Anyone tried the McDonald's McPlant?

Interested in anyone's views before I try at the weekend! I am a big fan of fake-meat burgers (the only category of fake meat I think is indistinguishable from/superior to the original) and usually have Linda McCartney's or Co-Ops own brand, so looking forward to trying this!

On a side note, anyone have a good fake-meat sausage recommendations? None I've tried have hit the mark.

Thanks!

I had the McPlant at the weekend and it was delicious. Will definitely be having more soon.

Well, I had one for lunch and quite frankly it was dreadful, small and dry and flavourless, the Burger King ones are much much nicer.

I did ask them to swap to normal cheese but they said they were not allowed as that would mean it wasn't vegan but agreed it was a crazy decision and customers should have the choice.

It has a very weird aftertaste and not worth £5.41 oh and it was small, which turned out to be a blessing as I'd have struggled to finish it if it was the same size as the Burger King ones.

Unsurprisingly disappointed.

Was £5.41 the price for the meal including burger or just the burger? I thought it was a bit cheaper than that for just the burger.

Mc Plant Meal and Big Mac Meal are both £5.09 at my nearest McDs. Both £3.59 without the meal.

I haven't tried the McDonalds one but BK now do a similar one and I have had two and loved them!

MouseyMoose · 12/01/2022 15:05

This thread has made me google my nearest Burger King and I'm off to try one at the weekend!

@Tobleroney

Imagine it was a Mc gluten-free burger or a Mc low calorie burger or a Mc allergen-free burger... No fuss whatsoever!!! It's only the plant-based stuff that gets the kind of microscopic scrutiny, internet dietician ''experts'', copied and pasted ingredients lists and fake 'concern' from evangelistic meat-eaters, a few of which hopped onto this thread earlier...
If any of them did gluten free, I'd be over the moon that for once, I actually had a choice to eat out/get takeaway or not.

As I'm currently on day 2 of having been glutened by cross contamination or a mislabelling of ingredients, having been daft enough to trust labels though, it's a lot safer to stick to minimally processed dead things, veg and rice.

Really miss spicy beanburgers, though.

I sent my confirmed meat eating, vegetable hating friend one of these burgers earlier as a joke. She said it was quite nice.

I had a mcplant yesterday.
It was tasty. I’m thinking when I can have my next fix.

Is this only going to be here for January? I hope not.

RMS0209 · 17/01/2022 14:19

I had it, I thought it was nice.
Had it as a meal with juice & fries. First time I've ever been full from McDonalds (I'm veggie and don't like the other veggie/vegan choices)

I'm pretty sure it's permanent as it has been in some areas since October.
cushioncovers · 17/01/2022 20:17

It's a permanent thing.

Rummikub · 17/01/2022 20:34

Oh good news!
That means I can pace myself.
I was encouraging one of my students to try one - works there and gets a free one.

MouseyMoose · 22/01/2022 10:53

I found myself needing tea in a motorway services last night and there was a Burger King! So thanks to the recommendations on this thread I tried the plant whopper and it was delicious (I'm aware it's not veggie/vegan but I'm not either).
