Fucking dogs!

I am so fucking done with dogs

I am sick of being jumped all over by dogs when I'm out running. I always slow to a walk when a dog approaches, I stand still if they seem aggressive. I have lost count of how many dogs that have jumped up on me and have made me muddy, left scratches from their nails on my arms and thighs
or ripped/pulled my clothing. I'm actually very lucky never to have been bitten.
.
I am so fucking fed up of avoiding piles of dog shit - on some of the routes I run or walk I can count up to a dozen piles just left on the path.

I am so fucking fed up of my neighbour's dogs barking. I can't complain as they are the kind of people who will make my life hell but on the regular occasions they are out they bark CONSTANTLY. Sometimes all night long.

I am fed up of having to pass a neighbour's house where they let their dog shit in the front garden and don't clear out for days and days. I walk past daily and it stinks to high heaven.

I am fucking fed up of dogs in cafes, pubs and restaurants. I, like many people are allergic and it leaves me sneezing for hours and hours. One pub we were in you literally had to clamber over 6 dogs to get to the bar.

Now today on here there are loads of people saying they think it's ok to put their dog shit in someone else's bin.

This is even without the terrible dog attacks that happen.

I know this will rile entitled dog owners but seriously has anyone else just fucking had enough?

(Ps my current username came from a thread where a poster's dinner of cottage pie had been given to the dog where everyone piled on to say dogs can't eat onions. I don't have a dog 🤣)

Oh god you've reminded me of how, when I lived in London, EVERY SINGLE TIME I went to the common either me or my child would step in dog shit AngryAngryEnvyEnvy don't think anyone in the vicinity knew what a poo bag was ffs.

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 17/11/2021 22:36

@MLMshouldbeillegal

It's fine to think your digs are amazing and the best thing since sliced bread. Your choice.

What's not fair is to inflict your animals on everyone else. We don't have to like them. We're allowed to actively dislike them. Alll we're asking you to do us keep your animals to yourself.

I don't know who this is to but good dog owners do this.
TunnelOfGoats · 17/11/2021 22:36

I can't stand dogs at all, but it is the awful owners that are responsible for all of the things that dogs are doing wrong

StoneofDestiny · 17/11/2021 22:37

Guide or Assistance Dogs do jump up all over you, bark endlessly or shift all over the pavements. The standard these dogs are trained to is not the standard the average dog is trained to.

My dog doesn't do any of those things
MsTSwift · 17/11/2021 22:40

Pretty indifferent unless they bother me. I think these issues are caused by the sheer numbers of dog households. It used to be a minority that had dogs now anecdotally most families I know have one now which wasn’t the case when I grew up and I grew up in a village and now live in a city!

NeverBeenNormal · 17/11/2021 22:40

@Ezydoesit

I am non-plussed about dogs but it annoys me that people don’t keep them on a short lead and I wish there was a way of getting rid of them easily when they come bounding over.

I think councils need to do more. More rules, more signs and more enforcing. I think a dog tax would be an effective way to pay for this. There needs to be a system change. At the moment, owners do what they want because they don’t see a reason not to.

Some councils do have Neighbourhood Officers who have powers to issue statutory fines. A constantly barking dog can constitute a nuisance and the owners fined. Much more difficult to police out-of-control dogs in public parks.

An off-lead dog worrying livestock can be shot by the farmer. Legally.

Scottishskifun · 17/11/2021 22:41

You sound delightful OP!

Maybe in future pick places where dogs aren't allowed, no dog restaurants or pubs (there is plenty) and spend leisure time in places they aren't allowed. Plenty available.

DH goes out running regularly he's never been jumped on by a random dog. We have a dog who occasionally goes running with him again she doesn't jump at anyone.

hotmeatymilk · 17/11/2021 22:43

Where? There are no dog-free parks that I’ve found, or dog-free places to walk, or dog-free neighbourhoods.

SimpsonsXmasBoogie · 17/11/2021 22:44

I adore dogs, and cats. I just can't stand people who don't take responsibility for their own pets. They fuck it up for everyone else and turn their pets into a huge problem for the rest of the world, when they really don't need to be. It's all very sad.

mildredhubble48 · 17/11/2021 22:46

Dogs are entitled to be in parks just like you are. Yes they should be kept on leads and not bothering other dogs or people but you have no more right to be there than a dog/dog owner.

Get over yourself.

NanaPorsche · 17/11/2021 22:47

@whataboutbob

I have never ever cleaned dog shite off of anyone's shoes.

I take my older granddaughter to school several times a week - there's a bit of pavement about 100 yds long on the way there (no path the other side of the road) and we have to walk on the road because it's obvious the same dog is crapping there every day.

My son's shoes we're magnetically attracted to turds when I was taking him to school 25 yrs ago. The school used to ring me to tell me to come and clean his shoes as he'd walked shite into class - never happened.

Any shoes, including my own, which are shite encrusted are wrapped in newspaper and I wait for my husband to deal with them. I cannot tolerate the acrid, vile stench at any cost. I'd rather buy new shoes if nobody cleaned them.

There is no need for this to exist (dog shite in public places) as owners should foul their own property and not property used by the general public.

Yes - I regularly see a group of about six dog owners (bitching and gossiping) on a winding path through a small copse which leads towards town. They all have massive dogs in common and they have absolutely no idea where their dogs are squatting and crapping because they're far too busy telling tales about 'nuisance neighbours' - oh the irony. (Yes, I earwig as I negotiate my way past them as they are always blocking the path and don't like to move out of the way on to the grass as it's always covered in dog shite.)

ohthestruggles · 17/11/2021 22:47

My dog would love to chase you down for belly rubs.

Kikkomam · 17/11/2021 22:50

Some of these anti dog posts are insane 🤣🤣

Claudia84 · 17/11/2021 22:50

🤣🤣🤣 Honestly where is this place that has a pack of crazy dogs that just live for jumping out on unsuspecting citizens and slobbering all of them when they're minding their own business.

QuiteQuaint · 17/11/2021 22:50

No they don't.
JayDot500 · 17/11/2021 22:51

Can't stand em 95% of the time. The other 5% is for when I take my toddler out for a walk in park. The dogs tolerate him and their owners all engage so beautifully with him (he's a bit of a dog fanboy, I am training him not to approach/touch the poor dogs).

XenoBitch · 17/11/2021 22:52

Yes, lets shut all public loos too, as humans can do all their business on their own property. When you got to go, you got to go. The same goes for animals. Not sure how I could stop my dog scent marking either.

Artus · 17/11/2021 22:52

Point me to the dog free parks, I'd love that. See also pubs and restaurants. I hate having to pretend I don't mind stepping over someone's slobbering hound to get to my table. But the world seems to revolve round the fur babies these days.

gogohm · 17/11/2021 22:54

Owners not dogs are the problem. I can go weeks between seeing dog mess (fox however is common!) trained dogs don't jump up though I admit my dog does love a pub trip, he tries to drag me in every day even at 8am!

Ticksallboxes · 17/11/2021 22:55

All my life I've loved dogs, but we live in an apartment that doesn't allow them.

However, we look over a park and over the last five years I wake up to see, in my first hour, about ten dogs pooing in front of where we live.

It's really put me off them now unfortunately as whenever I see a really lovely looking dog I just think how long until its next sh*t!

A lot of those dogs also look really humiliated pooing in public, which makes me wonder if they would actually rather be tactfully led over to secluded bushes to do it - why don't dog owners do this?

Norugratsatall · 17/11/2021 22:55

YANBU OP. I have never understood the dog love thing.

He's also a nip screw and would always clean them as he knew I would buy new shoes to replace them fairly quickly. 😬
