Is it just me or is it really warm at the moment for the time of year it is?

I’ve had to get the fan in from the garage!

I remember seeing daffodils in flower in Barnsley just before Christmas in 2015, then taking DD to a party in the evening on 19 December, and my car was reading 17 degrees.

@PlanetNormal that's right, many people do not watch weather forecasts. Lots of people don't even have terrestrial tv anymore and just watch things like Netflix, just like lots of people don't have thermostats. This thread has been a learning one.

Well I’m in Stockholm at moment so not hot! But maybe around 6 degrees, which is hot for here !!

People are odd. Do they not watch the weather forecast or do they not understand it?

I was out walking yesterday afternoon wearing a t shirt and a thin fleece and I was warm, yet almost everyone I saw was dressed for a polar expedition when the temperature here was 14c and it felt like mid-October. Crazy!

I don’t have a tv so no I don’t watch the forecast. I do sometimes check the bbc website though. Usually in December it’s safe to assume you need to wear a coat!

It’s my fault. I bought a new padded winter coat in the sales. Had I bought a light jacket, we would be in a blizzard right now.

don't need to feel terrified to do my bit ( vegan and electric car owner) . I prefer to do my bit but also enjoy a lovely mild day. I think people are whipping themselves into early graves through anxiety and stress over it all.

Have you watched The Trick? It's about climate change - the main scientist mentions climate collapse - how anyone can go around thinking this weather is lovely is utterly beyond me. It's honestly terrifying how warm it is and if you're not very worried then you really don't understand how serious it is.

I don't agree to live with the level of fear that you have deemed appropriate. This does not mean I do not understand how serious it is. I've just chosen a different perspective. Go outside for a walk, do some travelling (yes on a plane) and try to see how wonderful the world actually is. Obsessively watching documentaries and wallowing in fear is not how i choose to live my life. Our children are growing up full of anxiety and fear. You can still care about the planet without the constant feeling of dread. It's a choice.

My honeysuckle started blooming in November, and my rose bushes were still blooming at Christmas. Confused

I've got accuview on my phone only the area where I live. As it was raining this morning,it said it was dry and sunny,no it wasn't. I have an in/out digital thermometer, because of the plants I grow. Rarely are the weather forecasts accurate. I look at the temperature gauge,and go outside

Maybe the planet is fucked but that’s not down to me. I’m a child of the 70’s and grew up in houses that were freezing, everything second hand and picnics were boiled eggs and lettuce not 3 for £7 imported halfway across the world fancy snacks.

Moan at over consumption and politics not the person enjoying being able to get out and garden. Being sanctimonious will get you no where. Enjoy the 20 years we have left.

Seriously though, the sanctimonious shit on this post from a few posters is vomit-inducing. We all know the planet is warming up, and we are in trouble, and many people are working hard/doing their bit to help. God forbid we all have a bit of banter, and a laugh, to lighten the (miserable dark) mood!

Also, you can bet that many of the virtue-signalling bores on here, do things that are 'offensive' towards the environment, as much as the people they are 'scolding,' so they can jog on.

I’m in TX and we are going to get a high of 28 today. Similar tomorrow. It’s breaking all sorts of records for December. However on Sunday it’ll be 1/16 and Monday -1/12 🤔 we have such weird weather here.

A friend was posting on social media saying how lovely the weather was, like spring. It’s the end of December, it’s not “lovely , it’s bloody terrifying that it’s like spring. In fact I dread to think how hot spring will be. And it’s happening so fast!

It was 16 degrees today. 16!!!

I agree. Obviously it's nice to not have to put the heating on, but it's a bonkers temperature for mid winter/end of December. Should be less than 5° C. Have to say, I love the snow and frost in winter, and this weather should be in April, not December.

Gonna be colder next week though. Down to minus 3°C overnight, and plus 2° or 3°C in the day. (In the midlands anyway.)

Summer was miserably hot. Was so happy to see the back of it. Yet was too warm in bed last night and had windows open this morning downstairs when hoovering. Need some winter !
