Fucking dogs!

Dogscanteatonions · 17/11/2021 20:41

I am so fucking done with dogs

I am sick of being jumped all over by dogs when I'm out running. I always slow to a walk when a dog approaches, I stand still if they seem aggressive. I have lost count of how many dogs that have jumped up on me and have made me muddy, left scratches from their nails on my arms and thighs
or ripped/pulled my clothing. I'm actually very lucky never to have been bitten.
.
I am so fucking fed up of avoiding piles of dog shit - on some of the routes I run or walk I can count up to a dozen piles just left on the path.

I am so fucking fed up of my neighbour's dogs barking. I can't complain as they are the kind of people who will make my life hell but on the regular occasions they are out they bark CONSTANTLY. Sometimes all night long.

I am fed up of having to pass a neighbour's house where they let their dog shit in the front garden and don't clear out for days and days. I walk past daily and it stinks to high heaven.

I am fucking fed up of dogs in cafes, pubs and restaurants. I, like many people are allergic and it leaves me sneezing for hours and hours. One pub we were in you literally had to clamber over 6 dogs to get to the bar.

Now today on here there are loads of people saying they think it's ok to put their dog shit in someone else's bin.

This is even without the terrible dog attacks that happen.

I know this will rile entitled dog owners but seriously has anyone else just fucking had enough?

(Ps my current username came from a thread where a poster's dinner of cottage pie had been given to the dog where everyone piled on to say dogs can't eat onions. I don't have a dog 🤣)

I love dogs and cats too, although at times with dogs they are like ninjas, especially when going to a door and they jump at it, one time I had to back away slowly as during my duties I walked into a garden and a dog came running out, so just backed away slowly saying good doggy, ect, overall is say they are mostly friendly or over excited.

XenoBitch · 17/11/2021 22:07

@Thinking2041

I don’t know how we aren’t strictier on dogs shutting everywhere I watched a dog do a huge wet poo near me and my daughter in the park. The owner tried to pick it up, but of course picking something up doesn’t clean the area. It’s still got excrement on it. I just wish someone would invent a dog nappy or force owners to use dog toilets or something. It’s just grim
It is the ground outside. It is never going to be clean, ever.
Carrotca · 17/11/2021 22:08

Yes 100% agree with you. Fed up of walking my child to school with baby sibling in the pram and both school shoes and pram being covered in dog shit. The path is thin and its a busy road so no way round it!! Yes I don't want smelly dogs near me when I'm in a cafe. Not long ago we were sitting in a cafe and a dog kept coming right over to us and eating the food my child dropped (I normally pick it up Don't worry) people are so entitled so like everyone is saying it is really the owners who are shit but it's still frustrating x

nellyburt · 17/11/2021 22:09

It’s the dogs treated like babies that get me. I’m allergic so I’m not going to fawn over your precious dog sat next to me in the bloody pub.

NanaPorsche · 17/11/2021 22:09

Was walking with family last weekend and a dog ran up to the pushchair and would've pissed on it had my husband not moved backwards quick enough.

KEEP DOGS ON LEADS WHEN OTHERS ARE ABOUT. Don't assume everyone will think your animal is 'nice'.

Same dog then jumped up at granddaughter (19 months) and knocked her over - owner didn't even apologise, just hurried off calling the dog. Granddaughter was distraught.

Dog waste full width of pavements, even in town centres. Why take dogs into town centres? Not good when there's a pushchair to accommodate inside the house when you've tried your best to avoid fly blown dog shite and massively long streams of piss.

Dogs should not be taken out in public anywhere until they've been trained to shite and piss on their own property - the norm when I was young. Barbara Woodhouse publicised how easy it is to train dogs to do this on command. My mum never took her dog out until it had 'done its business'. She never let it off lead if there were other people about.

It's disgusting that dog owners think that public property is the place to 'toilet' their animals.

Who on this earth likes negotiating streams of piss and heaps of shite whilst out and about simply going about their day?

It's a more serious problem where my daughter lives - every other lamp post has laminated posters of the eye problems this can cause. This approach of trying to make dog owners more aware of the dangers obviously doesn't work. There is hardly a spot to confidently place your foot on the pavement as there are so many 'piles' in every state of decay. This is in the most desirable place to live around here - unbelievably selfish and sheer bloody entitlement.

Cannot even think about allowing granddaughter to walk/run freely between swing and slide in the park because of the ignorance and laziness of bloody dog owners. There's nowhere to go to be able to relax and enjoy 'being outside' because every where you look - bloody shite all over. Our most frequently played game when outside? - 'leaf or turd', sad indictment of a generation of dirty, lazy dog people.

Tried to go for a picnic on a riverside and could not find a patch of grass big enough to place a picnic rug. The prevailing aroma wasn't from the countryside - it was from sun baked turds. Picnic in the car then home.

Dog owners have spoiled everywhere.

hotmeatymilk · 17/11/2021 22:10

It is the ground outside. It is never going to be clean, ever.
Toddlers rolling in mud, picking up leaves, playing on grass: not clean but fine. Dirt doesn’t hurt. Toddler touching dog shit: fucking horrendous with massive health implications. Our local park is a fucking toilet.

mildredhubble48 · 17/11/2021 22:10

@Thinking2041 is this a serious post? You think dogs should wear nappies or visit doggy toilets? You are batshit crazy.

What about all of the other birds and wild animals shitting on pavements/grass? What about humans who spit chewing gum and phlegm onto them?

Some people are utterly bizarre.

