Fucking dogs!

Dogscanteatonions · 17/11/2021 20:41

I am so fucking done with dogs

I am sick of being jumped all over by dogs when I'm out running. I always slow to a walk when a dog approaches, I stand still if they seem aggressive. I have lost count of how many dogs that have jumped up on me and have made me muddy, left scratches from their nails on my arms and thighs
or ripped/pulled my clothing. I'm actually very lucky never to have been bitten.
.
I am so fucking fed up of avoiding piles of dog shit - on some of the routes I run or walk I can count up to a dozen piles just left on the path.

I am so fucking fed up of my neighbour's dogs barking. I can't complain as they are the kind of people who will make my life hell but on the regular occasions they are out they bark CONSTANTLY. Sometimes all night long.

I am fed up of having to pass a neighbour's house where they let their dog shit in the front garden and don't clear out for days and days. I walk past daily and it stinks to high heaven.

I am fucking fed up of dogs in cafes, pubs and restaurants. I, like many people are allergic and it leaves me sneezing for hours and hours. One pub we were in you literally had to clamber over 6 dogs to get to the bar.

Now today on here there are loads of people saying they think it's ok to put their dog shit in someone else's bin.

This is even without the terrible dog attacks that happen.

I know this will rile entitled dog owners but seriously has anyone else just fucking had enough?

(Ps my current username came from a thread where a poster's dinner of cottage pie had been given to the dog where everyone piled on to say dogs can't eat onions. I don't have a dog 🤣)

Dogs are fabulous. I adore them. Dog owners however, who let their dogs leap all over joggers, crap randomly all over the place without cleaning up, or bark constantly, are tossers. However, you lost me with the dogs in the pub comment. The vast majority of cafes/pubs/restaurants don’t allow dogs so pick one of those!

XenoBitch · 17/11/2021 22:23

@whataboutbob

I also feel so many businesses now have to advertise themselves as “dog friendly” because they need the trade. Result, non dog owners have to stoically put up with the barking, smelling, being sniffed in the groin, leg being humped ( yep it’s happened to me) etc.
Or the rise in dog thefts mean people don't want to tie their dog to a lamppost outside a shop, or leave them in the car.
FlissMumsnet · 17/11/2021 22:24

We've had some reports from users with assistance dogs and they wanted us to remind everyone how vital these dogs are for their lives.

MidgeKiller1 · 17/11/2021 22:25

YANBU. I’m with you, so many entitled dog owners who let their dogs bark aggressively at you, jump on you, etc. Even with your children they’ll say “oh they won’t hurt”, I don’t give a fuck! Get your dogs away from my children and on leads! Every dog has the capacity to attack, if you want to let your dog lick your face and lips after licking its arsehole, go for it but keep it away from me. As for a certain posh Department store allowing dogs in its store, fucking stupid is what it is.

@Gilly12345

I am fed up of dogs 🐶 too they are everywhere.

You even take a UK holiday and all you see are people with their dogs.

Love me love my dog.

We only holiday in the UK so we can take our dog. Like many many others. The dog normally enjoys the holiday more than the kids!
ripples101 · 17/11/2021 22:26

@Feelingofftoday

Haha.

That’s the point. Dogs won’t care about shitting anywhere, or barking, or being a nuisance because some random is moaning about it on the internet either.

Your reply to me is just plain daft.

I’m not being precious by pointing out that it’s dog owners who can stop these issues that are annoying the OP.

BoredZelda · 17/11/2021 22:26

I’m going to assume these aren’t the ones barking all day and jumping up on runners.

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 17/11/2021 22:26

@nellyburt

It’s the dogs treated like babies that get me. I’m allergic so I’m not going to fawn over your precious dog sat next to me in the bloody pub.
Do people expect you too? I take my dog to the pub all the time and he happily lies under the table with his chew or sleeps. He only emerges when someone offers him a pork scratching

With the notable exception of assistance or working dogs, no one should be getting dogs in this time of climate emergency. They have a high carbon footprint and are a luxury the planet cannot afford.

That's one of the only reasons I'd holiday in the uk, so I can take the dog, pretty sure I'm not the only one.

