Hello Ladies - hopefully a new thread for you... @Carosel2 @Whitestar55 @Chrissols @danblack87 @flutterby18 @wfh21 @workingfromhomenow @cherryblossom114 @Lovemydaxie @homeworkmum and anyone else I have forgotten.

I was just wondering as so many of you are now diversifying/adding extra strings to your bows with other companies whether that will mean there will be more tasks available for the core of Dict8 (those of us still solely working for Dict8)!! We shall see. For my part I simply cannot commit to XXX amount of letters typed per day and sorting out new equipment [I am such a technophobe!!] Good luck to all Smile

carosel2 · 16/03/2022 17:02

@deewu - glad you have been accepted with Tpro, I average between 300 to 500 letters a month and they are more than happy with that, they told me anything is better than nothing providing they are accurate. I get some excellent feedback and when I first started they were very kind in how they gave me the constructive criticism. They are very helpful and once you get in to it, it is very straight forward. They have strong Irish accents but I find them clear in the specialities that I do but then I have tackled a few different ones and I have found them to be okay too. I use my foot pedal I use with Dict8 @Whitestar55 - when I did my test I was told there was no urgency in sending them back and they were very straight forward. They want accuracy and knowledge of terminology. Regards to speed I was told they would rather me submit accurate work at a slower rate than type lots of letters that have lots of mistakes on. If you are fast and accurate then it is best for both of you. They have a standard way of doing things just like Dict8. They do quality checks and you can flag things up you dont understand and they will come back and answer your question. It is VR so not much typing, but sometimes, I type the letter for a change and sometimes you can copy and paste medications etc from previous letters too which adds to your character count plus you can always look back on previous letters too if you cannot understand what is being said and the VR makes a mockery of it. It works for me as I go in between Tpro and Dict8, but find I am doing more Tpro now as the dictation with Dict8 is so shocking. I only work for one hospital but even though its one hospital there can be 700 plus letters on a day. It has certainly saved my bacon working for them. I only logged on the other day to a lovely comment by my team lead to keep up the excellent work! It makes you feel appreciated.

Whitestar55 · 16/03/2022 17:42

Thank you @Gally123 and @Carosel2

Cherryblossom114 · 17/03/2022 03:13

@danblack87 You're not alone. Slowly/solely tapping away with Dict8. Did the test with Tpro then got an email back from that woman who is always on holiday to say Im on their list and needed to get a foot pedal which I dont have. Didnt hear back from her and didnt bother as I dont think I could keep to their requirements so not disappointed. There appears to be work on Dict8 server at every time of the day and night albeit atrocious but making proper use of the AltN. Been with them now for over six months and asked for another speciality which much to my surprise they accommodate but then they have been busy advertising, even again today so its a win win all around....

danblack87 · 17/03/2022 04:30

@cherryblossom114: It's okay for me to just do DICT8 - I am simply limited by certain restrictions on my available time and have been managing on the income I accrue. I secured a further specialty too so that has helped somewhat. Let's see how it goes in the New Tax Year. I don't understand why they are still advertising when the tasks available are not in anyway 'in abundance' ... well, I can only see my Specialties, I suppose, and there must just be more work available in the others??!!

Newinmarch22 · 17/03/2022 10:30

Same here, it suits me to do how much or little I want to do. I have more than one specialty and must admit there is always work on the system (although a lot less at weekends) but the majority of the time I just leave it as the quality is so dire and I am not spending precious time trying to decipher for 8p a line!

Cherryblossom114 · 17/03/2022 11:40

I guess they are not getting the calibre of people like us 'oldies' 🙂
But part of their ad is "At this time we are only looking for medical secretaries with significant experience in Acute Trusts, we are not looking for General Practice secretaries.
secretaries/transcribers with experience in Haematology/Breast/Renal/Rheumatology or Urology"

Meha5a · 17/03/2022 11:50

I find the weekend dictation (presumably by consultants) is better in my specialties and I can near enough reach what I used to earn in the olden times 🤣

I was wondering the other day, as we find DICT8 staff so toxic, what it must be like working in the office 😬

musicismagic333 · 17/03/2022 11:54

So with TPro are you just listening and editing, not typing? I really smashed my wrist a couple of months ago, and started back typing this week but it's too darn painful, will discuss with Physio tomorrow. It could be life saver if I just have to listen and edit.

danblack87 · 17/03/2022 12:23

@meha5a: I find the dictation better at weekends too; I am sure we have at least one specialty the same! I must, admit from my side, I have never come across any 'toxic' staff and I still have no idea who 'she who may not be named is'??

deewu · 17/03/2022 12:39

@musicmagic333 My test was to type two audio tasks about 50 seconds long each, they were not in my preferred specialties and I had to do quite a lot of googling of names, procedures etc. but I managed after listening about 10 times :).

