I am so fucking done with dogs

I am sick of being jumped all over by dogs when I'm out running. I always slow to a walk when a dog approaches, I stand still if they seem aggressive. I have lost count of how many dogs that have jumped up on me and have made me muddy, left scratches from their nails on my arms and thighs
or ripped/pulled my clothing. I'm actually very lucky never to have been bitten.

I am so fucking fed up of avoiding piles of dog shit - on some of the routes I run or walk I can count up to a dozen piles just left on the path.

I am so fucking fed up of my neighbour's dogs barking. I can't complain as they are the kind of people who will make my life hell but on the regular occasions they are out they bark CONSTANTLY. Sometimes all night long.

I am fed up of having to pass a neighbour's house where they let their dog shit in the front garden and don't clear out for days and days. I walk past daily and it stinks to high heaven.

I am fucking fed up of dogs in cafes, pubs and restaurants. I, like many people are allergic and it leaves me sneezing for hours and hours. One pub we were in you literally had to clamber over 6 dogs to get to the bar.

Now today on here there are loads of people saying they think it's ok to put their dog shit in someone else's bin.

This is even without the terrible dog attacks that happen.

I know this will rile entitled dog owners but seriously has anyone else just fucking had enough?

(Ps my current username came from a thread where a poster's dinner of cottage pie had been given to the dog where everyone piled on to say dogs can't eat onions. I don't have a dog 🤣)

So many dog owners seem unable to grasp that not everyone feels the way they do about their pet. I am not afraid of dogs but I don’t want them jumping up at me or my DC. I don’t think that makes me a horrible miserable person. And yet I’ve had a dog owner look really offended when I’ve politely asked them to stop their dog jumping up at me when I was carrying a baby in a sling in a public square that had No Dogs signs on all the gates!

Omg this one too!! I was recently in the park with 6 month old DD. I had her out of her buggy sitting on my lap when a dog came up to us. First it was okay but the dog kept getting closer and closer and seemed as if it wanted to jump on my leg. I said to the owners 'can you not get your dog??' (they were just walking off saying 'pippy pippy' clearly pippy was not fucking listening)

Anyway the woman looked at me like I'd just killed her dog, as if I should be okay with her dog wanting to jump on my leg.

I don’t think lockdown has helped. Loads of people I know personally got dogs around this time, all of them seem really anxious and unsocialised. I love dogs but totally get pissed off with people not training them properly.

Love dogs! They make me smile and my favourite part of the day is my dog walk where I see everyone’s dogs playing and having fun.
But people need to pick up the poo.

They’re everywhere. A scumbag dog owner had an altercation with my dh who was just trying to protect dc from the stupid animal.

We are mostly egocentric.

I appreciate people want dogs for all the reasons that are clearly obvious. But then they get them and forget there are a whole lot more intrusive reasons other people don’t have them.

And that other people don’t love them or think they’re cute.

I do appreciate peoples need for companionship, etc, but I believe a large number of dog owners just don’t GET that some people don’t want dogs in their lives.

That means they don’t want dogs sniffing their crotches, running up to them, jumping up, listening to them whine and whinge during a pub meal, barking infringement in their gardens. And quite ignorantly brushing unwarranted contact off with ‘it’s okay, Boris is friendly!!!’ - well he may well be, but Boris will also put me in a&e with an allergic reaction, so frankly piss right off.

Imagine when you’re walking your ‘fur baby’ that to other people it might be something that triggers fear or an allergic reaction. Seemingly lots of people don’t and don’t care either.

Don’t get me started on U.K. beaches. Just this September my DC happily built a sandcastle on the beach. Ignorant fucking dog owner strolling along, ignoring dog trailing behind who cocks it’s leg and pisses all over the sandcastle, buckets and spades. Confronted, she just shrugged.

I have a private bit of lane owned by me which is somewhat of a shortcut between two roads. I have CCTV. I have so many images of people letting their dogs shit on my land. I can’t report to the LA as I don’t have any details. I’m sick of it. I’ve decided to block access which is a shame as I don’t mind people without dogs using it, so now I’m the bad person.

