I wonder if this will prompt a further distancing of commonwealth countries from the UKs sphere of influence ? I am sure quite a few of them have far too much experience of being exploited by rich white men - and their families - already.

I don't think it's too much of a stretch to say the world would be a different place had John Smith lived. The Iraq war would probably have never happened for a start. Which would have had a global impact.