No one should be having kids either.
WorryMcGee · 17/11/2021 22:31

I have two dogs. I love well-trained, “proper” dogs. There are far too many untrained, fashionable, often small (which is why owners don’t think they need to train them) nightmare dogs running around, jumping on people and shitting everywhere. I can’t imagine how it must feel if you are allergic or scared of dogs.

tearinghairout · 17/11/2021 22:31

Having your neighbours' dog barking all night must be hell. Yep, it's the owners. It's incredibly selfish. So YANBU about that, and people letting their dogs jump up, etc.

My dog is a little happy soul and when I get up in the morning I can't wait to greet him bc he is such a joy. He communicates with
me. So YABU about dogs - the world would be a better place if we all had dogs' loyalty and positive outlook.

So what happens to them then? People keep saying this and its all well and good but how?
userxx · 17/11/2021 22:31

@XenoBitch Yup.

Why do threads about dogs always turn into a children/dogs equivalency? This is a thread about dogs, it’s very clear from the title and OP. Perhaps go back and read it again.

BlueTouchPaper · 17/11/2021 22:32

I don't know why people have them they're such a fucking nuisance in so many different ways

Amen. Next door's big black Labrador got out of their garden and into mine via the back field. Stood barking at me as I sat on a bench. Was peeling spuds so I lobbed a couple of massive ones. Second one hit it on the arse. I was pretty close to the back door so felt quite brave. Noisy git that it is can fuck off.

Sally090807 · 17/11/2021 22:32

I agree with what you’re saying about dogs in restaurants as I was out the other day about to tuck in to some tasty lunch when a dog that was sat close to me was sick three times. The first was a humongous pile of vomit, the second a watered down version and the 3rd pile was mostly liquid. Absolutely revolting and completely put me off my lunch. I also agree about dogs shit, barking dogs and dogs leaping up at you when you’re out walking/jogging.

Ezydoesit · 17/11/2021 22:32

I am non-plussed about dogs but it annoys me that people don’t keep them on a short lead and I wish there was a way of getting rid of them easily when they come bounding over.

I think councils need to do more. More rules, more signs and more enforcing. I think a dog tax would be an effective way to pay for this. There needs to be a system change. At the moment, owners do what they want because they don’t see a reason not to.

ChrissyPlummer · 17/11/2021 22:33

YABU. My DDog and DH are my absolute world. He is never allowed off the lead and we always pick poo up. I fail to see why it’s any of your business whether someone lets THEIR dog shit in THEIR garden. As long as it’s not impacting directly on me, I couldn’t give a fuck what other people do with their property.

What I find annoying is the neighbours kids who think it’s acceptable to play on my front garden and driveway.

NeverBeenNormal · 17/11/2021 22:34

@Kikkomam

I've had dogs for 40 years. I've never seen them "jump all over' someone, shit everywhere, slobber, steal food in restaurants, bark incessantly. A lot of mumsnetters are over dramatic and totally neurotic.
Well, you are very fortunate because it happens a lot.
JetBlackSteed · 17/11/2021 22:34

@Bingbong21

Bad owners are rife post lockdown.

My 6 mo pup jumped on a jogger a few weeks back, was mortified so went back on the lead to rebuild to being off. If I see a jogger coming he goes straight back on and I make sure to pick routes I know I would see a jogger with plenty of time. Will gradually start long lining him with joggers to train him reliably.

Point is that yes these things do sometimes happen but as a responsible owner it should never be allowed to happen again.

Gradually start long lining training on a path you know is shared with runners? Long lines are worse. You'll cause the runner to fall causing injury. If experience is anything to go by, you'll not even notice. The dog is friendly, runs across or around the runner. The runner comes home with bleeding cuts and scrapes and torn clothing, and the dog walker is oblivious.
MLMshouldbeillegal · 17/11/2021 22:34

It's fine to think your digs are amazing and the best thing since sliced bread. Your choice.

What's not fair is to inflict your animals on everyone else. We don't have to like them. We're allowed to actively dislike them. Alll we're asking you to do us keep your animals to yourself.
