*this month - not morning

Meha5a · 01/04/2022 09:17

Hit my target, but it was a struggle (again), the poor dictation outweighed the good (again) so had to catch up on the weekends (again) 🙄

joewe41 · 02/04/2022 17:20

What does everyone think of the new invoicing system? OK I'll admit maybe I'm hoping for too much but put my invoice in on Thursday night but it's still processing. Was kind of hoping a cheque might have been issued. So wish they paid by BACS transfer Sad.

Whitestar55 · 04/04/2022 12:48

I like the new invoicing system, but would also prefer BACS payment. I also wish the weather would warm up as I'm concerned about putting my heating on with the bills skyrocketing!

Gally123 · 04/04/2022 13:06

@Whitestar55 - I would also like a bit of sun. It is just dull and drizzle today.

Not much good dictation today but plenty of interruptions - I had one old man (looked about 70 at least and not really able to do the work he was offering) asking about work in the garden - after I spent much of the weekend cutting down bushes - and the evidence was scattered in the driveway. However, he knocked on my door, (no bell) continuously until I answered, and I mean continuously.

Love the new invoicing system. So much simpler - no printing, no stamps, no having to go to the post box. Just looking forward to when we get paid by BACS now!
I have had some excellent dictation this morning - it makes such a difference to how much we can earn.

Has anyone else suffered abuse for that fact that this is your job, i.e:

'You only work part time at home (in their eyes), why did you give up your proper job?, you can have time off when you want because you're self employed, you've got it easy all you do is sit at computer when you want to, if you don't earn much why do you do it?, why don't you go back to work?.

Meha5a · 05/04/2022 13:14

@Whitestar55, when I first started out WFH there was a perception that I was typing with one hand whilst swigging wine with the other !!!

@Meha5a That actually sounds like a good idea! Grin

bluebell8329 · 05/04/2022 14:16

Hi everyone

I started typing for Dict8 a few weeks ago. So far haven't found it too bad, taking the feedback and (constructive) criticism on board. How much do you all aim to type a day/week?

x

Meha5a · 05/04/2022 14:24

@Whitestar55 - you should try it, takes the edge off things 🤣🤣🤣

Gally123 · 05/04/2022 16:09

@Whitestar55 - I suffered abuse when I was on holiday in I think it was 2010, we were a small group and I was the focus of spleen vented for working for the NHS, due to cuts, waiting lists, etc - it was all my fault. I remember discussing it with my manager at the dreaded yearly assessment that I became embarrassed to admit I worked for the NHS as at that time it had such low public opinion.

Hi I have just started typing with T-pro so am getting lots of feedback, any tips from anyone, I expect it depends on what hospital you type for but I was a bit shocked to find they don't use numbered lists using the number tab at the top which automatically indents, I am sure I will get there eventually, the formatting is a bit different from Dict8 though.

Gally123 · 05/04/2022 17:48

@deewu, it must depend on your hospital as I type numbered lists. Yes, the formatting is a bit different. I use text replacement for doctors names for sign off, as that really helps with speed and spelling but I know some letter templates give the names

OP posts:
carosel2 · 05/04/2022 18:34

@deewu - I use numbered lists like @Gally123 and have been told not to indent or underline or bold headings unless stated, and literally the list goes under the heading. It may be different for other hospitals so it is difficult to advise. I also know the secretary changes my letter when it gets sent back to how they themselves like it to look, which is a waste of their time to me as we are suppose to be helping them. I know this as sometimes, I go in to the last letters for advice etc. if VR has transcribed gobbledegook, as it does from time to time and I have noticed it is me that has typed the letter previously. I type for the same doctors a lot and a I seem to be typing most of their letters. I asked my team lead about this and she said there is a standard letter we all use as agreed by that particular Trust, (I only type for one hospital) and said if the secretary is doing that then we cannot say anything, as long as you are doing what we ask at this end. The text replacement is a god send, it works just like auto text and helps with names and addresses or anything you want to put in that the doctor dictates regularly. I have put in all sorts and it speeds up the work no end. You will get used to it I'm sure. At least they are nice with their feedback and will expect you not to get it right all the time being new. Sometimes, I find it easier and quicker to type the full letter out instead of backspacing etc and filling in the right text VR gets wrong and that's where the text replacement really helps me. Good luck, I am sure you will get to grips with it all

deewu · 05/04/2022 20:40

@Gally123 @carosel2 thanks for the tips :)

Meha5a · 06/04/2022 16:51

The lack of letter structure today is making my head spin. 😣

Gally123 · 08/04/2022 13:53

giggles from the VR today make me wonder what is going on in hospitals these days - female dictator - "I exposed to this 69 year old man..." shades of "Carry on Matron."
I changed it to "spoke"

OP posts:
Whitestar55 · 09/04/2022 10:52

Haha yes that's one good thing about VR, you get a laugh! I'm wondering transcribing VR might be easier in the long run. I'm finding DICT8's method increasingly labour intensive partly due to the very limited word processing functions (no autotext etc), having to guess names and the dreaded non-lucrative notes box for multiple reasons.

Gally123 · 09/04/2022 12:54

@Whitestar55 - yes I was a bit dubious about VR at first but agreed as I was desperate to earn some money with DICT8 becoming so dire. The basic pay rate is lower (understandably as VR SHOULD be quicker and easier), but once you get used to it I manage now to make the threshold for the 10% bonus, which is good (ie £100 a month extra per £1,000 earned). There always seems to be work and at the weekends it is easy just to log on even for 30 mins and earn a bit, all mounts up. Also at times if you are not feeling 100% enthusiastic for work I find I can transcribe VR whereas I might not feel like a DICT8 struggle....

@Gally123 Thanks for the info, I think you made a wise move there.

Gally123 · 11/04/2022 15:56

All I need - Monday afternoon and I lose internet connection - discover man up a telegraph pole outside - he was not happy to have his photo taken! I think the man two doors down was either having Sky set up or disconnected, but not sure why I was affected. Hope no more interruptions.

Gally123 · 13/04/2022 14:26

anyone having problems with Tpro at the moment? Keep getting an error message up saying "something has gone wrong" and nothing will load.

OP posts:
Whitestar55 · 13/04/2022 15:37

I'm finding it impossible to make silk purses today, so pigs' ears it is, as dictated!

Meha5a · 13/04/2022 17:20

@Whitestar55, this is very coincidental - that was my thought yesterday !!!! 🤣🤣🤣
