Hello Ladies - hopefully a new thread for you... @Carosel2 @Whitestar55 @Chrissols @danblack87 @flutterby18 @wfh21 @workingfromhomenow @cherryblossom114 @Lovemydaxie @homeworkmum and anyone else I have forgotten.

@Indiepops 😂😂😂

Cherryblossom114 · 27/01/2022 12:49

They should try typing it from scratch and see how quick they'd come off their high horse or 'ass' even 😠

Whitestar55 · 27/01/2022 13:35

How does the proofreading work with Tpro? Do they have proofreaders and do you have access to letters they might pull you up on?

Gally123 · 27/01/2022 13:57

@Whitestar55 TPRo have "Quality Control" - this works in two ways as far as I know/understand it. Firstly, if there is a word etc I do not understand I flag it up for QC and when I have finished the letter it does not get submitted to the doctor for checking but goes to QC for them to fill in the missing blanks. They then forward the letter onto the dictator. They do also run random checks on letters that we type. Feedback usually comes in the form of QC informing us of what the word was we did not know. If QC do not know the word, (perhaps due to poor dictation or background noise) it gets marked as "unclear" in the letter going forward.

@Gally123 Thanks. So the difference is that anything flagged (or in DICT8's case, noteboxed) goes to QC rather than straight to the dictator as it does with DICT8, unless of course intercepted by a DICT8 proofreader random check. Another difference seems to be that Tpro allow you access to the letters once typed and flagged and maybe you can also get on with typing other letters at the same time? With DICT8 I feel we are not trusted with such a system and most of it is a guessing game.

wfh21 · 27/01/2022 15:49

Dear god today is one of those head explosion days. I know we say it over and over but the dictation is so bad today for me. I brought myself a fibit the other day and my stress levels (so it says) are up, up, up !!!!

Cherryblossom114 · 28/01/2022 00:28

@wfh21...daily mantra "I need the Money"...🙂

wfh21 · 28/01/2022 11:12

@Cherryblossom114 afraid so !!!

Indiepops · 28/01/2022 14:19

I've taken a break from the mumblers for a bit!!!

danblack87 · 28/01/2022 15:11

@cherryblossom114 and @wfh21: I also get a particular Dr who says 'period' for full stop, but I am used to it now. I have never had anyone dictate semi-colon; I usually punctuate myself as often the sentences run on an on with no punctuation and then the sentence makes no sense at all!!

danblack87 · 28/01/2022 15:20

@Carosel2: I have taken to noting a task number - in my 'trusty' Dict8 note book - if I have been unsure but fairly confident I am correct then I can revert back to the record in case I get a mis-feedback Smile. Shouldn't have to I know but it is a back-up just in case all the same. I have not had feedback for a while .. then again (comma) I have been easing myself in this year so far!!!

danblack87 · 28/01/2022 15:35

I have had about 5 today where the dictation was so diabolical; they were only short ones so I used the 'notes box'; they didn't make any sense so (note: name unclear) - I typed what was spelt but absolutely ridiculous i.e. so like Louis (as I heard it could be Louis, or Lewey or Louey - dictator says "Spelt Luoeue with mmmm'ing and arr'ing) .. too impossible Sad.

Cherryblossom114 · 28/01/2022 19:32

Took some time out today to go get fish Friday discount from Waitrose Its a Friday thing which is good

Ironically had a semi colon yesterday..had a little chuckle. Don't get my period often &@#!!! But tell myself a little joke when I do .... 'hes on is period again' breaks up the monotony

I try to stick to the short ones but find they too can be at times just as problematic

Looks like we're on the same page I started documenting task when I first started - helps to free the mind ! but not so much now
Looking forward for tomorrow dictation deems less tensed but there are no guarantees
🤯
Have a good weekend..love u' all 💝

carosel2 · 28/01/2022 20:06

@danblack87 - yes I know what you mean, I used to list all my tasks when I first started but found it was taking too much time but certainly at times so wish they could send a copy of the letter that one has supposed to have really c...ked up! So it proves we have done it otherwise whats the point in the feedback as someone said earlier, it makes no sense if you cant refer to it in the letter. I hate the letters where you get a so called great dictator that lures you in with a couple of very fine queen's english sentences to start. Ive had one of them today, a 6 minute one which is a good lengthy letter for me. I was on a role and then 3/4 through, the doctor changed in to some sort of garbling dim wit that sounded as though hed had a few vodkas!! Missing starts of sentences etc. and making it impossible to try and second guess. They finished with a very clear "please do not hesitate to contact me if.. bla bla 😆😆😆😆. I wasn't laughing at the time! 🤪😠

Gally123 · 28/01/2022 20:24

@danblack87 - remembering the days when we used to get whole clinics and feeling pleased when managing to pick up a good dictator for what I thought was a nice clinic, of 12 or so letters, only for them to swap half way through with someone who I could not understand at all, Nightmare.

OP posts:
wfh21 · 29/01/2022 10:08

@carosel2 - laughed so much at this my sides are hurting 😂😂😂😂 That sinking feeling when you realise they have gone rogue - do you cancel the task ? plough on ? risk the wrath of the proof-reader ? fill up the note box ??? 🤣🤣🤣

danblack87 · 29/01/2022 10:24

@wfh21: I think on a weekend we deserve a break ... I would send it back!!

carosel2 · 29/01/2022 12:57

@wfh21 😂😂😂😂your post exactly read my mind but decided to cash in, id gone too far lol

danblack87 · 31/01/2022 08:41

Am I supposed to be a mind reader ????? - I thought we were supposed to type Hospital Number: ' xxxxxxxx'.

Feedback:
o Typed: Hospital Number: RTXxxxxxxx Should be: RTX: xxxxxxxx (RTX is the Trust 'name' for Hospital number)

Gally123 · 31/01/2022 08:58

@danblack87 - I had that a couple of weeks ago - another example of them changing the goalposts but not informing us and then giving us a slap on the wrist for our "ignorance."

The "old" instructions were for hospital or NHS number. For years I typed things like "BMIxxxx" and there was another one in Liverpool that started with an E. I just assume, as with previous "corrections" and changes that a new contract hospital has complained and wants their letters set out like this. Just waiting for the BMI hospitals to put in a counter complaint in the new layout.

OP posts:
danblack87 · 31/01/2022 09:04

@Gally123: I added it to my Dict8 note book. I have been typing Hospital Number: RTX xxxx for donkeys ages!!! No feedback before!! Time for a Biscuit and a cuppa.

Whitestar55 · 31/01/2022 10:23

I wonder if we should type 'Hospital Number: RTX: xxxxxxxxx'? Hospital number colon is 15 characters towards our line count pay pittance, plus the extra colon after RTX.

Gally123 · 31/01/2022 10:32

@Whitestar55 - no the feedback I had was very specific, not to type "Hospital number" only "RTX:xxxxxx"

OP posts:
danblack87 · 31/01/2022 10:36

@Whitestar55: If RTX xxxxxx is dictated then we shouldn't type Hospital Number: in front, same as for if MRN xxxxxxx is dictated apparently Hmm

Whitestar55 · 31/01/2022 10:51

@danblack Hi Dan, yes I know about the format, but it doesn't make sense to me. Sometimes a hospital number is dictated, number only, without the dictator saying 'hospital number' or anything else and we are expected to type 'Hospital Number' then lol As I said before, they make it up as they go along and we get told after the horse has bolted. The one size fits all letter template is a load of tosh. haha