Chesneyhawkes1 · 17/11/2021 22:12

@imamearcat me neither. I run 5 times a week and never been chased, knocked over, scratched etc.

I think it's because they know we like them.

Also I don't slow down or walk past a dog when I'm running. Just carry on as usual

Poppydoppy18 · 17/11/2021 22:13

As with any animal, the humans who handle them are the problem.

Cydonia · 17/11/2021 22:13

YANBU. I was wondering when someone would complain about this! For the record, I love dogs, I have one and I work with animals. Dog poo issues aside ( I would never put my poo bag in someone’s bin, gross and rude! ) they are everywhere, and I often wonder how non dog lovers feel about it. Many people are allergic, frightened or just don’t like them and I do feel sorry for them that they seem to be unavoidable. We went to Cornwall in summer, but the dog went to kennels as I don’t think they need to go absolutely everywhere with their owners. I’m pretty sure our dog was happier running round and playing with other dogs than being dragged round the crowded streets of Padstow and made to sit still under cafe tables.

JackieWeaverHandforthCouncil · 17/11/2021 22:13

I feel for you OP, you must live in a really bad area. I wouldn’t like to live in such a place as you describe. Is it possible for you to move?

You also sound incredibly stressed. Are you sure it’s the dogs that have driven you to this point or is it the straw that broke the camels back? It’s not healthy to be this angry all of the time. Is there anyone you can speak to in real life?

MondayYogurt · 17/11/2021 22:14

Street down to the park is paved with poo. I feel for the kids cycling through it as it's on the way to several schools.

hotmeatymilk · 17/11/2021 22:14

How is a designated dog toilet area – or, you know, dogs shit on their owner’s property and they deal with it – more batshit than the current status quo of dogs shit absolutely everywhere, parks and pavements and footpaths (“ooh, but I flick it in the hedge” – grim). It’s bizarre that pavements and public areas of grass are seen as fair game for your animals to defecate.

whataboutbob · 17/11/2021 22:14

It’s all very well saying it’s not dogs it’s the owners, but the millions of dogs in the U.K. have to open their bowels daily and that ends up either on the ground or in landfill. Do the maths. It’s not great. There’s too many dogs. @NanaPorsche we’ve all had the experience of scrubbing dog shit off our kids’ shoes, it’s the pits. All owners say they pick up. How often have you seen an owner walking along, while their dog, out of sight behind them, opens their bowels? Me, plenty of times.

Timeisavirtue · 17/11/2021 22:15

I love dogs and I’m a dog owner but I know what you mean, it’s the owners not the dogs though. I’m sick to death of some dog owners thinking that they are above and beyond because they think thier dogs are friendly... not all people get along so it stands to reason not all dogs will. I’m fed up with the countless times dogs have come up to my dog who I keep on a lead because she’s unpredictable with other dogs due to being attacked years ago. All I get is attitude. She is super friendly with people and I always hold her close when someone walks by, I never let her jump at people. I’m sorry you feel this way.... but I understand your fraustration.

MiniPumpkin · 17/11/2021 22:15

Never been a dog fan.. to be a total misery … it’s because they smell , make mess and so on. What’s worse is people who say those who don’t like dogs are awful people and shouldn’t be trusted and so on.. boring !

XenoBitch · 17/11/2021 22:15

If I go on holiday, it is a caravan one in the UK with my dog. She is my family, and she loves to run on the beach and in and out the sea. It makes her happy, and it lifts my spirits to see her enjoy herself so much. Or, I can leave her in kennels where she wont eat and gets very stressed, and I end up worrying about her instead of having a nice time away.
whataboutbob · 17/11/2021 22:16

As many of the posts on here demonstrate, it seems being a dog owner means you develop a great big blind spot about canines’ less attractive habits.

Olddognewtrick · 17/11/2021 22:17

Now imagine if I let my kids jump on people and told them: “they’re only little and want to play!”

I have a cute dog. This apparently translates into him being some sort of toy for children to pet. He’s actually really scared of children, and it’s shocking how shit some parents are. Today a man was encouraging his toddler to “go and see the doggy” while my daughter walked away with the dog saying, no please don’t, he doesn’t like children. The other day my other daughter was walking him and was chased along a pavement by a main road by a 3 year old.

I give these examples just to add to the argument that it’s people who are the fucking arseholes. Not small children or dogs who have never been taught any differently. Everything you describe is really, really annoying, but totally avoidable if humans could just be a bit bloody better.

whataboutbob · 17/11/2021 22:19

I also feel so many businesses now have to advertise themselves as “dog friendly” because they need the trade. Result, non dog owners have to stoically put up with the barking, smelling, being sniffed in the groin, leg being humped ( yep it’s happened to me) etc.

StoneofDestiny · 17/11/2021 22:20

If only dogs would keep their dogs to themselves. That means keep their noise, their shit and their jumping up to themselves. Some owners even have those stretchy leads that puts their dog over 6 feet away from their control - often stretching across the pavement!

Some people have developed a real fear of dogs from being chased by them as children.

Gilly12345 · 17/11/2021 22:21

I am fed up of dogs 🐶 too they are everywhere.

You even take a UK holiday and all you see are people with their dogs.

Love me love my dog.

My dog does shit on my property most of the time. It's fair game for literally any mammal to defecate.

This is incredibly rude and really reads like gaslighting. At what point has she indicated that she is always really angry? People are allowed to dislike having dogs foisted on them. And as the numbers of dogs have increased along with the infantilisation of them (all this fur baby nonsense) the issues have increased for those of us who would rather not be subjected to your animals.
