Hello Ladies - hopefully a new thread for you... @Carosel2 @Whitestar55 @Chrissols @danblack87 @flutterby18 @wfh21 @workingfromhomenow @cherryblossom114 @Lovemydaxie @homeworkmum and anyone else I have forgotten.

OP posts:
Whitestar55 · 31/01/2022 10:54

I thought maybe we could get away with it - 15 extra characters' - woooooo!

Whitestar55 · 31/01/2022 10:58

Some also mentioned about Urology requesting no full stops after sentences in numbered lists, so are DICT8 saying that EVERY Urology Department in all the hospitals have requested this? I doubt it. I think perhaps one hospital requested it, so all the Urology Departments in all hospitals get lumbered with this awful layout.

Lovemydaxie · 31/01/2022 11:04

I've always typed Hospital number: RTX xxxxxxx . Bet I get that feedback now, for goodness sake!

danblack87 · 31/01/2022 11:09

@Lovemydaxie: Same; always typed the same way as you with no feedback BUT now apparently it applies to RTX and MRN and probably BMI ... again, I think it is down to random checking. I'll go with the rule until someone changes it ... but we are not mind readers.

Whitestar55 · 31/01/2022 14:05

The dictation is awful today. I've really had enough of this job. Stuff it, I'm going out into the sunshine for a while to contemplate for a break away from this trashy poverty-mongering occupation.

Cherryblossom114 · 31/01/2022 17:10

From one of Feedbacks:
"November 2021- please note, RTX is the customer's name and
therefore should be typed as RTX:00000 ie, drop the words 'hospital number"

Whitestar55 · 31/01/2022 17:28

Yes RTX is the Trust code, so perhaps we should type RTX Number: haha

carosel2 · 31/01/2022 17:55

@danblack87 & @Gally123 that's exactly one of my feedbacks too. They should update the transcribers about these new requirements and I have to say this hospital throws the horrors of dictation Im mostly getting that seems to be choking my good ones coming through too!

carosel2 · 31/01/2022 17:59

....and if thats the case Ive had a couple of doctors from this Trust who actually dictates 'Hospital Number: RTX00000' without stating colon after letters

carosel2 · 31/01/2022 18:08

....im still typing hospital number I want paying for it. They need to notify us collectively and @Whitestar55 yes some just dictate numbers and DOB without stating the DOB bit etc. so do we not put them in! But if we didnt wed get the wrath for not. Its a piss take and I still would.like paying for the notes. Ive typed a full paragraph of instructions today, ive notified them but not heard anything

wfh21 · 31/01/2022 20:05

@danblack87 didn't you know mind reading was in the job description ?

So they take on new hospitals and don't ask if they want their letters typed in a specific format ? what, do they just wait until loads of letters get sent off and wait for the hospital to complain, makes no sense. If they do discuss formatting why is this not passed onto us when they are taken on ? Seems to me this company gets off on this over-lording behaviour.

The dictation is a disgrace.

The letters are so poorly dictated. One minute dictation about the pts history then bounces to their job back to history, then to family history, back to job, back to the aliment, onto the drugs, back to the examination its mind boggling god knows what the patients think when they receive this crap !!!!!!

Workingfromhomenow · 31/01/2022 22:41

I also received the feedback re RTX, having been typing Hospital Number RTX: XXXXXX Yes, it would have been better for all concerned if we had been notified that’s how they wanted it. Does anyone know which hospital this is? I’ve been typing quite a lot for them lately. I have to say some of their nurse practitioners are decent dictators.
I had someone dictate “double dot” the other day, meaning a colon!

danblack87 · 01/02/2022 05:54

@workingfromhomenow: I had 'double dot' a few weeks ago LOL; I also had 'dot comma'!!!! cracked me up ... briefly. Grin

danblack87 · 01/02/2022 10:34

Dictation driving me crackers this morning - only managed three decipherable ones so far Sad

danblack87 · 01/02/2022 10:35

Posted my invoice this morning, was wondering whether to hold it off for another month but bank balance says 'NOT AN OPTION' LOL

danblack87 · 03/02/2022 09:44

Oh my, I have not found one decent dictation to type yet ... getting bored now!

wfh21 · 03/02/2022 12:32

@danblack87 tell me about it !!!! this week even the patient names are not clear at this stage - the other day was it Michael, Michelle, Malcolm, Morris ??? the list was endless had to change the name three times in the letter before I took a guess !!!!! bet that one comes back to haunt me 👻🤣

Whitestar55 · 03/02/2022 12:53

Yes, there's some really weird dictation lately.

Whitestar55 · 03/02/2022 17:31

Thoughts on the latest instruction video regarding difficult dictation????

Whitestar55 · 03/02/2022 17:34

Looks like we are being asked to perform as unpaid Quality Control officers now.

Gally123 · 03/02/2022 17:43

@Whitestar55 not looked at it yet, but it seems to me that they acknowledge the dictation is poor but are not prepared to do anything about it.

OP posts:
Whitestar55 · 03/02/2022 17:49

They appear to be asking us to email them with the task numbers of un-transcribable tasks and to not attempt to transcribe them and leave them in the list and await feedback as to whether they can be transcribed with lots of notes or not, but how would we know the outcome as the tasks would just be put back into the shared lists wouldn't they, so why should we waste our valuable time informing them of the un-transcribables.

Gally123 · 03/02/2022 18:08

Typical!! My link to the video clip does not work! Tried to find via YouTube but nothing.

OP posts:
wfh21 · 03/02/2022 18:40

I haven't got the email yet I went on via YouTube too @Gally123 and couldn't get on. What does it mean 30 subscribers ? does that mean that the email has only been sent to 30 transcribers to view ? my suspicious head went into overdrive and I'm convinced they are trying to whittle down who is on this thread 🤣 I think I need a holiday !!!

Workingfromhomenow · 03/02/2022 19:21

If something is very difficult or impossible to type I just leave it, presuming that Dict8 are keeping an eye on the lists and if something is sitting there for a long time realise there is something wrong with it. By the time we have emailed Dict8 we could have typed an easier to understand task, especially if they then asked us to type it with lots of notes. I really don’t have the patience to go through leaving notes for every little thing that is undecipherable when someone hasn’t bothered to dictate properly or check their dictation.
