Eating our 10-a-day thread (2)

Breathmiller · 28/12/2021 22:51

Hi all

This is our second thread about upping our veg and fruit intake on a daily basis.

We tend to list what we've had to keep us accoubtable and generally chat about how to increase the rainbow on our plate.

We don't always make 10 but anything more than you would normally is great. I like to at least get 5. 10 or even sometimes more is a great day.

All welcome whatever reasons.

  1. Banana
  2. Satsumas
  3. Avocado
  4. Onion
  5. Tomato/garlic/ginger

Lots of herbs and spices used in chicken curry. Had no time (or energy) to make a salad today.

Breathmiller · 05/03/2022 12:06

I thought yesterday was a bit poor but when I added it up it wasn't so bad after all. I think it's kind of naturally ingrained now.

  1. Dates
  2. Tomatoes
  3. Avocado
  4. Olives
  5. Mushrooms
  6. Artichokes
Half an onion

  2. Mushrooms
  3. Courgette
  4. Onion
  5. Tomatoes
  6. Rocket
  7. Blueberries
  8. Raspberries
  9. Fig

Yesterdays list -

  1. Mixed leaves
  2. Red cabbage
  3. Cucumber
  4. Half tomato/spring onions
  5. Sweetcorn/half carrot
  6. Banana
  7. Mixed berries

Think the rocket, kale and red cabbage I had yesterday was a little too much and left me very bloated so going easy today.

Breathmiller · 22/03/2022 08:03

Helloooo plantsandpuddlesuits

I had a break then came back but felt I was talking to myself so stopped. Happy for it to be something that people dip into now and again.

These threads have massively changed my mind set though and even when I'm not logging it I have definitely upped my intake.

Trying to remember yesterday now...

1.Dates

  1. Raisins
  2. Strawberries
  3. Green juice
  4. Tomatoes
  5. Olives (small portion)
  6. Chickpeas
  7. Mushrooms
  8. Pear
10. Rocket

Quite chuffed as that was with no real effort so it's obviously getting in there naturally.

I have also cut out sugar this month and that has made a massive difference to what I eat and how I feel. I still eat fruit though as you can see. Yesterday was particularly fruit heavy. But fruit now has become my sweet treat

Hi everyone, I'd love to join you, if I may?

Breathmiller · 22/03/2022 08:21

Welcome cheapskatemum

Absolutely join. I find it helps keep me accountable even if I'm not posting every day.

Thanks @Breathmiller I'm also trying to cut down on the sugar or at least have more mindful sugar choices. For sweet cravings I'm really enjoying the deliciously Ella nut butter chocolate cup things. Dark chocolate so really satisfying and almond butter is good fats.

I tried to make the deliciously Ella avacodo mousse a few weeks ago but only had cacoa nibs which my blender couldn't blend properly but have now bought cacoa powder so will try again. Might be good if you like dates. Can post recipe if you like? I also like dates especially medjool ones.

Yesterday....
Blueberriees
Raspberries

Soffrito mix in leftover shepherd pie
Carrots
Sprouts
Tangerines

Olives
Peas
Aubergines
Tinned tomatoes

Todays plan...
Blueberriees
Raspberries

Butternut squash
Mushrooms
Spinach
Cherry tomatoes

Spinach again
Cucumber
Rocket
Tinned tomatoes
Cauliflower (as cauliflower rice)

Breathmiller · 22/03/2022 13:51

Oooh yes please to the recipe. I love dates. Have them every morning with a few nuts for breakfast with my coffee.

I love the Deliciously Ella nut bites. Especially the hazelnut ones. I'm also enjoying naked bars. Which after 22 days of no sugar they seem more than sweet enough.

Your list is great.

Well done kindtomyself

Do you know you can also count lentils and chickpeas and beans?

I haven't kept note the last few days as I've been very busy but I am aware that I eat more naturally. Far more likely to reach for something out the fruit bowl these days as a snack.

Kindtomyself · 29/03/2022 08:33

I didn't know @Breathmiller that's good to know. That's an extra 2 for Saturday Grin. Making me think more about what I'm eating so all good

Plantsandpuddlesuits · 29/03/2022 09:59

Do sweet potatoes count please? Planning a Jacket potato for lunch but may switch it out to a healthier (I think!). sweet potato
