future. They don't want this taint hanging over their own accessions,

Peregrina · 13/01/2022 18:52

Nor is he going to be able to go swanning off to the USA.

popppi · 13/01/2022 18:52

Not to derail but why is this a civil case and not criminal?

giggly · 13/01/2022 18:52

@Aldinho57 come on then please
Tell us why you think Harry is the same as his uncle who’s on sexual offences charges and deserves the same consequences? What is he done other than remove his wife and child/ children from a clearly toxic family.

notimagain · 13/01/2022 18:52

@AllThePogs

TBH I don’t think the letter itself had that much to do with this decision.

140 + signatories isn’t that big a percentage of those who have served over recent years and a look at the signatories reveals few if any above Lieutenant Colonel/Wing Commander/Commander level…

user1641832968632486258 · 13/01/2022 18:53

He had no qualms about using his power to trash Giuffre and her reputation. And to a large degree our society allowed and enabled that because blaming and trashing victims is what we normally do. It is deeply embedded in our culture.

I bet he never expected Giuffre would be able to bring down his reputation like this.

Oh, how that must hurt.

JanuaryBluehoo · 13/01/2022 18:54

Molly. I'm hope that comment is not directed at me!

Someone mentioned his daughters. Of course his daughters will be suffering it's in humane to suggest they wouldn't be.
This is the it dad who they are supposed to look up too.

I really dislike comments like yours because they imply someone can't be disgusted, outraged etc over Prince Andrews conduct, je, gm etc... Without hating everyone associated with them!

Please don't try or waste your time casting pointless aspersions.
I've been in depth on je for years, read vast amounts about him, watched all the documentaries etc.

AllThePogs · 13/01/2022 18:54

@notimagain it does not matter who they are. It is about the publicity it would generate.