I have applied to Tpro as I have decided to leave my 15 hour a week GP surgery job and wanted to build in some resilience for the future. It was not good for mental health, the whole place is run in a reactive and chaotic style, constantly changing things, moving offices, changing line managers and I found I could not put into practice any of the CBT things I had been learning to cope with anxiety. My last day is in two weeks' time. Looking forward to the future and working how and when I choose.

Is everyone who works for Tpro aware that they now have two days off for holidays St Patricks day etc.

Weekends are definitely better for me too.

Newinmarch22 · 17/03/2022 12:42

So lovely to click on a task and it is nice and clear. I love doing the private clinics with (presumably) Consultants who have perfect diction. And yes imagine working in the office, thank goodness we can work from home!

Gally123 · 17/03/2022 12:53

@deewu - I knew Tpro were on holiday today - did not know it was two days.

@deewu 'the whole place is run in a reactive and chaotic style, constantly changing things, moving offices, changing line managers' That's exactly how things were run at my Trust. I hope you feel better just knowing you'll soon be out of there.

Whitestar55 · 17/03/2022 14:46

Is anyone else having a WTF, ALT N, what the eck are you saying, time to log off and go shopping instead, day with DICT8? It must take some effort to dictate so badly, they must be as exhausted as I am trying to transcribe it.

danblack87 · 17/03/2022 15:01

@whitestar55: mid morning was like that so started cleaning ... things have picked up since!

Newinmarch22 · 17/03/2022 15:46

@whitestar55 - yes have had one of those days, logged off and went shopping instead! Such a waste of everyone's time, they all need lessons in how to dictate letters properly!

Cherryblossom114 · 17/03/2022 17:36

I think this time of year and Sept that they change or have new registrars ...

danblack87 · 17/03/2022 17:54

@cherryblossom114: Yes they do change over about now - weekends I find the dictations are clearer AD Hoc Consultant/Specialist/Private clinics I believe; I won't be working this weekend though ... other plans

danblack87 · 17/03/2022 18:01

@Newinmarch22: I would not work in a Trust admin office again for all the tea in China/India (I have been out of that now for approx 13 years or so ... NOW that is what I call deflating/toxic/disorganised/manic/interruption after interruption/cover person(s)/cover multiple phones and stick a broom 'where it can't be seen on the way round' chaos. I like working in my 'own little world' albeit with the niggles that occur Grin.

danblack87 · 17/03/2022 18:06

oh and don't forget in the Trust the multiple meetings/training courses/Appraisals you have to attend that ultimately lead to nothing more than a waste of time as nothing is ever implemented or if it is the whole situation is worse than the previous situation which is worse than the one before that and so on ad infinitum. Then why is the work not done/why is there no-one in the office /why is clinic running late derr, derr, derr, derr and DERR

Cherryblossom114 · 17/03/2022 20:04

....and no one notice when you stay a little later to catch up but the world and its partners and the keyboard warriors will notice if you ever come in late ..

danblack87 · 17/03/2022 20:15

@Cherryblossom114: and that one too I heard but not experienced nor participated in ... just too ridiculous for words. My oh my gone are the days of getting ready for work/make-up/buses to catch that are never on time/hike to the office - AND that long trek home in the rain and now. NO I don't miss any of that. Grin

danblack87 · 17/03/2022 20:19

@Cherryblossom114: No-one notices if you stay late 'cos they all f**ED of an hour ago!!!!

Gally123 · 17/03/2022 20:33

@danblack87, @Cherryblossom114 - esp when it is snowing and all the buses are finishing early but the boss does not tell you as she left when the first flake fell....