Don't like them. Unapologetic about it. Some people don't like cats. Some don't like snakes. I don't like dogs. They stink, they steal, they're a fucking nuisance and I would support ownership being limited to people who have completed mandatory training courses and proved they can handle the breed they propose to own. No more pit bull type dogs being purchased by status seeking thugs and left to basically go feral! No more packs of ankle biting chihuahua's being walked like a cloud of piranhas.

I'm with you OP. I USED to love dogs, like I was obsessed with them. Now my heart sinks whenever I see one.

I guess it's not dogs fault but society is ridiculous with dogs now. You do not need to take your dog to a cafe, or a shop. It doesn't need to have free run across the park where children are playing. Im so tired of constantly monitoring dogs when im on a walk with my child.

Im gonna get a pet crocodile- and let it run where it wants and jump at who it's wants and shit everywhere and snap under restaurant tables. This seems to be acceptable now so why not.

We all shit. Dog owners who leave their dogs shit on the pavement (or even in their own front garden) need to be asked if they leave their own shit in the toilet without flushing.

Dog owners who don’t do anything about their dogs continually barking need to be asked if they ignore a human constantly shouting, or their own kids continually crying.

Dog owners who allow their dogs to jump up a strangers need to be asked if they would like strangers constantly hassling them.

The problem isn’t dogs.

The problem is the dog owners who don’t look after / maintain / clean up after their own pets.

If they did, then you wouldn’t be fed up with dogs at all OP. So your thread title should really be:

“Fucking inconsiderate dog owners”

As opposed to “Fucking dogs”

My next door neighbour has a dog that barks and howls constantly all day when she's at work.

It's clearly very distressed. Yes she's aware but says. 'Oh he's fine, always been like it'.

Barking dogs are an absolute misery to live near.

Sounds like you need to move - I don't think all areas are as over run with dogs as where you live.

Don't go to Corfu though - the stray cats will drive you insane.

I’m so sick of it too. I love dogs genuinely it’s the irresponsible selfish crowd that own some of them I hate! At our local duck pond random dogs have been coming up taking bread out of my toddlers hand in the buggy a few times now. The owners are near but not taking heed. She hasn’t been bitten but I’m quite nervous it could happen and apart from trying to shoo them away there isn’t much more I can do!!! You would be so fed up though. And the dog shit is such a pain having to dodge it!!!

I don't hate dogs but do think society is being overrun with canine pooches and many owners have lost sight of whars acceptable and what isn't.
Dsis is pissed off I won't take her dog and child overnight, the dog is extremely anxious it'll cry all night keep everyone awake, Dsis thinks it isn't it isn't a big ask, she leaves Ddog here regularly in the daytime while she shops and it cries for her.

I have a dog. I hate people letting their dogs off lead and letting their dogs harass mine to the point of it becoming dangerous. I hate the fact one dog was running all over the road yesterday when I was out walking my dog and the owner didn't even run, just walked to catch it. I hate being treated with open hostility by estate workers asking me to prove I'm carrying dog bags (yes and yes) and seeing turds everywhere when I will carry a bag for hours, not sling it in a tree. But I don't hate dogs, that would be unreasonable - I hate their owners!

I watched a dog do a huge wet poo near me and my daughter in the park. The owner tried to pick it up, but of course picking something up doesn’t clean the area. It’s still got excrement on it.
I just wish someone would invent a dog nappy or force owners to use dog toilets or something.
It’s just grim

God I hate dogs too! They stink, chew things, get fur everywhere and shit all over the pavement. Oh yes, and some of them kill, maim and terrify children with worrying regularity. Why would you want them?! I can't understand after the first kid was killed, people didn't just think it's not worth the risk. They're animals with sharp teeth for crunching through bone, you cannot absolutely trust any of them. Apart from those little farty ones, and I mean with regards to them, just why?!
