Try not to take it personally. I know sometimes they can come across as very patronising though!

Indiepops · 24/01/2022 14:44

Okay I'm clearly doing it all wrong - how do I reply to a specific comment that someone has made? Please be gentle I'm getting old!!

Whitestar55 · 24/01/2022 15:15

@Indiepops Have DICT8 picked up on it and told you off?

Indiepops · 24/01/2022 15:18

no not yet, I'm waiting for it! It just annoys me that they dictate a couple of words and then a long message for the notes box. I suspect that as I am earning them money too they won't say anything unless the customer complains.

Whitestar55 · 24/01/2022 16:50

That's a good point, it's money for DICT8 too.

wfh21 · 24/01/2022 18:02

Some very naff feedback today regarding a full-stop 🤣 Big world problem ay ??? !!!!

danblack87 · 25/01/2022 06:34

wfh21: One full stop wrong ... 'wow' ... LOL

danblack87 · 25/01/2022 06:36

Indiepops: do you mean to reply to a specific comment via e-mail?

wfh21 · 25/01/2022 08:56

@danblack87 - apparently the mumbled word dictated turned out to be "full-stop" and I missed it, shame on me 🤣 I wonder how long it took them to decipher this very important part of the letter. I do hope it didn't have an impact on the patient's treatment !!!!!!

Indiepops · 25/01/2022 09:18

@danblack87 no I meant like this on the forum - do I have to type @..... or do you use message poster bit?

danblack87 · 25/01/2022 09:24

@indiepops: I just type @ in front of the poster name

Indiepops · 25/01/2022 09:49

@danblack87: thank you

Indiepops · 25/01/2022 11:03

Why do they dictate incorrect spellings "scheem" - really!!

danblack87 · 25/01/2022 11:34

@indiepops: I had a couple this morning where words were spelt out incorrectly!!

Cherryblossom114 · 25/01/2022 16:24

@wfh21. are you supposed to remember thats what it means. I get one who says 'period'. Took me a while to undersand what he meant when I realised that he was saying it at the end of every sentence. Maybe they should all use the word 'period' 🙂

Gally123 · 25/01/2022 16:34

@Cherryblossom114 - no "period" is an Americanism and it should be "stop" or "full stop." "Period" causes confusion in gynaecology letters! Also I hate it when they dictate "colon" or "semi colon" as I am scratching my head as to how bowel problems relate to my letter....

OP posts:
Cherryblossom114 · 25/01/2022 18:32

@Gally123 Yep you're so right. I will scrap that idea ..

carosel2 · 25/01/2022 22:30

@Gally123 - Yes I agree in the "period" meaning. Perhaps we should type it out in full? If we get pulled up, we have a valid argument!!?

wfh21 · 26/01/2022 15:26

@Cherryblossom114 I left a note saying I couldn't hear what was said, turned out to be "full-stop" (not sure how they deciphered it maybe they made it up). Personally, if mistakes are made we should be able to go back and reference the task as what is the point of telling you weeks later ? and who knows the proof reader might not be correct !!!

Indiepops · 26/01/2022 16:49

@Cherryblossom114 - I've often thought the same, it's quite often a pointless exercise. I don't agree with being expected to correct the doctor either.

carosel2 · 26/01/2022 18:33

@wfh21 - yes I agree about being able to see tasks that are being criticised as the comments mean nothing when you cant reference the mistake. I was corrected on two letters once that made no sense to my specialities at all and dates given against them when I hadnt been working. I did question this and was told the date given isnt the date the letter is typed its the date its been checked by the proofreader and I had clearly typed the tasks and was given the task numbers which proved I had typed them as they were on my listing but like I said earlier there is no way I typed the letters as the terminology in the corrections were completely different to my specialities and would never have made any sense.

carosel2 · 26/01/2022 18:41

....following on from that I think they knew a mistake had been made and.just took two numbers off my task list (which I had typed) and said it was them but without being able to see them I couldn't argue anymore other than the terminolgy just didnt relate to the specialties I type.

Indiepops · 26/01/2022 18:53

@carosel2 I've given up responding to them. Read, take note if relevant and then move on, it's not worth getting upset about, you start to feel inadequate which is horrible

carosel2 · 26/01/2022 19:14

@indiepops - true they make you feel so stupid and then say its constructive criticism, so dont take.it personally lol. It does irritate but yes its best to ignore unless its is relevant and you can see and remember the wrong doing

Indiepops · 26/01/2022 20:37

@carosel2 which you never can so what's the point even reading some of it ha ha
