Bomb squad called after man had explosive shell stuck in rectum

Without looking at the article, I knew immediately the excuse would be “tripped and fell”

Amazing how many people seem to trip and fall whilst naked and get things stuck up their arse Grin

@Echobelly

Honestly, it would be more of a headline if 'Man comes into hospital with object stuck up his bum and admits he wanted to see if he'd get off on it'.

We had a little bomb like that at home (Granddad was bomb disposal so we had a few shells and things at home). So the story did catch my eye.

I rang up my sister “remember that old shell we had on the landing?” then I was laughing so much I had to send her a link to the story. It was the ‘we had to call bomb disposal’ that finished me off.

She has a friend who worked in a&e and apparently they ALL fall when naked (all men too). Worst was a lightbulb (very tricky because thin glass...)

DaylightSunlight · 04/12/2021 17:38

@Sienna2000 You'd think they'd be more careful and watch out for the hoover nozzle or the deodorant can.Wink😅

I'd believe you if you said you accidentally sat on an ear pod. Easy mistake.Grin

nancybotwinbloom · 04/12/2021 17:38

@DaylightSunlight

I wonder why odd and dangerous objects though? Why not use sex toys or is that just too easy/simple for them? Then wasting everyone's time afterwards Hmm

arsenal
🤣

I wonder this too. I mean shall I go to love honey and get next day delivery or pop to Ann summers or shall I just go with sticking this handy mortar shell up my arse?

The mind boggles.

dickiedavisthunderthighs · 04/12/2021 17:39

Bum squad.

Triphazards · 04/12/2021 17:40

Wasn't it a mark of honour for the Spartans that all their wounds were on their front, because they never ran away.

Definitely no enemy ordnance in their bum.

DaylightSunlight · 04/12/2021 17:42

@nancybotwinbloom 😂

It does indeed.

Haha. I sat down but luckily not naked

HoardingSamphireSaurus · 04/12/2021 17:44

@KittenCatcher

No one believes the tripped a fell story anymore but its pretty grim reporting this, he was a patient and its not really to be laughed at.
They had to explain the fuss at the hospital somehow. It wasn't hospital staff who gave the original explanation... Bomb squad might have done that.
Fuuuuuckit · 04/12/2021 18:14

I believe one of the NICE guidelines for such rectal incidents is to ask the patient to snap and fart Grin

MichelleScarn · 04/12/2021 18:17

@SpittinKitten

"Rectum? It nearly killed 'im!"

(Apologies, that was one of my dad's jokes)

Far to funny!Grin
MichelleScarn · 04/12/2021 18:18

Too funny obvs!

coogee · 04/12/2021 18:22

Bomb squad might have done that.

Don’t you mean the bum squad?

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 04/12/2021 18:28

It seems like the old claim that 'they don't like it up 'em' wasn't correct after all!

At the end of that linked news article, it said 'For more stories from where you live, visit InYourArea' and I genuinely misread 'area' for something else Grin

A medical friend once told me about 'Biroman' - the gentleman who turned up at A&E and had to have extensive surgery (with limited success) after (somehow) sticking a ball-point pen all the way up his urethra. Come up with a convincing innocent explanation for that and you really should be instantly given the top job at the UN but forced to have a secretary to look after all your pens for you Grin

Triphazards · 04/12/2021 18:40

God knows howitzer up there!

EveningOverRooftops · 04/12/2021 18:46

@Soubriquet

I wonder if nurses and doctors have in their staff room a tally of what items have been stuck up ones backside and the excuse of tripped and fell
Yes.

Friend’s work place had an innocuous list of items vegetables were common apparently.

Weeteeny · 04/12/2021 18:46

Round the dinner table one night when I was about 13 my Dad (who was a doctor) when asked by my mum how his day was ,responded.... well , Fiona, today I had a gentleman appear in the surgery with a dust buster vacuum stuck up his arse.

Dinner time chat was always interesting at our house.

Hawkins001 · 04/12/2021 18:50

@ComDummings

Seriously why do some humans, usually males actually, have an obsession with sticking things up their arses? Grim!
From my experience, it's the kinky side of trying something fresh, at least till the novelty, wears off, that's my understanding.
WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 04/12/2021 19:00

My medical friend told me of a patient with a tetrapak carton of vegetable soup up there. Somebody clearly never had one of those 'hammer the blocks through the right shape holes' toys as a toddler!

AlfonsoTheUnrepentant · 04/12/2021 19:03

Oww. My eyes are watering.

Northernlurker · 04/12/2021 19:05

It's not always easy to get it out either. Even without the explosive complication here.
Theatres, endoscopy, they all get in on the act.
I know of one case where three ED staff in progressive order of seniority had a go then three surgical doctors also ditto and they STILL had to go to Theatre. I mean, guys, seriously just go for a nice walk in the countryside instead. The bottom is nature's lobster pot, easily in....not easily out.
